Really enjoyed my experience staying at this resort. The rooms are large and extremely comfortable - including massive bathrooms and closet space. My room felt very private and like my own personal sanctuary while I was there, with a beautiful view of the sunrise. I did not take advantage of the many pools and gym while I was there, but they looked beautiful and there were plenty of options. I had a great experience at the spa - kind service and a comfortable space. I also thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the restaurant food although the menu felt limited. The front desk was extremely responsive - I loved the texting feature. Special shoutout to Josh who was particularly attentive and responsive. Housekeeping was thorough. I appreciated the included waters, coffee, etc. with the resort fee.

Suggestions for improvement:

Shower: weak shower pressure, overall pretty terrible shower head, water temperature inconsistent. Would have expected much better at a spa resort of this caliber

Check in process - I arrived late at night due to a flight delay. The front desk was staffed, but the person at the front desk was very scattered and quite negative. She explained she'd been dealing with a drunk guest, so I certainly understood that throwing her off, but her overall attitude was off-putting - especially prior to a retreat encouraging relaxation and positivity. She quickly described where my room was, and made it clear she would not be walking me to my room. When I asked if there were signs she said "I think so?". It was dark and late at night, and a little unnerving walking to my room alone, especially as a female and being aware there was a belligerent drunk guest that could be around. I also had to navigate stairs with my heavy luggage, which was fine given my age/fitness, but I can't imagine if my parents had been the ones staying there in that situation. It made for a less than stellar first impression, but my tranquil and beautiful room quickly put me at ease. Other than that one service blip, the service was excellent and comprehensive throughout.

Thank you very much for your review and for your feedback. Overall, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us! It sounds like once you got settled everything was magical and watching the sunrise is just as amazing as watching the sunset. Josh is fantastic! I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the spa as well, a perfect way to spend a vacation. For your last comment, I truly appreciate your feedback. I can understand completely how you felt and I will address this with the staff to ensure we are making our guests feel safe and welcome, even late at night. I'm very sorry for the experience but I'm glad you found some respite in the room. Please feel free to reach out to me next time you book and I would be happy to welcome you back. My husband and I are currently here at Hacienda del Sol. We have a Catalina Mountain View room, which is spacious with a fabulous view of the mountains. However, every room seems unique and I don’t think you can go wrong with whichever room type you choose. And the grounds are so beautiful. From the moment we checked in, the service has been impeccable. We have already eaten at La Terraza Restaurant twice and we loved the ambiance, the view and last night there was live music. The food was fantastic. The staff is so helpful and they are very, very covid conscious. Everything is Extremely clean, masks are worn by entire staff at all times, and guests wear the masks except when eating, or out walking about outside, not near anyone. And even then, many of the guests wear the masks. We feel very safe here. Hacienda del Sol feels like old town Tucson to me, how it was when I first came here in 1960. We are celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday here and we could not have chosen a better place. Thank you Hacienda del Sol for being so special

Dear Grams98, I am so glad you had such a great time at our resort. Every aspect you mentioned is why guests love staying here - the view, ambiance, and you're right, the food in the restaurant is amazing. The pictures you shared even made me feel relaxed! And given the world today, I am so glad you felt comfortable, as we want you to feel safe but also relaxed and feeling a little spoiled. The charm mixed with the history definitely makes it a Tucson gem, and I'm glad you think so. I'm happy you had a wonderful birthday celebration, and we can't wait to have you back! Thank you for your review!

The 9 of us had 3 rooms, including a Catalina suite which was very good sized and had two bathrooms. The bedroom side bathroom was huge with a deep tub and nice shower. Beautiful views overlooked mountains and close to the main buildings. We enjoyed spending time by the fire in the main lodge and playing board games there. Yummy breakfasts. The pool and hot tub were inviting.

My biggest issue was the fitness 'room' which was a cinder block, tiny space behind the pool. It didn't appear to be heated (and it was cold) with only 3 or 4 machines and not enough room to even lay a mat to stretch. I was told that is on the 'To Do' List but if you are active, this may bother you.

Maybe because it was Christmas week, the housekeeping was erratic. First couple of days all was good, then it slipped. Dust bunnies, not cleaning the surfaces of the sinks etc. One day, we asked that the rooms be done by 5:30PM before our return but they weren't done until after 6PM, as they cleaned around 6 teens.

Also the Inn lost power twice. Not their fault but still odd because it wasn't the weather. Luckily it only lasted a few hours. But the first time was during the night and my husband's medical device turned off without it.

We loved the old time flavor of the place and everyone was very nice and helpful. Best gift shop I've seen with unusual items. Overall, a very nice time.

Dear L D, Thank you very much for your review and I'm glad overall you enjoyed your stay! I certainly appreciate the feedback so that we can tighten our service and housekeeping, especially on busy days. It definitely was unfortunate that you had to experience the power outages. You are correct, it wasn't the weather; we later learned that on both incidents a car accident had caused the outage. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience on that. However, it was really nice to see you and your family and others spending time by the fire playing board games and chess during that time! The gift shop always has something new every time you look - Robin does a great job keeping unique items available. Overall, I am so glad that you enjoyed your holiday with us and we certainly look forward to seeing you next year!

