There was a time when the Omni Providence was a pretty spiffy hotel. I even stayed there when it was a Westin. Sadly as of 2022, the hotel is not what it used to be. The staff was pleasant but this is not even close to the 4-star hotel it was not that long ago. Stayed in a room in what they describe as a 1 bedroom suite. It is just a larger room with a couch with no partition between the living area and the bed. Note to Omni, in the hotel business, its really called a "Junior Suite." Its obviously not one of the renovated rooms because the television, while a flat screen is definitely 10+ years old and the thermostat on the wall was a retro-2005 model. Furthermore, there is no restaurant for breakfast. Zero! Not even a room service breakfast is offered, Instead the hotel sets up a so-called Continental grab and go breakfast in a meeting room. Its not even worth the $15 they're asking and a guest in the elevator called it $15 for some fruit. I didn't even see cereal being offered. He wasn't exaggerating. Would up walking up the block to the Renaissance for a hot sit-down breakfast. Wished we would have stayed there from the get-go.…
In the past Walking up to a hotel counter for me almost always ends in disappointment or frustration. This was not the case for me when I went ro check in for. I was greeted by a lovely young woman name Daysha. She exudes hospitality, she anticipated my needs, and far exceeded my expectations. I would toile to take this opportunity once again to commend her on working the graveyard shift and for putting with the general public. Even though the room I requested which Was a two queen wasn't available she put me into a king suite and had the housekeeper waiting at the door with a roll away bed. She asked me if I wanted one and I said no but she still had it waiting for us at the door. that to me is hospitality 101 anticipating the guests needs. I think in this industry we hear all too much about the negative experiences from guests and not enough about the positive ones. So thank you Daysha for making my stay at the Omni providence one I will not forget.…
The hotel is located next to Providence Mall, which is very convenient to everything. Despite having small car arrival area, the valet is quite efficient in helping people to park-disembark the car. We also never had to wait more than 10 minutes for the car. The lobby is very beautiful. The building is a bit older, so it is charming. The checkin staff was very polite, attentive, and helpful. They also try successfully anticipate many of your needs based on senile size. Kids got small backpacks with crafts and coloring items, cookies and milk in the room. They loved it. We loved that housekeeping was daily without need to ask for it. Thank you. Housekeeping staff was also very kind. One issue was heating as it was not working in our suite. In plus side, they have maintenance staff available even late in the evening. However, we eventually had to move to a different suite (higher floor 🙂) as the attempt to fix did not work. The bed was very good, the shower pressure was excellent. The view on higher floors is nice. There is a confusion with how they name corner suites. They call them “one-bedroom” suits” , but although spacious , those should be instead called “junior suite” as there is no separation between a bed-area and the rest. Dining options are complicated. We are happy that they have just added ability to have a breakfast. It is limited continental, so now hot items, but there ate also no meats/ cheeses. I reduced my initial desire to give this hotel 5 stars due to in part to how they charge for breakfast. The fee is $15/adult - ok, but they add (undisclosed) $2.70 of service charge, BUT the breakfast is self-served as there is no waiter to sit you, bring you menu/drinks/etc. They should either charge $17.70 or do not add non-existing charge. In-room dining is available, but from 11am-9pm with limited menu, which sadly does not have any deserts. There is full restaurant attached to the hotel - Fleming’s - very good - their meat is excellent (pricey, while worth it). The hotel used to have an inside restaurant and caffe, but they are closed. Pool is on smaller side, while adequate when not crowded. They also have attached jacuzzi. Fitness center is present. Sadly, there is no spa on premises. The Hotel is connected to the mall by a skybridge, which is very convenient. Overall, it is nice hotel with very good staff.…
Pros: large room, pleasant and helpful staff, attached to convention center (if you are going there) Cons: located close to the highway so there is street noise, few restaurants within walking distance (no restaurant on site), bad mattress (woke up with sore back both mornings), checkout time is 11AM. If you stay until noon you will be charged an additional fee
They charged more than I saw online with a really high tax. But the room is great! Very quite and with a great view. Parking is extra fee, 20/night and if you want to use it, there is extra fee. The good part is they have breakfast with 15 dollars and connect with the mall on the second floor.
