Salem does not have very many hotel rooms for such a touristic place, which explains the extortionate prices. We arrived fairly late and the unpleasant woman at the front desk made it clear that in her motel, it was "take it or leave it". Even though we noticed some signs of lack of hygene (a cat on the desk, for... More

My husband and I made reservations and told the owner that we were bringing a service dog. When we arrived, she wanted to see papers to verify that I had a service dog and charge us a deposit. When I told it was against federal law to do that, she said that it wasn't true. She then wanted to locate... More

Very nice hotel. Extremely clean and spacious rooms. Good location, short walk to the center of Salem. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly with any questions you may have. Salem itself is an awesome city. Feels more like a quaint little town, full of history.

Located close to downtown Salem, about a $6 cab ride. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Ours had a keurig with a variety of coffee (pumpkin spice too! Which made my crisp Sept. Morning perfectly cozy), creamer and sweeteners. Staff is helpful and very accommodating. The concierge gave us recommendations, directions, called us a cab and made sure we had all... More

The owners are rude, and shady. The one owner (a male) walked passed our "closed curtain" window and was peeking in! The cops were called in the middle of the night. The owner and another employee were fighting loudly and cussing at each other. No locks on the door, out dated rooms, the coffee machine didn't work, and just plain... More

I was looking for an inexpensive hotel for a last minute trip to Salem. My options were this place for $160 a night or a nicer hotel for over $400 a night. I thought, I wouldn't be in the room much so how bad could it be... well, let me tell you, it's bad. Musty smelling, outdated, dirty and gross.... More

Do yourself a favor and do not stay at the Clipper ship Inn. The owner is a creepy, rude woman who needs lessons in hospitality and hotel management. The place was run down, had no pool, and for breakfast they gave you a three dollar Dunkin Donut card. Demanded 25.00 extra a night from two friends who joined us at the last... More

My daughter and I stayed here for one night while visiting colleges in the area. This hotel was the most reasonable in the area, so, I was not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! Our room was a quiet, clean suite with good air conditioning. The owner provided us with directions to downtown Salem and recommended restaurants nearby... More
