Travelers' Choice
Originally founded in the 1950's as a working cattle ranch, the Rincon Creek Ranch was purchased in 2010 by Bill and Gretchen Shirley who spent the next four years transforming it into a spectacular, luxurious, guest ranch. Consisting of 78 acres bordering Saguaro National Park, the ranch has seven, fully equipped guest casitas each with full kitchens, lavish bathrooms, comfy bedrooms, laundry, fireplaces, and sitting porches. The multi-purpose building, Luella-Boomer Hall, constructed to look like an old mission, has a kitchen, bathrooms, massage and exercise rooms, Wi-Fi, Direct TV, library, and a 1200sf great room. With horseback riding, jeep tours, hiking, and golf only minutes away, guests can customize their stay, engaging only in activities of interest, and the availability of in casita dining accommodates any dietary restriction or budget. The breathtaking views and consummate privacy make Rincon Creek Ranch the perfect place for romantic getaways, family reunions, and corporate retreats.

I spent hours watching the birds at the birdfeeder ( the variety of birds was amazing), as well as the sunlight on the saguaros, and the mountains beyond. Coming from the Pacfic Northwest, it was magical to feel the sun, and the dry , warm air. An antidote to winter, and frankly, spring, for many of us, bar none! Thank you, Bill and Gretchen, for all your hard work on this comfortable and comforting spot.

Response from Bill and Gretchen Shirley, Owner at Rincon Creek Ranch

M&D, Thank you for your kind words and compliments! We love it when the birds arrive in force as well. Birding was one of the surprise benefits to the Ranch. A young couple from NY first made us aware of what a special spot we had here, and thanks to them our own interest in Birding blossomed. The species change throughout the year of course, but it seems like every year we discover something new. Last year, we had a pair of Barn Owls take up residence in the trees surrounding the lower lawn. We had glimpsed them on occasion years before, but its a big property, so we only see what's in the portions we regularly traverse. On the NY couples return visit last year, they photographed a pair of Elf Owls sharing a cubby in the big saguaro next to Luella-Boomer Hall. Right now, the Humming Birds have finally arrived. We are truly fortunate to have such a spectacular setting with so many diverse biozones on the property. Thank you again for your wonderful review. Best Wishes and Happy Traveling! ~Bill and Gretchen

"First Class" accommodations! Every casita has amazing private views. Hiking was unbelievably spectacular adjacent to the ranch property. A secret getaway for a short or long stay to reboot! Can't wait to go back!

D&L, Thank you for your compliments. And, thank you for returning for another stay! There's probably no better compliment than that. We've tried our best to provide casita and property amenities to make guest's stays live up to the meaning of “Casita”, a little home. Our goal was to provide everything one would need if they were able to transport their home to a new and spectacular vacation setting. We're very happy you enjoyed your stay, and were able to relax and recharge. Best Wishes, ~Bill & Gretchen

We had a lovely visit to the Rincon Creek Ranch in February 2022. The casita was perfect for our needs and the setting was exceptional. We spent a very relaxing week hiking and biking in Saguaro National Park. Highly recommended!

N&G, Thank you so much for kind words and compliments. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the casita and property amenities to your liking. Thank you for letting us know that Jason at Bikes Tucson is back renting again. So many of our guests enjoy the MTB trails near the Ranch and the famous “Loop” for road biking. We enjoy hiking in the Park every chance we get. We're glad you were able to get the time to kick back and relax. Best Wishes and Happy Traveling! ~Bill & Gretchen

My wife and I had such a wonderful stay at the Rincon Creek Ranch in November 2021 that we decided to spend a few more nights in February. And, we're planning a return trip in November of 2022. The most amazing thing about the ranch is that its so quiet and peaceful out there, especially at night. Star gazing is incredible and the hiking unsurpassed both at the ranch and in Saguaro National Park. If peace and soliutude is something you crave on a vacation then the Rincon Creek Ranch is for you!

A little slice of heaven not too far from Tucson. The hosts, accommodations, sunsets, scenery and stars are fantastic. Great place to recharge and be thankful for one’s blessings. The loop hike is must do. This is I need to plan a return visit place to stay.

J&P, Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments. We're so glad you were able to enjoy the property trails. Its just long enough to feel like you did something, but not an expedition. And, guests are often lucky enough to spot some wildlife in our “lower 40” mesquite bosque. We're happy you enjoyed your stay! Best Wishes, ~Bill & Gretchen

The welcome letter on the bulletin board in the room was a very nice touch. They have full kitchen to make your own meals. Great facility with a wood burning fireplace and whirlpool tub. The views of the mountains were spectacular! We loved it and are planning a return visit.