We chose this Resort to stay at over the others in Tucson for the celebration of my sister and brother-in-laws 42nd Anniversary. Every year we pick a resort for this occasion to just relax and hang by the pool and be pampered by the pool service for food and beverages.

We checked into the resort around 11:00 am and decided to join my sister at the pool while our room was being cleaned from the previous departure, as check in time is not until 3:00 pm. We started off at the middle (older pool) which overlooks the golf course only to leave within 30 minutes as the pool was in need of chemicals and cleaning (should have been shut down due to cloudy water). We decided to go to the brand new pool that just opened up by the main entrance and we were pleased that we made the switch.

We called the front desk to see if we could order pool side drinks and lunch only to be told that they didn't have enough staff to service all of their pools and that we could come to the restaurant area and order take out and eat it at the pool. Our friend that was with us generously offered to place the order and get us some cocktails from the bar area. They would only allow him to get 2 cocktails at a time even though he was bringing them to all 4 of us at the pool so he had to make a second trip back to the only bar that was serving. Needless to say we ended up going back to our room to make a drink of our own while the couple we met in the pool earlier made a Safeway run to get their cocktails. Not quite the service you would expect to have when paying over $300 a night for a room.

Although the shortage of staff is being greatly impacted throughout Tucson businesses due to the fact that the majority of workers are making more being on unemployment, you still need to keep your service levels at the high standards that you advertise and to the expectation of your guests staying in your establishment.

You have a beautiful Resort, exquisitely designed rooms with gorgeous views, just lacking in shortage of staff for the resort style service.

Sincerely,

Disappointed in Tucson

Dear Ranae S, Thank you very much for sharing your experience and my apologies for the issues you encountered. The pool had been brought to our attention that day, and was addressed by our engineering team. It is now back to being crystal clear and inviting once again. We have made steps to ensure that our pool maintenance is up to our high standards to avoid the same thing happening again. Unfortunately, Arizona liquor law does limit the amount of drinks served to one person, so I am sorry for the limitations you experienced. Eventually, once the new Rincon Ridge area is fully open next month, pool service will be available as it is at the other pools and I believe you and other guests will find it truly relaxing. I am confident the next time you stay with us you will experience the excellent guest service that we are so proud of. Please reach out to me personally next time you book. Thank you again for sharing feedback on the ways we can improve and we look forward to welcoming you again!

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and I could not have chosen a more peaceful or beautiful environment. We booked just a "normal" room, but due to the AC acting up, the staff was kind enough to give us a free upgrade to the "Lana Turner" suite, which was over twice the size and cool enough to satisfy my Arizona blood. We were very impressed by the swift courtesy, as well as the graciousness of the entire staff. The rooms and grounds are all meticulous and manicured, almost as if the Wild West manifested into a dream and then materialized into a resort. Also, the food....my god....the food from the onsite restaurant was fantastic. I am not tough to please as my favorite meal is usually a good hamburger, but this hamburger was SUBLIME. My wife had the ribs and empanada special, and I ate most of hers as well, LOL. This is the kind of place where you go for a few days and just don't want to leave the property grounds, nor do you need to.....the sheer beauty of it all never gets boring.

Dear Greg S, I absolutely love the line about the wild west materializing into a resort! What a fantastic way to describe your experience at the resort! I'm so glad we were able to turn things around and you got to truly enjoy everything the property has to offer. I completely agree with your assessment on the food - the hamburger is a popular choice and it is amazing. Thank you for the very kind words and telling us about your experience, and we look forward to welcoming you again!

Our visit to Tucson AZ was perfect, and much of that is due to the wonderful atmosphere at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort. This place just resonates relaxation and comfort.
Registration was a breeze, and we were quickly shown to our suite.
Due to my disability that causes mobility issues we stayed in an accessible suite. It was 1100sf with 2 bathrooms. There was a large patio off of the bedroom and living room both. There were large screen TVs in the bedroom and living room. A dining room table would easily seat 8 - 10.
The entire suite was spacious and relaxing. The suite was full of southwest touches, including the colorful tile that appointed each of the 3 sinks and the countertops throughout. Our suite could not have been better.
The entire property is nicely decorated. During our stay there was a sculpture review going on that was fascinating to examine. The property is strategically laid out and made you feel as though you were on a spacious property while at the same time maintaining short distances to the lobby, the 2 restaurants, and the 2 pools. Room service was quick and delicious. There is a lovely library and lobby where we felt free to sit and relax, read, and play games and puzzles. Staff was friendly and courteous at all times.
We will definitely return to this resort. We've been to Tucson AZ several times, and from now on we will only stay at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort.

