We had a fabulous time during our long weekend at Ventana! Compared to the hotel, the lodge has a much more peaceful vibe, the location at the foot of the Catalina mountains is beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the sun rise and set over the desert. The staff was incredibly friendly. The suite with loft that we had booked for three family members was perfect – everyone had their area and bathroom (although the stairs to the loft might frighten some people and three TVs aren’t really necessary in a space with three beds). Our balcony was toward the parking lot which was less scenic but allowed us to enjoy the January sun all day. We enjoyed the restaurant as well and went there for lunch and dinner – it has lots of nice options for very fair prices (and the Hipsterville IPA is the best!!!) and there’s an outdoor fire in the evenings. The spa is great too – I can highly recommend the facial with Sonja, who is super skilled and uses very nice high-end products (I have sensitive skin) and again, the prices are very fair. The women’s locker room has a jacuzzi, dry sauna and steam sauna which was a very relaxing special treat – and it’s open 24 hours. We didn’t play golf or tennis but played some pickleball – there are lots of courts and it never felt busy. Since it’s a member club it didn’t have a touristy feel at all, rather very relaxed and local. The location is excellent for hiking as well – we enjoyed lovely hikes in Sabino Canyon and the Catalina Mountains, and Mt Lemmon isn’t far either. The only problem was that we had to leave after three nights.

The "other side" of the Lowe's resort at Ventana Canyon -- much quieter and unique rooms make this an awesome choice. Staff are awesome and the food is amazing at the on site restaurants. Very short walk to the pro shop and the carts to get going on a wonderful golf experience. Also, just steps from tennis/pickleball if that is your thing.

Highly recommend !!!!

Ventana Staff:
I would like to give a special thank you to front desk Lizette (sp) and Enriqueta for extra effort. Not only did they make the necessary bill adjustments (expecting one more adjustment shortly, a $170 golf credit for unplayed round) but they did that, along with retrieving all the luggage from the rooms. The golf cart and bag crew were outstanding, especially on the last day assembling and delivering clubs to the front entrance for easy loading and departure. The shuttles to/from airport and restaurants were very timely, a significant plus.
Thank you Mr. Aguilar and Doyel and your team for enhancing our golf trip. William Silva Rm 218.

My son and I needed close-in local accommodation in a family emergency. The Lodge staff members were universally compassionate and helpful in many different ways. Although it was necessary to change rooms during our stay, each room was exquisitely comfortable and comforting; pristinely clean; provided excellent technology for all the business we needed to accomplish; and was ready on time for easy transfer with gracious bell service assistance. Meals in the Grill, alone and with friends, were easy to organize, served hot or cold with nourishing fresh ingredients as well as discretion and care. We deeply appreciated the sustaining sanctuary of The Lodge during an extremely difficult situation for our family.

We were in a large spacious King suite on the second floor with a partial view of the mountains.
Although some of the furnishings are showing their age, the bed is very comfortable with good quality linens.
The kitchen was adequately equipped for our needs. Keep in mind that the fridge is small (counter height) so that it is important to do smaller grocery orders.
Washroom was very modern with large shower and stand alone claw tub bath. Excellent bath products were in large pump containers.
Vaulted ceilings are a nice feature. Bring an eye mask if the morning light coming through the v-shaped window will bother you.
Air conditioning fan is noisy.
The guest laundry (free) is very convenient. Bring laundry soap or you can buy at the Lodge.
Pool is large with lots of loungers and umbrellas as well as Bali beds and couches under shade (cabanas). Large hot tub. Bar at pool. Second pool with swim lanes. All the facilities (tennis, pickle ball, fitness and pools) are shared with members of the Ventana Canyon Golf and Raquet club. The weekends tended to be more crowded at the pool. We moved to the lane pool which was very quiet.
Food at the resort restaurant was excellent with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Lots of good dining options just down the road in the plazas at Sunrise and Kolb.
Monthly calendar of events is available in the lobby.
Thanks to Wayne Doyle who assisted with our reservation.

Love everything about Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The resort is quiet, the food is delicious and the staff is extremely helpful. It's such an easy location for our extended family of 12 to find appropriate lodging options, a variety of activities for kids and adults and meals are so easy at the cafe, dining room or poolside.

The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is a hidden gem! The sophisticated, laid back vibe makes this resort warm and welcoming without feeling pretentious or highbrow. The guard gated entrance gave us piece of mind about leaving some luggage in our car.

Rooms are super spacious, nicely appointed and extra lean. I loved the bathrobe so much that I purchased one from the pro-shop. At $99 it was an great deal considering the quality is far better than you will find at most department stores.

The on-site restaurant has great service, excellent food and an outdoor patio with beautiful views of the Catalina Mountains. The sourdough French toast breakfast is a noteworthy menu item.

The only small negative was the bathroom in our suite. It was extremely roomy but it had a shower/bathtub combo with a shower curtain. Nothing luxurious about that! The expectation at a resort is a soak tub and separate shower.

Overall, a stay here is money well spent. It’s a great property!

Dear Balad, Thank you for highlighting all of the areas that you enjoyed while staying with us. We appreciate the feedback and are happy that you enjoyed your visit so much! On future visits, know that some of the rooms do feature a walk-in shower with separate soaking tub. They vary throughout the resort so be sure to speak to the front desk to make the request. Other rooms feature the shower/tub combo and some are walk-in shower only. Hopefully that will help make your next stay even better! Until next time, John Moritz Guest Services Manager

This is our 3rd trip to Ventana Lodge for a spring golf and birthday vacation. The golf package is reasonable and the resort is clean with excellent staff to accommodate any and all needs. The pool area is large with food and beverage service available. The two golf courses are well groomed with plush green fairways that provide a fair and entertaining challenge. The lodge is shared with members so at times can feel stuffy, but that relates more to the attitudes of the members and not applicable to any of the staff. The food is really tasty and breakfast included in the golf package along with a $50 resort coupon. There have been noticeable updates since last year and our suite was just beautiful! I noticed not all rooms have gotten the updates so hopefully it’s in progress. There is a free van service that will drive you within a 2 mile radius for dining out or trips to the store for supplies (rooms have kitchenettes), which we love! There is a fun hiking trail on the premises by the Loews resort that we frequent with some good variation in terrain. Overall we love Ventana Canyon Lodge for the golf, views, and overall accommodations!

What a dump. No hot water on day 1, supposedly fixed, then no more on day 3 and they finally moved us. TVs difficult to figure out, 1 sink in bathroom, a cavernous charmless room with loud heating unit that wakes you up when it comes on. Junky, undecorated rooms feel more like camp or prisoner holding rooms. Truly pathetic. Go up the street to Lowe’s Ventana for an elegant experience but do not waste your money here.

Second time staying there, loved the fact our was was very welcomed. The afternoon after we arrived the was a box of dog treats at the door, nice touch. Rooms were huge, lots of room to move around and not disturb someone else that might be sleeping later. Nice huge deck overlooking the valley, nice place to relax on a warm evening. The breakfast selection was great, generous portions and very reasonable priced. My wife is a lap swimmer and they have a really nice lap pool as well as a regular pool with a bar and food available. They have nice tennis, pickleball courts as well as golf. This is our go to place, many great restaurants are close by.
