We have been to the restaurant here at least 100 times, and even held our 50th Anniversary Celebration here. That was when they had 22 units, and these were all taken by our guests. Have, always, loved this place, and still do, so it is unfortunate that we left with a bad taste in our mouth. About 2 months ago, our youngest, who lives in Pennsylvania, called to say that she rescheduled her work, so that she could come to celebrate my birthday. She would be bringing her 4.5 year old. We were delighted. We would spend two days at our house, and, then, she would move us all over to the Hacienda del Sol for two days as a treat. We were delighted with this idea, and her generosity. She booked us two Suites, and we checked in on May 6th. We got the Barbara Stanwyck Suite, and when we opened the door, we were more than awed. That Casita is gorgeous, very well located, and absolutely immaculate. During our stay, all four of us had two breakfasts, one lunch, and two dinners. For the last dinner our older daughter and husband joined us, as this was the birthday celebration. We ate outside each time, and it was just wonderful. The food was delicious, the atmosphere captivating, and the service excellent (as usual). During the day, we would sit around by the pool, mostly watching the little one, practicing her swimming skills. (She takes lessons back home.) It was a most relaxing, and enjoyable stay. Until...........I called the Front Desk on Saturday (5/8) to let them know that we were leaving. The woman, who answered, went over everything with me, and then asked if this was to be charged to my credit card, ending with 6062 (or similar). I told her that our daughter had arranged everything, and she was paying, so it was going to her card, and I don't know any of the digits on that card. She, immediately, began to act, as if we were scammers, or something, and told me that our daughter has to come down and give authorization for this, or else, I need to provide my credit card number. I told her that our daughter "authorized" our stay by putting both units on her credit card, when she made the reservation. When we checked in, we were only asked for a photo ID, no one asked us for a credit card. She became unpleasant, and said that we all need to come down to straighten this out, because they have no other credit card on file. After a bit more of this type of talk, I told her that we live 45 minutes away, and if the room is not paid for, she can send the Sheriff. Then, I told her goodbye and hung up. As far as I was concerned there was nothing "to straighten out", and we were not going to waste our time on this. We had given our daughter our second car to use, so we came and went in separate cars. When we all got home, I told her about this, and she said that she had gone to the Gift Shop before leaving to buy some Saguaro Pillows, and as she passed the Front Desk, a woman had been rude to her. (Don't know if it's the same one!) Such a shame to encounter such a person. We had a more than wonderful stay. Loved our Suite, loved the peacefulness and privacy, and loved the amenities. We never do that, but, this time, took all those little bottles home, as we so loved the scent. Everything was perfect, until the the last ten minutes of our stay.

Dear NYU62, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. I am very sorry to hear about your experience at check-out. That is certainly not to our standard and I have addressed it with the agent in question. I have also ensured that all reservations will be properly notated to prevent future occurrences. I am certain when you return you will not experience the same situation and please feel free to contact me directly the next time you should decide to stay with us. I am so happy to hear that otherwise you enjoyed your stay, and the room, the food and your wonderful time with family. Best regards, Summer Marshall, Front Office Manager

Hotel's Favorite
Let me start off by saying that my wife and I travel a lot. We love nice resorts, food and wine. We have been fortunate enough to stay in the best resorts that money can buy. From places like the Four Seasons, Ritz Carltons, St Regis and world famous boutique resorts like Post Ranch Inn. I am here to tell you that I have never been so impressed with a resort. This place is firing on all cylinders. From the moment you pull up to the valet you realize you not at any place you have been before. The polite and caring staff treat you like royalty when you are there. Every staff member from management down to groundskeeper are genuinely concerned that you are having a great time. They all remember your name and your favorite drinks. I have witnessed exceptional employees at resorts, BUT NOT THE WHOLE STAFF! I mean it was all the little things that impress and are too many to list here. Example: I was at the pool walking to the trash can about 20' away and a staff member intercepted me and said "I'll get that, you relax". WHO DOES THAT TODAY! Then there is the magnificent chef! Every meal was jaw dropping and we cancelled reservations at other fine dining restaurants to keep eating here. Could not believe his talent. Every meal was an adventure. The facility is almost dreamlike. Views are spectacular. Rooms are the best and well maintained. Pool is beautiful, serene and quiet. My wife and I could not believe how nice it was and how impressed we were with a resort. We kept describing it as a magical place. This place is run by geniuses. Don't make the mistake of passing this place up. Many people ask me where to stay or what is my favorite resort. I now will always say hands down the Hacienda. My hat goes off to the amazing staff and owners of this place. Special thanks to David the bartender for his outstanding service and the nice gentleman that gave us a beautiful candle holder from our dining table just because we liked it so much. Keep up the great work! We will be back again!

Dear john h, This has to be one of my favorite reviews! What very kind words, and I am so glad you had such an amazing experience here. How wonderful to be at the top of your list for all the other places you have been to, and will continue to return! Every single point you mentioned, from the valet, to the staff that intercepted you, to the incredible food and views, hit the right spots on why we love this place ourselves and love to make guests like you feel at home. We can't wait to see you return and continue to hit all your favorite points. Thank you for the review!

We love this place so much. The views from our second story facing the Catalina mountains was glorious. The restaurant is fantastic too. Great service and our favorite was the brunch. Love the southwestern touches. Truly a treasure

Our server’s name was David Mills and he was excellent. We’ve had him before and he was just as fantastic now as he was then. His service was amazing and because of his service, we already plan to visit Hacienda del Sol again.

I've done two events there, and am about to do my third. What impresses me most (besides that the place is absolutely gorgeous in a purely Tucson Sonoran way) is that each has been scaled differently, and the staff has been so attentive, so responsive. This time it was Catherine who followed up. She didn't try to oversell, or change what we proposed to inflate anything. Instead, she swiftly, smoothly, graciously gave us exactly what I had hoped for but dared not count on. The service has been impeccable for meals, on the patio, in the lounge, every time I've been. When I'm there, no matter what direction I turn, there's a whole vista, like a carefully constructed still life, to admire. Go for any reason. Day, night, stay, dine. It will probably be perfect.
