This is definitely a fun place to stay! The hotel ghost tour & the Séance Show were great for my teens (one claimed she did not sleep all night!). Our room was dated but we were in a room next to a haunted room!! Comfty but no AC...None needed! Biggest surprise: the restaurant food was great & the service was... More

Since my daughter lives in CO have been to Estes Park various times and walked through the Stanley, but had never stayed there before. However, this trip friends were with us that had never been across the mountains, so we planned a mini trip staying at the Stanley Hotel on the way. It was such a unique experience. The entire... The Stanley Hotel is a jewel set amidst majestic mountains in Estes Park, CO. It also is what best can be called a scizophrenic environment -- 2/3rds tourist attraction and 1/3rd grand dame resort. During the day -- particularly in the summer and on weekends, the lobby resembles Grand Central Station at rush hour -- wall-to-wall with milling tourists bearing... More

We stayed in the 4th floor along with our two teenage daughters. We did the ghost tour which I would highly recommend if you're into the paranormal thing. Nothing crazy happened as far as paranormal activity in our room but we had an amazing time exploring the hotel and enjoying it's history. The bed was incredibly comfortable and room faced... More

It is an historical hotel in the mountains so you should not expect air conditioning or large rooms. The setting is lovely as is the hotel as long as you enjoy old buildings, which we do. The crowds made dining difficult and the dining staff seemed overwhelmed, however, the bar manager was very thoughtful and courteous while we were waiting... More

Our overnight at the Stanley Hotel did not disappoint. The food was delightful, the service was impeccable and the night's entertainment was intriguing and thought-provoking. The rooms and public areas have been beautifully maintained. The staff is eager to help guests with arrangements and tours. Tours sell out early. Be sure to book in advance.

Be aware this is an old build you see in other reviews complaints about the lack of A/C, small rooms etc. The hotel is what it is, it is old, some aspects are dated but if you accept its charms as and old mountain hotel. The food is great if tad expensive, and the whisky bar (if you love whisky)... More

As we arrived, we met Chad. He provided us with some great recommendations for sightseeing, for dining, and some fun coffee houses. He made our entry into the hotel very pleasant. Another plus: the champagne and truffles we have arranged arrived moments after we got into the room. Terrific timing, and terrific coordination. The room itself was a little sketchy.... More

Well, we're glad we stayed here at least once. It has an interesting story, and the views are great. We stayed in the neighboring "bachelor" lodge, and the building has been preserved and renovated quite well. Our front corner room was large with several large windows. The furnishings and bathroom were less than what I expected, design- and quality-wise, given... More

Hello ortteb1, Thank you for this great review of your trip here to visit the Stanley. We do have a fairly large number of tourists during summer, which is the high season for Estes Park. The property has not had a pool since it was damaged in the 2013 floods. Thank you for visiting, and we appreciate your feedback! Warm... More

My family recently stayed at the Stanley for a family reunion in Estes Park. The primary attraction was the frightening prospect of having a paranormal encounter in the main lodge--the hotel that served as the inspiration for Stephen King's terrifying horror love "The Shining" (subsequently made into a film directed by Stanley Kubrick). When we arrived I was informed that... More
