This house was by far, my favorite part of my trip to Salem. It was creepy and cozy, weird and warm. I slept like I haven't in years in the four poster bed with the clean, well worn sheets and the funky comforters. There were antiques and unusual things everywhere, and I would be hard pressed to find more than... More

A wonderful place that provided a peaceful night in antiquity coupled with heart felt hospitality and timeless compassion. I encourage this spot for anyone traveling to Salem that prefers a bed and breakfast.

My friend and I took a last minute trip to Salem and were so happy to have found This B&B. Full of Charm, Character and authentic Salem ambiance, The Stephan Daniels house provided everything we were looking for. Kay, the amazing owner, answered when I called to make the reservation. She is unique and incredibly interesting. She asked who would... More

My friend and I visited Salem in August of 2014 and had the pleasure of staying at the Stephen Daniels House. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay and consider it the quintessential bed and breakfast in Salem. You truly feel as if you have stepped back in time. Kay and Robin were very welcoming and shared many enjoyable... More

Cool historic home, if you want to experience the true "spirit" of Salem this is the place. It's like stepping back in time. Not for those who want modern super clean scene. This house is 300 years old, looks it, feels it. Every corner is filled with antiques. Not for everyone! My son was a bit spooked! I truly enjoyed... More

I thought it would be cool to stay in an 1600s house in Salem during our weekend stay in Salem. History and beds all in one. First, limited Parking. The first night we arrived were able to leave our car in the Driveway, then next day the entire street was full. I had to park 3 streets down, I was... More

There was no dust in the room, the wall paper is not moldy, the bathroom is right next to the room. Did you expect to put one foot into the bath tub? Bathroom is adjunct to the room. This is a pet friendly house, anyone with allergies would know this would not be the house for them. We buy fresh... More

We were passing through Salem and wanted to stay somewhere historical. This place definitely fits the bill. The house is filled with antique trinkets and some rooms are true to the original 1600 construction. The hostess was knowledgeable about the history of the house and answered many of our questions.

Salem, mystical and magical. Beautiful courtyard, within walking distance to everything.Wonderful breakfast includes. One of the least expensive as well. Went in twice in 2015 and plan to go again, I would recommend.

My husband, dog, and I recently spent 3 nights at the Daniels House for my birthday and Valentine's Day. I wish we could've stayed longer! Wherever we go, we love staying in older homes turned into b&b's. We've stayed in amazing ones all over the place, but the Daniels House was by far the oldest and most amazing yet! The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
