Wonderful place. Sharon is a great host and excellent cook. Great location for cycling and hiking, good restaurants nearby, march is a perfect time to visit. Enjoyed cycling up Mount Lemon and in the Saguaro National forest will be coming back soon
I found this little gem when I was planning my trip to climb Mount Lemmon and visit Tucson. My host hospitality was literally at the "next level". Evidently, from a bed and breakfast, I was expecting a nice room and... a breakfast. I found so much more. Someone who was able to direct me toward the best area to visit and the good restaurant. On the day that I climbed Mout Lemmon, I was even invited to share the dinner with them. This was a great vacation for me and my host attention to details and help was a great part of it.
I stayed at Bed and Bagels for 3 days, and my stay was very restful and comfortable. Sharon was of great help to learn about the best places to visit in Tucson, good breakfast, though I did not get to try the hot tub, maybe next time!
With her hospitality, Sharon Arkin of Bed and Bagels provided one of the highlights of our trip to Tucson and the Sonoran Desert. The house is gorgeous and spacious, architecturally harmonious with the beautiful desert setting. Despite being an octogenarian, Sharon is an energetic host, preparing outstanding breakfasts (and occasionally more) that show attention to creativity, detail and the need for a substantial meal to send us on our way for the day. Sharon is also a font of information about the city and the region, especially natural areas like Sabino Canyon where she is a volunteer. She has a wealth of books and videos that were available to us for reference, along with a basket full of binoculars to borrow — and a hot tub in the backyard! I could go on but I'll conclude by saying you'll be doing yourself a favor if you decide to stay at Bed and Bagels. I'll be back at the next opportunity!…
I had a wonderful stay at Bed and Bagels. Sharon was an attentive host, ably accommodating my vegan diet with creative and delicious breakfasts, showing me some cool videos of local natural areas, and making recommendations for natural areas to visit. I loved the hot tub, and her dog and two cats were adorable. I recommend this place!
I took my mom, son and dog to Tucson for a long weekend, and stayed at Sharon’s property. My son had a great time swimming in the pool. She made sure we had what we needed. My son still mentions the nature video she turned on for him to watch. She made a a wonderful breakfast of French toast and fruit. We had a great time, and Sharon was a great hostess.
I enjoyed my stay at Sharon's. I came to the area to cycle up Mt. Lemmon, and she was supportive. No sassy looks or telling me to put the bike in the garage. Her breakfast was very plentiful and all home cooked. She even had some interesting Jewish specialities I enjoyed. It was very much a room in her house, so may not be for everyone. She has animals, and they were all very friendly. I especially loved the two cats. Hot tub was great after the long ride. Great wifi.
Traveling as a family of five is always a challenge. This trip, we were traveling with my three teen boys, my Mom, and myself. My Mom found Beds and Bagels online, and the owner Sharon said she could accommodate 5 guests in one of her larger rooms, which happened to be the converted garage. Yes, it's not a garage anymore, there are four walls now, but it was quite obviously an add-on to the house, as the door to the large room was off the kitchen. This room had one Queen bed, two cots, and a pull-out couch, which was wildly uncomfortable for my Mom. The kids were excited about the pool, but then we found out that the pool didn't have a heater, and since this was February, it was too cold to swim in. Though this is a B&B, Sharon wanted to charge us extra for the breakfast portion $10 each person, per day, so a total of $50 more per day for breakfast. We declined the breakfast and bought a box of granola bars at the grocery store. The bathrooms were a problem. We were in the garage, and to get to the nearest bathroom, we had to walk through the kitchen, which always had dishes in the sink, and was filthy, through the dining room and entry and down the hall, sometimes through animal gates closed for her dogs. The bathrooms were also dirty and in need of a good scrub. I didn't need my own bathroom, but if you had to pee in the middle of the night, this was difficult to navigate. The kitchen was always cluttered with dirty dishes, her medication was left on the counter, and the appliances were also dirty. Our host's DNR papers were also left on the fridge, which seemed weird to have her personal information out in the open for guests to see, but from what I understand, people do that in case paramedics come to your house? We are animal people, so we didn't mind her dogs and cats in the house, and said hello to them every morning when we left the house, but I know that's a problem for others. It truly felt like sleeping over at Grandma's house. Our host wanted our kids to watch a video about the desert with her when we arrived, and I felt bad when they had zero interest. She did make the kids brownies and treats and left them in our room, so I know she was trying to be a good host, but this was truly not our cup of tea. P.S. We did not stay in May 2020, it was February 2019, but the drop-down won't let me go back that far. But I did want to post a review to let travelers know the kind of stay they will have here.…
I try to ride my mountain bike where ever we travel and we went to Tucson for a canine event. While my wife was at the event I went mountain biking at Fantasy Island in Tucson. We stayed at Bed and Bagels of Tucson Bed and Breakfast. Totally dog friendly place to stay. We sat under the clear night sky in the hot tub by the outside pool and sipped wine while looking at the crisp stars. Great place to plan your Tucson stay and Sharon makes some wonderful breakfast so you are fueled up before the start of your day. Feel right at home at Bed and Bagels.
We had a great stay at Bed and Bagels! My husband and I visited with our dog for a weekend getaway. It felt like a home away from home. Sharon was wonderful - breakfast was delicious each morning, she had great local tips and advice and was so loving to our dog, Nellie. Our room was spacious. The shower had great water pressure. The sliding door to the backyard was amazing for our dog; she LOVED the backyard! Thank you for a wonderful stay Sharon!