First, I love the history of this being a girls school from way back. It has a lot of historic charm. You can tell they have spent a lot of money on the grounds and you could spend a whole day admiring the artwork that is placed throughout the hotel. I loved all of the metal sculptures!!! We had one of the Catalina King Rooms (No. 67). It was beautiful and looked out to the Catalina Mountains. You really wouldn't need to leave your room and you could still take in the Tucson Dessert by just staring out the windows or sitting out on your balcony. I loved all of the character furniture in the room. My only criticism are as follows: I could not get enough hot water for my shower and the sheets and pillows could be updated. I would also recommend going to the lobby to get your coffee, because the coffee in the room was terrible. Also, my big complaint is they had NO recycling set up, which was very disappointing. They said they would pick up the recycling if we set it aside, but I was less then confident it wouldn't end up in the trash But overall this place is AMAZING and the pool area is beautiful!! The fitness room is not the best, but there is plenty of hiking and mountain biking to keep you active:)

Dear faithnofear, I'm so glad you enjoyed your time with us! The room you had is right for so many reasons as you described. I will pass along the feedback to our staff about your concerns with the room. We do recycle at the hotel internally at the moment, so anything you set aside to be recycled would be handled as such. We are aiming to have recycling bins in all rooms within the year to have peace of mind on staying green. Additionally, part of our expansion will be including a new fitness room and lap pool, so I do hope you'll join us to experience the new things we have to offer. Though yes, there are some amazing hiking trails nearby as well! Thank you for your feedback and your review and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future!

Spent an entire week here last spring. Everything about this place, from the rooms to the courtyard in full bloom, exceeds expectations. Service is impeccable; rooms are immaculate. This is a real getaway.

I've been to the Hacienda before but during this visit, I intended to go riding every day. I pulled a little mustang from their corral and they let me keep him for my time there . . . I must have ridden him more than 30 miles over the course of my stay. The wrangler (Dave, who is a fine photographer, a nice guy, and full of interesting stories) took me on a few private rides, the last of which was at sunset. We rode back to the hotel in the dark, accompanied by the small family of coyotes who had been serenading my husband and I every evening.

We stayed in one of the lower rooms so that I could be close to the corral. It felt a bit cramped after a couple of days, nor did it get much natural light. On the other hand, I spent so much time exploring the grounds (gorgeously landscaped) that it didn't really matter. Small inconveniences (trouble with the mini-fridge) were fixed within a day.

The staff is attentive, courteous, and well aware that their guests are paying good money. They are also quick to act. Halfway through my visit, I encountered a boorish guest - an older Australian traveling with his wife - who just wouldn't leave me alone. Apparently the guy got roaring drunk every night, made a lot of noise, and annoyed anyone within earshot. The staff openly admitted he was troublesome and stopped him from going on trail rides while he was intoxicated. Had he caused any real problems, I am sure the staff would have ejected him quickly from the premises.

My husband and I plan to return next spring, and to book the Casita Grande. I can't of think any place in the southwest I'd rather stay than Hacienda del Sol.

This was our second time staying at Hacienda Del Sol Ranch and we again had a wonderful time. All of the staff is very attentive and pleasant, always going the extra mile to provide great customer service.

The Ranch grounds are well kept and the scenery is beautiful, be sure to watch the sunset in the evening. They now have 3 pools and 1 of them is adults only which was really nice for us.

The restaurants on-site are very convenient with a lot of variety and the food is great! Do expect to pay resort prices. Tucson locals like to frequent the restaurants too so be sure to make reservations if you are visiting during busy season.

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion are all provided in the room so there's no need to bring those with. Nice step toward green initiative. Bottled water, coffee and tea are also provided in the room daily.

There's nothing to fault with our stay. My only suggestions is that Hacienda Del Sol should consider providing reusable water bottles with refill stations to reduce the amount of plastic with the water bottles.

If you stay here I have not doubt you'll have a fabulous time. Cheers!!

Thank you so much for the kind words and your review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, from the drinks by the adults-only pool to the restaurant selection and even the in-room shower amenities, which are made specifically for us by a local company. The comment about the water bottles is noted - we would certainly like to move away from single-use plastics and hopefully water bottles will be on the top of that list. We can't wait to welcome you back again!

Very much impressed!! We stayed in a Catalina King room. The views were incredible. The property was exquisitely landscaped. It was so quiet and serene. Staff was professional and doting without being pretentious. Artwork, tilework, plant life, etc around the property were so very beautiful. The room was sooooo nice. Gorgeous flooring, plenty of windows, comfy robes, his and hers sinks with painted tiles, soft towels, and even pistachio nuts on the nightstand!! Only improvements I'd suggest would be a better gift shop, and better breakfast. My food allergies were not taken seriously at first, and then some preferences (egg style, for example) were botched. I had to send my food back. Overall, this place is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

I see no reason why you could not do that. If you’re talking about pizza, Grubhub, or something like that, you could just have it delivered to your room. I did not see any restrictions in that regard.
