Savvy travelers looking for gracious accommodations in Downeast Maine know that Peacock House is THE place to stay. Located in the easternmost town in the US, Peacock House was built by a ship captain in 1860 and and has been a Bed and Breakfast since 1989. The inn has seven well-appointed suites (with king beds) and standard-sized rooms (with queen beds), each with a private bath. There are also four common rooms on the first floor where you can mingle with other guests or find a more quiet place to relax. The outdoor deck is also a welcoming space for our guests to enjoy. The inn is conveniently located with four blocks of shops and restaurants. You'll be greeted each morning by wafts of a delectable breakfast mingled with the aroma of locally roasted coffee. Savor a breakfast that's created to please both the eye and palate. We enjoy providing foods that are locally sourced, including our signature Downeast turkey sausage, made right here at the inn. Experience the rugged coast of the Bay of Fundy with its dramatic 20 foot tides, explore renowned hiking trails, and visit nearby beaches and lighthouses. Whales, seals, bald eagles and Atlantic puffins are among our local summer residents. Campobello Island, the summer home of Franklin Roosevelt is less than three miles from the inn. Lubec is also the home of Summer Keys, an adult music and arts program. Come to Lubec to escape the hustle and stress of life and and to experience "Maine as it used to be" in this authentic fishing village. Visit Peacock House and experience why tripadvisor reviewers have given it the highest quality ratings in the area. You'll be glad you did.

As you walk up the front steps you'll be greeted by the fragrant lavender that adorns the gate and sets the tone for the tranquil experience you'll have at the Peacock House. Each room is tastefully decorated with tones of the personality of this seaside village with butter yellows, rich greens and the blues of the bay. Each sitting room boasts a collection of art depicting the areas virtues and a gorgeous piano if you wish to play.

The innkeepers like to push the boundaries for your breakfast menu with an unconventional paring of delicious fare such as a breakfast burrito and fresh tomatoes or a dutch baby with fresh local blueberry compote that will have you saying, "What a great idea".

Perched on a knoll in a quaint neighborhood of well kept homes with eclectic architecture the street is appropriately called Summer Street. The grounds boast a white picket fence and a bordering collection of regional perennials bursting with life and abundant bird species and hummingbirds and my favorite, a sweet pea trellis surrounding the patio.

Color is everywhere you look and will surely brighten your soul. This is where you want to stay for your restful visit to Lubec Maine. Staying at the inn will take you back to a time when living was easy and the sweet tea brewed on the back steps in the summer sun.

My first visit to Lubec was a great getaway. I stayed at the beautiful Peacock House Bed and Breakfast. The house is so comfortable and inviting, the rooms are bright, clean and tastefully decorated, and the gardens around the house were in full bloom, colorful and charming. The Innkeepers Mary Beth and Jim are great hosts and very knowledgeable about the area and its interesting history. The breakfasts were beautifully presented and very delicious!
Loved sitting back and relaxing in their several spacious common area rooms for guests to enjoy within the house. Would highly recommend!

Our stay at this wonderful, charming and quaint bed and breakfast in the small town of Lubec Maine was absolutely delightful. Mary Beth and Jim are gracious hosts making sure you have everything you need. As soon as you walk in the front door your breath is taken away with how pristine and well appointed each room is. Attention to detail is given to each room making sure the local culture of Lubec is well represented. We stayed in the Down East Room on the second floor and it was clean and beautiful making us feel safe and at home. Mary Beth makes sure all dietary needs are addressed for their well-planned, delicious and exquisite presented breakfasts. Highly recommend this wonderful gem and look forward to coming back again soon.
Thanks again Mary Beth and Jim for making our vacation absolutely fabulous!

Jim and Marybeth are delightful hosts that share the story of the Peacock House and the town behind the success of the Sardine King. Everything is well thought out for a pleasant stay, warm conversation and a scrumptious breakfast each morning. The Peacock House is rich in history but has all the modern conveniences such as more than adequate internet bandwidth, a fridge & freezer in the bar area for a re-freeze of your ice packs and a quiet atmosphere at night. Breakfast was at either 7:30 AM or 8:30 and tables were available throughout the first floor. Jim and Marybeth have a clean, beautiful home with paintings, a massive book and CD collection, baby grand piano and guitar & ukulele if you are so musically inclined. Conveniently located a few blocks from downtown Lubec it was relaxing to stroll through this delightful community and see what it was like back in time when sardines were harvested from the sea by hard-working hardy folks that helped each other selflessly. Thanks for a great stay! The Kane Family

the peacock house is beautiful! jim and mary beth are lovely. they are living their dream by owning a B & B and all who stay there are benefitting! you can tell that they have thought of every detail to make guests comfortable - from the beautifully decorated, well equipped rooms, to the way the delicious food is served and presented, to the overall ambiance. I am vegan so mary beth made me her really yummy, fluffy lavender lemon pancakes without eggs or dairy - they were fabulous! and lubec is such a charming town right on the US/canadian border. we are SOOO glad we drove up from acadia!

Lubec, Maine is the eastern most town in the US right across from Campobello. We stayed at the peacock house b&b for one week. The accommodations are absolutely superb. The hosts Mary Beth and Jim are very accomplished hosting this house. It is located very close to just about everything. From some rooms you even have ocean views. Breakfast each day was different and very delicious. Mary Beth is an accomplished gourmet cook. The rooms are beautifully furnished and absolutely clean. There are several common rooms or one can listen to music or play on the piano or the guitar or just choose CDs. There are two more rooms where one can relax. Mary Beth and Jim made extra effort to make me feel comfortable because they discovered that I was not well . We will definitely come back because it is the most serene and welcoming place we have been, and we recommend the Peacock house highly.

Mary Beth and Jim are consummate hosts. Such a perfect place to stay during these challenging times. My room was cozy and immaculate. The common areas are so beautiful and spaced in a way that guests can actually chat with each other safely. Breakfast is delightful, especially their homemade turkey sausage.

We live in Maine and have made it an annual tradition to spend our anniversary week in some place or at some accommodation in our state to which we have never been. This year we are so happy that we found the Peacock. The inn, while traditional, is fresh, welcoming and has a casual elegance. Our room was spacious, with a king bed, sitting area, fridge and wet bar. Wi-fi is fast and free. Breakfast, served at 7:30 or 8: 30 was fantastic: yogurt and fresh fruit, frittata, blueberry pop-over pancakes and homemade turkey sausage were all served while we were there. The freshly brewed coffee was perfect.

The Innkeepers, Mary Beth and Jim, are friendly, welcoming and are happy to share their insider knowledge of Lubec, Eastport, the entire Downeast Bold Coast and Campobello. Mary Beth expertly prepares the breakfast and I guessed that Jim is the coffee master! Check out their website: while some websites may not be exactly accurate, forthcoming or may exaggerate, theirs is absolutely on the mark and, among other things, mentions that you might want to extend your stay. Yup, that’s another thing that’s absolutely true! We will be back.

We enjoyed three nights at Peacock House and loved every moment! Mary Beth and Jim were gracious hosts and provided all of the comforts of home! Breakfast each morning was a surprise and delight and was always just what we needed to send us off for a day of hiking and exploring the beautiful area. Thank you for making our trip so special!

Hi! Unfortunately, there's no trains that go to this part of the state. There is, however a bus once a day that stops about 11 miles outside of town. It comes directly from the Bangor airport.Run by West Transportation. Let me know if you have any further transportation questions- I'd be glad to be of help. Mary Beth, Innkeeper
