My family and I travelled last night from Central Texas and we're excited that we found a pet friendly hotel, only bad thing is that we saw roaches in our hotel room and were very surprised especially because we paid over 100$ for our room. I have a big issue with roaches and hope they fix that soon because it is disgusting. Staff was very nice but the room did smell like pets had been in it as soon as we walked in and there were no trash bags in the trash cans which was weird, I would suggest some pet carpet powder and some Febreze to fix the smell.

Unfortunately, there are limited pet-friendly options in Marana for some reason. We needed a longer term stay so opted for a kitchenette unit. It was extremely dated and worn and also very dark and the poor lighting didn't help. How this property earned the 2018 TA award of excellence is beyond our personal experience. Our expectations are not unreasonable. We expect good service and a clean, well-run property. Pretty basic. So here is our personal experience. Got in the room and the smoke detector was chirping so called the front desk to report and the girl didn't know what that meant. We explained that meant the batteries were dead. She said no maintenance person was on duty during the day at this time and she would come up. This was on the wall way above the level of the desk and she brought round batteries even though we said it required the rectangular. And no, they would not call the maintenance person to come in. She could reach it. My husband had a lot of trouble trying to get it unassembled to get to the battery. She had to go find the correct battery and come back with it and my husband had to climb on top of the desk again to replace it. The official manager was out sick. We never received an apology for this inconvenience and a guest should never have to do this. After further settling in we noticed the room wasn't the cleanest in the world. See photos of the top of the fridge, side of the fridge. cutlery divider, oven drawer. We did specify a kitchenette so this was gross. We reported the kitchen had no toaster or oven ware of any type and we've never encountered that anywhere. Or pot holders. To no avail. We went out to Walmart and bought pot holders, a metal baking sheet with sides, a plastic spatula and a nonstick skillet for making eggs (they had only metal which was fine). They never replaced the kitchen towels until we asked---never had that happen in other places either. Strangely, they never lined any of the waste cans with plastic liners any days, we did using grocery bags. Unsanitary. Didn't clean room, just replaced towels---floors not vacuumed etc. One day at breakfast my husband had waffles and asked about whipped cream, which had been out another day and the lady said we have it, but we're not putting it out today. So guests wanted it, but they told people no. Repeatedly saw employees sitting in the breakfast seating area, which is extremely public and visible, watching tv during their shift or, eating as a group or taking a break---most corporate training programs strongly advise never to do this, you generally avoid it if possible. But to see it daily in one fashion or another was a first. One employee wouldn't look up from the front desk computer at all when guests were going back and forth---it seemed very purposeful to us. Like this person was avoiding eye contact on purpose. Went down one day to ask where Cracker Barrel was. I was vaguely told it was to the left somewhere down by the steak house. In actuality it was directly across the street! This employee had to have known this, we found this very annoying. Based on the summation of what we witnessed and based on the fact my husband graduated from college with a hotel and restaurant management degree, it appeared that not all of those working the front desk had any hospitality training. Secondly, it seems like this may not be a corporate owned property. If it is, this has to be the poorest representation of a hotel chain we've ever encountered. We did ask for an adjustment upon check out but were unsuccessful.

This hotel is conveniently located. It was a trip where I was by myself and felt very safe. The room is beautiful and the surrounding area is too. The staff is always helpful and available. They even have some covered parking.

The hotel was clean and extremely comfortable and lots of room. The only thing I would have changed was the breakfast it was OK... Nothing exciting and the coffee and tea selection was good. Great location close to the highway and great restaurants.. Try Asian spice a absolutely amazing meal.. Check it out.

Very nice setup. Clean rooms and a great staff. If ever in Tucson again, I would definitely stay here. Best La Quinta I have stayed at yet. Breakfast was nothing really special, but it did do the trick. And there was always fresh hot coffee in the lobby at all hours
