From the host/owners to the room to the breakfasts, Peacock House B+B excelled. I felt as if I was living in someone’s very clean + comfortable inn. People come here year after year. I know this because of what other guests said + because so many guests were engrossed in conversations with our hosts - Jim + Marybeth. Kudos to both of them for offering a home-away-from home in a beautiful building in a wonderful city.
the peacock house is beautiful! jim and mary beth are lovely. they are living their dream by owning a B & B and all who stay there are benefitting! you can tell that they have thought of every detail to make guests comfortable - from the beautifully decorated, well equipped rooms, to the way the delicious food is served and presented, to the overall ambiance. I am vegan so mary beth made me her really yummy, fluffy lavender lemon pancakes without eggs or dairy - they were fabulous! and lubec is such a charming town right on the US/canadian border. we are SOOO glad we drove up from acadia! Trip type Vacation
We just spent three nights in the Peacock Room at the Peacock House, and it was truly a relaxing and rejuvenating experience! Beth and Jim are very good at making you feel right at home, and they have thought of everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. We hope to return some day!
Fabulous find while on our trip through Maine!! Mary Beth and Jim were very friendly and offered great suggestions for nearby dinner. The place was super clean, beautifully decorated, updated, a very comfortable bed and delicious food! Thank you for a wonderful stay!! Highly recommend!
This is an amazing bed & breakfast. The bedroom was beautifully decorated. The room is called the Margaret Chase Smith suite. It had a bathroom en suite with a lovely large tub. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The bed linens were very nice. The room had two comfortable chairs and good lighting to read by. The breakfast was delicious. Cooked and served with great care. I would highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone wanting to stay in Lubec.
The Innkeepers are very friendly and great conversationalists. They are very concerned about a guests experience during their stay. Breakfast is good with a homemade touch. We made a suggestion concerning a shelf in a bathroom and they were going to install one after we checked out. We will stay here again.
While in Lubec we stayed at The Peacock House bed and breakfast. I highly recommend!! Well appointed, beautifully decorated, and pristinely clean. We stayed in the Peacock room - it was gorgeous, comfy, and quiet. The innkeepers were wonderful, helpful, welcoming people. The meals were delicious and they did a fantastic job working with my food issues/intolerances. If you're ever in the Lubec area, do stay! Lubec is a small town, but it is so charming, the scenery is dramatic, the people are kind, and you can pop over into Canada, to Campobello Island.
A great place to stay while visiting the Lubec and surrounding area. The innkeepers are wonderful and very welcoming hosts. The breakfast was delicious each day. The inn itself is meticulous and provided a very comfortable place to stay.
We live in Maine and have made it an annual tradition to spend our anniversary week in some place or at some accommodation in our state to which we have never been. This year we are so happy that we found the Peacock. The inn, while traditional, is fresh, welcoming and has a casual elegance. Our room was spacious, with a king bed, sitting area, fridge and wet bar. Wi-fi is fast and free. Breakfast, served at 7:30 or 8: 30 was fantastic: yogurt and fresh fruit, frittata, blueberry pop-over pancakes and homemade turkey sausage were all served while we were there. The freshly brewed coffee was perfect. The Innkeepers, Mary Beth and Jim, are friendly, welcoming and are happy to share their insider knowledge of Lubec, Eastport, the entire Downeast Bold Coast and Campobello. Mary Beth expertly prepares the breakfast and I guessed that Jim is the coffee master! Check out their website: while some websites may not be exactly accurate, forthcoming or may exaggerate, theirs is absolutely on the mark and, among other things, mentions that you might want to extend your stay. Yup, that’s another thing that’s absolutely true! We will be back.…
The peacock house is one of the nicest B&Bs I have stayed in! My husband and I were in the spacious Peacock suite - a large, clean and comfortable room with a fireplace, small fridge, Tv, desk, king sized bed, and nice bathroom. Public spaces at the inn included several downstairs rooms, decks and gardens. Everything was comfortably and interestingly decorated. The hosts were readily available - friendly but never intrusive - and served a very nice breakfast. Given COVID, they have scattered small tables in the ~ 4 downstairs rooms, seating 2-4 or so, and have 2 breakfast seatings. I appreciated that we could choose which seating as this is not the case everywhere, and does help with planning your day. The Inn is an easy 5-10 min walk to the Canadian border to Campobello and to the small downtown area of Lubec, although there is easy parking in town.…
