Rising six stories, the Salem Waterfront Hotel & Suites on Pickering Wharf Marina blends a contemporary outlook with an appreciation for the area's proud past. It is Salem's newest boutique hotel with a warm nautical décor. The 86 rooms and suites have handsome wood furnishings, fabrics in soothing shades and windows that let in lots of light. Look for flat-panel TVs with cable channels, pillowtop beds and high-end Keurig coffeemakers. There are complimentary wired and wireless internet connections available throughout the property, and loaner iPads are available in the lobby. Local calls are free, as are morning newspapers in lobby. It is the only hotel downtown Salem with a heated indoor pool, and the fitness room is packed with cardio and strength-training equipment. Specializing in locally caught seafood, the on-site restaurant, The Regatta Pub, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for a "Cool and Casual Fare with Flair". In warmer weather, the tables spill out onto the patio and on cooler nights we have roaring firepits for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or meal next to. Laundry service is a plus and Parking is always free. Our doormen will be most happy to assist with luggage assistance. LOCATION: With more than 300 years of history just outside the front door, the Salem Waterfront Hotel is a great base for exploring. The hotel sits at Pickering Wharf, close to lots of shopping and dining opportunities. Within walking distance are attractions like the Peabody Essex Museum and the historic Phillips House. Boston Logan International Airport is 15 miles southwest and Boston is 20 miles.

I guess technically it is on the waterfront but the hotel is sideways so the cast majority of the rooms are NOT on the water. Maybe some of the rooms might be able to peek over some roofs to see the water. The hotel is centrally located and cute from the outside, dated and tired on the inside. Built for tourists, not business.

We were thrilled to be able to get accommodations so close to Halloween. We stayed in the King Suite from October 31 through November 3, 2020. Everyone was super nice. The food and drinks were delicious both through room service and in the pub downstairs. The two rooms of the suite were very roomy and spotless. One room had a very comfortable king-size bed and a t.v. . The other room also had a t.v., a pullout sofa-bed, a table, four chairs, a fridge, and a wet bar. There were two closets! Not all rooms have all this, but the King Suite was fit for royalty!

All in all the hotel was very nice. The property was near a few attractions. Enjoyed being in Salem at this time. Enjoyed dinner at finz restaurant and Bella Verona. Enjoyed breakfast at the Regatta Pub.

Pros: The hotel is in a really convenient area and parking was really easy. It was an easy walk shops and a cafe. This hotel also seemed very clean and I think they did a great job covid-wise, so I felt secure. The staff at the front desk was very bright and cheerful. Cons: I was given room 411, a room that was right across the ice machine. The machine was so loud that I woke up every time it went on, and there was also the sound of a slamming door periodically that made me feel like it was my door opening. For some reason people need to get ice at 2am and 3am. I guess I could have asked for another room, but I feel like this room shouldn't be available at all.
