We were passing through Salem and wanted to stay somewhere historical. This place definitely fits the bill. The house is filled with antique trinkets and some rooms are true to the original 1600 construction. The hostess was knowledgeable about the history of the house and answered many of our questions.

Salem, mystical and magical. Beautiful courtyard, within walking distance to everything.Wonderful breakfast includes. One of the least expensive as well. Went in twice in 2015 and plan to go again, I would recommend.

My husband, dog, and I recently spent 3 nights at the Daniels House for my birthday and Valentine's Day. I wish we could've stayed longer! Wherever we go, we love staying in older homes turned into b&b's. We've stayed in amazing ones all over the place, but the Daniels House was by far the oldest and most amazing yet! The... More

Stayed here mid November 2015 and had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the absolutely authentic atmosphere, beautiful decor, comfy room, reading by the fire and chatting with Kay and Robin. I cant wait to return for a visit and bring my family. The Stephen Daniels House is one of a kind and so very special to experience. I cant say... More

Just got back from the Daniels House....I didn't want to leave. If you like generic, cookie cutter, sterile hotel rooms, this isn't for you. If you want a warm, friendly, comfortable, cozy, unique place with lots of character and charm, you have found your perfect place. It is located near all the attractions, but yet on a residential street with ample... More

Just spent a horribly scary night at this house. We couldn't pack up fast enough the next morning. We both had unwanted visitations that freaked us out - we were staying in different rooms. You may think it is cool to have a ghostly experience but when it happens, not so. DETAILS NEEDED TO KNOW IF YOU WANT TO STAY;... More

We have been to Salem on two prior occasions. This time we traveled with friends who had never been to Salem. We decided to stay in a home that is a true representation of Salem and its history. The house is extremely interesting with all its' nooks and crannies. The owner Kay, has filled her home with an amazing amount... More

My first trip to Salem wouldn't have been the same without having stayed at the Stephen Daniels House. Not only is the house a historic gem, but it is within a very short walking distance from the Wharf and all other sites that are likely on your list. I stayed in the Acorn Room, which was on the third floor.... More

We arrived well after our intended hour yet Kay was still up waiting for us. As it turned out, we were the only guests that week. While I feel sorry for the other guests who were meant to be there but who fell ill, I cannot say that I didn't enjoy having the run of the house (along with my... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
