I began going out to the White Stallion Ranch earlier this year and loved it so much that I've been back three more times. On this last visit, I brought my family of 22 out for a week long visit. I can't say enough good things about the True family and the staff that they've hired. You won't find a more personable and dedicated group of people anywhere. The ranch is like an oasis away from everything and sitting on over 3000 acres. You can decide to be as busy as you want with soooooo many different activities or you can just lounge by the pool. Either way, this place has everything to occupy you or your families time. We typically have a large family vacation every year and after this trip several of my family members remarked that this was the best trip that we've ever taken and they can't wait to go back. We were served three meals a day and the food was always delicious. You can decide to eat inside or outside depending on the temperature. Lastly, the backdrop of the mountain scenery or the stars at night just cant be beat.

Room - We booked the standard room. This room has one double bed and one single bed, and a separate bath with shower. It was beautifully furnished, clean and functional with space for 2 big suitcases on the floor. There was a chest of drawers for clothes, separate hanging space and a fridge. There were horses literally outside our door and we could see them through the window. So fun! Despite my parents thinking the room would smell of horses being so close, it did not. We think that this location is only used for the standard rooms however we preferred to be near the horses. Staff - The people on reception were very helpful happy people. Also there were very attentive staff waiting on the tables during meal times, always trying to help and accommodate needs (we are vegetarian). We cannot stress enough how friendly everyone at this family run ranch were to guests. Facilities - We were given a handy map of the ranch, facilities etc. This was was helpful and after a walk around the complex it all made sense. We used the pool a few times - it has a shallow and deeper area. The pool area was clean with lots of deck chairs. There is a great gift shop, well stocked, with lots of great stuff - huge variety of t-shirts. We also bought some nice postcards. Again super friendly helpful person working in the shop. Entertainment - Every night there was evening entertainment from hay wagon rides to water colour painting. Also we really enjoyed the stuntman demonstrating gun twirling and rope spinning with fire. There was also a creepy crawly creatures night. Horse Riding - One of the best things about the ranch is you have the same horse for the whole week. I absolutely adored my horse called Rubito. I still miss him! The horse trader who bought him said he was “the most beautiful Indian pony I have ever seen”. There were tons of trails to the point that you would not go on the same trail twice in a week. We went on a range of trails when we stayed for 6 nights and did 5 days of riding. There were lots of riding options to choose from each day. It was often very hard to choose as I wanted to do everything! My favourite continuation ride was the "Echo Mountain" ride which was a new trail for January 2019. It had some great views and one of the longest canters/lopes for a ride. Some of the riding activities e.g. fast rides require a quick check for safety that you are able to canter and start/stop your horse in the arena. We really enjoyed cattle sorting, team penning and the horsemanship events which we could not see available on any other ranch. The man who did the horsemanship was excellent. I got the opportunity to go in a round pen and try to do join up with a horse. It was a totally unique experience which I never thought I would be able to try when we booked the ranch. It was a relatively new option and really fascinating - thanks Gabe! Helpful tips and things to note: - There are books in the hotel lobby listing out each of the horses in the ranch and a bit about them. It is fun to look up your horse. - It is good to shut the wooden shutters inside the room when the sun sets to avoid bugs coming into the room. Also only switch on the small bedside lights and not the main room light. - Fill up water bottles with half water and half ice as then the water stays cooler for longer. It can be over 40degC in July! - There are free horse treats to feed the horses at Reception. - You can pay $20 each for a group lesson for about an hour to work on your riding. We loved our time on the ranch and didn't want to leave! We still talk about our experiences almost a year later with fond memories and plan to return.

Booked as a bucket list trip with my father, both of us have always wanted to ride in the desert like they do in the films and finally achieved the dream in Feb 2020. Dad had never been to the States or done long haul, so it was a holiday of firsts for both of us! From the get go, we were so impressed, everything was incredible. The food - wow. The people - wonderful. The horses - gorgeous. The facilities - amazing. The organisation, getting lots of people on and off horses at multiple times - top notch. My father hadn't ridden for 10 years+ and from the first ride looked like he did it everyday! Riding through incredible scenery, with like-minded folk. Enjoying the sunshine, the occasional storm (yes the hail!), talking to people from all over the world. Shout out to Steve who took us to the shooting range the first time, we enjoyed it so much - there was only Dad and I signed up! I have never shot a gun in my life, and over the week I got dubbed "Annie Oakley" - I think I found my skill :) Also to George who did the black powder guns with us, your Dad is the MAN!! Unfortunately, 2 days before we were due to come home I was bucked off on a fast ride. I wont say fall off because I didn't. I had ridden then same horse for the duration of the week, done a lope test and its just one of those things and I fully accept that it happens when riding horses (I have ridden since I was 6 years old). However, the reason I simply cant give a 5 star review is because of how the aftermath was dealt with. The wranglers on the ride didn't seem to know what to do with me, a man who was on the ride and was behind me in the line up was the one who asked me the concussion questions. I came off in the desert, they couldn't get the truck to me (again, I appreciate this would be difficult), so I had to walk on a potentially broken ankle to get the truck. I got asked if I wanted to go to hospital, it was never insisted that we go to make sure I was OK, that they were taking me no questions asked, and also to cover themselves (I would have thought this is required?). I was in shock, I didn't know if I needed medical assistance or not to be honest and even though everyone looked after me (bought me ice, told me to go in the hot tub), I feel that the whole incident wasn't taken as seriously as it could have been. I never saw my horse again after that, even though I looked for him as I wanted to say goodbye. I wrote a detailed account of the incident and aftermath once home (I recorded the entire ride on my action camera which helped prompt my memory), and once I could process what happened, sent it to WSR to ask what precautions they would put in place going forward to assure everyone's safety, thinking "I cant be the only person to be bucked off?" For 2 weeks I received no reply, no acknowledgement to my (friendly) email. The reply I got was a standard two liner as follows: "Dear Maria, (they got my name wrong) We received your e-mail and are very sorry that you are still feeling badly from your fall. All of us sincerely wish you a speedy and complete recovery. The True Family". None of my questions answered but there we go, I guess. On reflection, to say I am disappointed is an understatement and the whole experience has really taken the shine off what was otherwise a once in a lifetime experience.

We were visiting my family for a week and I hadn’t ridden in a very long time and wanted to go. It was located right around the corner from where we were staying. Although I called White Stallion Ranch, they only offered rides for guests. But they share the land with another group that offers rides on the same land. So we went, and it was so amazing! We went an hour and a half which was perfect. We took some trails and our guide was very knowledgeable. The scenery was beautiful! The horses were all very well mannered and we had a wonderful time! We will definitely be going back on our next visit.
