The view while at the pool is amazing with the mountain scenery all around. However, this hotel is OLD (40+yrs) and desperately needs updating! Our room was nice and big, but smelled of smoke, which triggered a migraine for me during our entire stay. In fact, we had to check out 1 day early because of it. The beds were terribly uncomfortable. We had 2 adults, and 2 teens staying in our room, and all of our backs hurt because of the terrible mattress quality. The food at the main restaurant as well as the lobby bar was awful. 1 day for lunch, we ordered 2 sandwich items, and 2 soft drinks, and it was over $60. It tasted so bad, we could not even eat but a few bites, so that was a total waste of money. We tried breakfast from the buffet as well as off the menu and both were terrible. Food was poor quality & cold. Staff that we encountered was friendly. We stayed at the hotel because we had a surprise b day dinner (catered by the hotel) for my dad’s 75th b day. We had about 25 people in attendance. Sadly, the food was terrible. I hope this hotel gets a much needed facelift. The scenery surrounding it is very beautiful. Unfortunately, our stay was not enjoyable because of the old musty smelling rooms that also smelled like smoke, thus triggering a horrific migraine for me that lasted the 3 days we stayed. The beds were terrible quality and so was the food. We will not be returning, and will be telling anyone we know to choose a different property!!…
I have stayed at El Conquistador many many times, and they NEVER disappoint. From the amazing views, beautiful spacious rooms, to the incredible customer service. This resort goes above and beyond to make our stay perfect. I can't say enough about the Joeys. Yes.. JOEYS... plural. Joey at the pool (Desert Springs), and Joey at the restaurant (Epizote) are both amazing. So glad they are still there. Hands down one of the many reasons I go back! Thanks again for a wonderful time.
Hospitality, Hospitality Hospitality! Everyone went above and beyond. Three outstanding employees made out stay more inviting were HASSON @ The front door JAYSON @ The pool bar DAN@ The inside bar. These guys gave excellent guest service and really stood out to us and every guest they attended to.
This was probably beautiful in it’s day but our building, at least, showed its age and is beginning to get shabby. Landscaping is beautiful but the elevators and signage from parking lots were confusing. Impeccably clean and very courteous staff. Daughter told us the service and food for on site breakfast was wonderful. We noticed many trip hazards and other safety issues that could probably be easily remedied. Our room, on the first floor in bldg 4 felt a little like we were in a basement. Overall ok, but overpriced for the value received.
I have been dying to stay at this resort for years. Finally booked a couple nights for the Holiday weekend and I was not impressed at all. The pool was nice, but that is about it. I ordered nachos and the chips were stale! The next day I ordered tacos and the meat was as dry as jerky. I will say the best food there was the quesadilla. Walking down the hall of building 1 during the evening was disgusting. There were bags full of bedding and garbage all over the place. I highly doubt housekeeping could have forgotten them there. They were everywhere! The room was decent. For the price I paid, I can most definitely say I will not be staying here again. What a shame.
The ladies at the coffee shop, Tricia and Theresa were exceptional. They were very friendly and professional. Other than that, most of the people were nice, but one particular person at the front desk was rude to my wife when she complained about an injury that I incurred that was due to the negligence of a hotel employee.
This property looks amazing in the photos. Once you get there it meets your expectations. We loved the pool and location in Oro Valley. The challenge is the hotel management is running this hotel on a skeleton staff. If you are expecting 5 Star Service, stay elsewhere. 4 Examples: 1. We pulled up to check in. The bellman said they were short staffed and couldn't take our bags. Even though we have a disabled daughter. He told us to drive around to the back of the building by the dumpsters and take our own bags in. 2. There is not enough staff at the hotel bar and pool bar/restaurant. You will wait forever for a drink or just not get one. We were there once for a hour and no waiter came in. Again, "Short staffed" was the excuse. This was every day. 3. Hotel doesn't offer daily housekeeping. YOU the guest have to call for it a day in advance. We did this and the maid didn't show. I called back again and was told "What do you need exactly and we will send it up?" I sarcastically told the front desk lady, "Why don't you just give me the vacuum cleaner, cleaning spray, sheets and towels and I will clean my own room." 4. Could not get WIFI to work. Called front desk and they tried to help me. Didn't work. Lady at front desk gave me and 800 number to call for tech support. I said to her "Are you serious? I stay at a 5 star hotel and you are telling me to fix my own internet issues?" She saw my point and called management who helped me.…
We stayed a lot of Hilton resorts and I have to say this is my least favorite of all. Walking through building 1 to get too building 2 it reaked of smoke. At the trash cans there was trash everywhere Coke boxes everywhere and it seemed like housekeeping didn’t pick any of that trash up. It was still there the next day. We did enjoy the pool area however we went to go to the hot tub it was filthy, only two of the Jets were working and a lot of the younger kids were in the area with the Jets so as adults we cannot enjoy the hot tub. There is no blankets or pillows for the pull out couch that was in the bed. we initially called at 5 o’clock and they said they have a set up in 20 minutes it took us two calls later until 830 at night to receive the blankets and pillows for the pull out couch. Tucson has too many great resorts that are way better than El conquistador. Will not go back. …
One of the best hotels in the Tucson area. I’ve stayed here multiple times and the service is consistently amazing. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. On this trip I’d like to recognize housekeeping staff Adol for being extremely helpful to us during our stay. She went above and beyond to help us find a lost item and we are extremely grateful for her. I highly recommend this hotel, it’s in one of the most beautiful spots in Tucson and the service is hands down the best in town.
We really enjoy staying here and always have had a wonderful experience. This time was different, the people at breakfast in the Sundance Cafe, where not user friendly, in fact the hostess and the older lady that worked there never smiled the whole time we where there. In fact acted like they wanted to be anywhere but there. In the future I hope there attitude can can match the other employees. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
