Very clean and comfortable. Modern design with nice landscaping. Staff is friendly. Great location in a safe area. TripAdvisor is forcing me to write 200 characters but I don’t have anything left to say.
A small group of us came to Tucson to do some hiking and we based ourselves our of the Downtown Clifton. They have plenty of free parking and are in a good central location. The management and staff were super cool and laid back and very hospitable. You even get a free drink token when you check-in. The lobby bar is kind of an indoor/outdoor type set-up and seemed to be a hip place to be for locals and tourists alike. What I really loved, was in the lobby they have a bunch of portable record players and a pretty good selection of albums that you can take to your room for you stay. I would certainly not hesitate to book to stay here again should I be back in Tucson. And it was a nice touch that they sent me a postcard the week after I checked out to say thank-you for visiting.
This hotel has character in addition to a wonderful staff. Each person we met was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was clean and simple and had lots of mid-century character. The "little things" all added up--decades-old magazines in the room, albums from the 60s and 70s with the option to borrow a record player, and vintage chairs outside each room to enjoy the day. The Clifton's location was an easy walk or drive downtown. We'll be staying here again the next time we come down.
I enjoyed my stay at the Downtown Clifton. The room was nice and they have a great bar and restaurant with drinks at night and tasty local coffee in the morning. When my stay was extended a few days because of weather related flight cancellations, they quickly extended my reservation. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. They even took my clothes and laundered them, which was a big help since I had not packed for the extended stay. I love the retro hip motel feel. I would highly recommend the Downtown Clifton and would definitely return.
My boyfriend and I found the Clifton while researching cat-friendly hotels for our move from LA back home to Austin. They had no problems at all with us bringing our two cats and for a great price, which was amazing. It is so hard to find a hotel of this quality willing to take cats at all, let alone for a such a reasonable price. Kiersten helped us with our late check-in because (of course) we got a late start heading out of LA. She was very kind and friendly and made the process easy. We arrived at the Clifton around 11pm, but the hotel and the area felt very safe- I would be totally comfortable staying here alone. The room itself was cute, cozy, and very clean. They have a bar that opens up to a nice outdoor space and serves amazing food. We decided to stay an extra night just so we could hang out, try the food, and enjoy the patio... which was completely worth it. The bartender, Matt, made some delicious cocktails and we both impressed by the food. Their COVID practices were also solid and everyone was very respectful of each other. Overall, we loved the relaxed vibe of the hotel, awesome food and drinks, and accommodations for our cats. I would 100% recommend the Clifton to anyone looking to stay in the area- skip Phoenix and stay here instead.…