J&J, Thank you so much for your compliments. We truly enjoy meeting and greeting our guests. Many times guests just want to get to their casitas after a long day of traveling, but for those hearty souls that really enjoy looking at the Ranch House while checking in, or want to chat and hear our story, we love taking the time to share. Its the best part of being an Innkeeper, and its an incredible compliment when we receive that interest. We're glad you enjoyed the amenities in your casita and the spectacular views available right out your living room window. Thank you for choosing to stay with us. Best Wishes, ~Bill & Gretchen

We stayed for five nights over new year and can’t recommend Rincon Creek Ranch highly enough. The casita (we stayed in the Farmhouse) was beautifully appointed and luxuriously equipped, the views over Saguaro East and the mountains were spectacular, and the size of the property and spacing of the casitas ensures plenty of privacy and quiet. There is lots to see and do in southern AZ, but we almost wished we’d spent more time just taking in the Ranch. A definite highlight of our trip, even during a late December cold snap.

D,R, W & B, Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments! We often hear from our two or three night guests that their stay just wasn't long enough. You're right. Southern Arizona has so many wonderful sights and attractions that the longer you're here, the more you want to see. We're happy you enjoyed the layout of the property and the amenities we offer. We're very fortunate to have such an incredible setting and natural environment. Lots of spectacular vistas and numerous critters to keep everyone entertained. Best Wishes ~ Bill & Gretchen

My wife and I had been anticipating our trip to Rincon Creek Ranch since before Covid reared its ugly head which meant we sat on our reservation for a year and a half. To make a long story short, it was well worth the wait! We were pleasantly surprised to learn that pictures of the buildings and the surrounding territory don't do justice to what really awaits you at the ranch. The scenery is spectacular, mammals and birds show up at random, the casitas are clean, comfortable and well-maintained, and Bill & Gretchen are perfect hosts with their kindness and friendly energy. We liked our first stay so much that we've already booked our next Rincon Creek Ranch adventure for this coming February! You have to experience this property to believe it, so our advice is for you to get online or call the Shirley's and book your reservation today! Pat & Marjorie/St. George Utah

P&M Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments. And, thank you for your perseverance at overcoming all of the Covid challenges to finally make the trip after so many attempted starts. It has been challenging time to say the least, and we are grateful for all the travelers such as yourselves that are once again hitting the trail. RCR has become a popular choice. The private casitas and expansive property provide for effortless social distancing and the trails and adjacent SNP do the same for our birders and hikers. We are so glad the casita and property amenities met your needs, and its always wonderful watching the abundant wildlife in their natural habitat. Our goal was to provide everything one had in their own home, but in a new and spectacular setting. Thank you again for staying with us. Happy traveling! ~Bill & Gretchen

Although it’s been awhile since my wife, daughter, and I stayed at the Rincon Creek Ranch, (October 2020) our sentiments remain the same. We arrived and were immediately made to feel at home by the owners Bill and Gretchen. They gave us a tour of the land and facilities. Afterwards, we were shown to our casita, El Ranchito #4. The casita is beautiful beyond words: the great room, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms, are exceptionally decorated. My wife, who is an interior designer, said that the stay was outstanding. The porch faced Saguaro National Park and we couldn’t get enough of the magnificent scenery and solitude. From the birds, to the javelinas, and the quails, we were able to enjoy nature, literally at our backdoor. You are able, with just a few steps, to enter Saguaro National Park from the casita. Thank you for the wonderful stay. We will surely return!

B, L, & L, Thank you so much for your compliments and wonderful review! These days it seems like we are living in our own private wildlife park. The big four, javelina, deer, coyote & bobcat, are regular visitors, often hanging out under the trees for hours. And the hummingbird population is going nuts. We have a new resident Barn Owl, but getting a photo has proven exceptionally difficult. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and the casita decor. And, we're happy you were able to enjoy hiking in the Park. Best Wishes, ~Bill & Gretchen

We can't say enough good things about Rincon Creek Ranch. The owners are warm and helpful. The casita was perfectly appointed with fresh eggs, everything you need in the kitchen, perfect large bedroom, washer and dryer, and the bathroom, WOW. Bill and Gretchen did not scrimp on construction and have thought of all your possible needs in advance. The property is located next to Saguaro Park for hiking and views. The bird feeders are fully stocked so there is always something to watch while relaxing on the porch. This place is the perfect getaway; relaxing, chill, quiet, and peaceful. Who could ask for anything more?

N&D, Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments. We are so glad the casita and property amenities met your needs. Our goal was to provide everything one had in their own home, but in a new and spectacular setting, and since we are more of a “boutique” property, we wanted to provide nicer things and higher end construction details. It means a lot to us when guests tell us they appreciate our efforts. We are very fortunate to share a border with Saguaro National Park and have access to their trails. It means a lot to us that you enjoyed all of the casita and property amenities and were able to just kick back and relax. Truly a welcome respite after the last twelve months. Best wishes to you both. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and Happy Travels. ~Bill & Gretchen
