Castle Mountain Lodge is as much for the soul as for the body. Perfectly maintained log cabins and rooms, this lodge is run by some of the friendliest people in Colorado. The lodge is only a few miles from the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and has easy access to the highway over a covered bridge. For me, the greatest attraction is the glorious Fall River running right next to the cabins--a perfect background for sound sleeping! Sitting next to the river in one of the lodge's Adirondack chairs with a good book may be as close to Paradise as you can get on this earth.

Castle Mountain Lodge is a SUPER nice Lodging choice for the Estes park area. The location is perfect for the fall river entrance station of Rocky Mountain park and a short quick drive to the grocery store and downtown Estes. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the amnesties in the kitchen are perfect for in cabin meals and as well a grill is available for outdoor meal prep. Our unit had a hot tub which was perfect for a late evening relaxing Tottie and a GREAT clear view of the starry sky. The Management and staff were impeccable and were always available to answer any questions and help with any needs that that we had and as well very friendly. An ice cream social is held on Tuesday afternoons so don't miss this and a fire pit is available on the river for bon fires and s'more makin. LOVE this resort!!!

Our cottage was in peaceful mountainous surroundings away from the hubbub of the town. The cottage was up to date, fresh and had all necessary supplies in the adequate kitchentte. We were checked on daily to see if we required anything - fresh towels or garbage pickup. The property is attractive and well-maintained,

I love this place - hands down. I have probably stayed here 15+ times in the past 7 years. This time just feels very different. Not the family owned, welcome to have you back, is there anything we can do for you feel from the past. On top of that, when we checking in (with 2 dogs) it was noted that things are back to normal (it was not explained that someone would be coming in our cabin) and that if I needed anything put the little tag on the door or come to the office. Dogs were left in their kennels in a closed room while we went into town. Someone came into the cabin, made the bed in one room, cleaned the kitchen, dumped the trash and I guarantee you the dogs had to have been pitching a fit. One dog ripped his kennel. We have NEVER had anyone come into our rooms and I am totally dumbstruck that this wasn’t clearly and poignantly communicated. I am posting this as a 2 to get the attention of management because 1) communication at checkin needs to be much clearer and 2) to increase the safety of the staff and 3) not only my animals but anyones animals. I wouldn’t walk into a cabin with dogs barking EVER. Totally stunned!

Thanks for the feedback and I'm terribly sorry your stay was anything less than perfect. Part of our daily care of the guests is coming into the cottage, replacing towels, collecting trash and tidying up, as it has always been. We did shift from that for about 18 months during the pandemic but have gone back to our regular care of our guests. Our front desk managers have been made doubly aware to communicate this to all guests at check-in, and, again, I'm sorry for your experience with us on your latest visit.

We had to cancel 5 days prior due to a family illness and emergency. The owner refused to issue any refund - we had paid more than half upfront, and immediately charged my credit card when I canceled the reservation. Citing his cancellation policy - must be done 7 days prior - I have been charged without consideration, so I ma paying the owner for an empty cabin. This was an issue that was out of my hands and I was unable to travel.

I'm so sorry your experience dealing with us was unsatisfactory. We do have a strict cancel policy as we guarantee (don't oversell our rooms) our cabins at the time of booking. If this is a concern for potential guest, we do recommend inexpensive travel insurance that will reimburse for any unforeseen circumstances.

Our family of 4 stayed at Castle Mountain Lodge’s Castle Glen cabin from 6/10-6/14. The property is very quaint as well as super clean and well cared for. The lodge is very close to the Fall River entrance of RMNP so we were able to get into the park quickly each morning and not get stuck in a long line. We also used the hot tub (relaxing), laundry room (squeaky clean), and outdoor games area (fun). Castle Glen is a great cabin to stay in for a family of 4 to 5 people because it has plenty of room and a deck that looks right out to Fall River — Super Relaxing! There was even a bull Elk that hung out on the property for several days which gave us lots of photo opportunities! Thanks to Castle Mountain Lodge and staff for giving us a comfortable place to stay on our family vacation to Estes Park & RMNP!

Amazing property and amazing staff. We have stayed at several other properties in the area and this one was by far my favorite! We were in town for our daughter's destination wedding. Several friends and family members stayed in different dwellings on this property and all were very pleased.

We had such a magical stay at Castle Mountain Lodge. My family of 5 stayed in Castle Spruce. It was perfect size for us, loved the outdoor hot tub which we used nearly every night. The kitchen was stocked with everything we would need to cook, you just have to bring the food/seasonings and Safeway is only a 4 min. drive away. I used the coin laundry on property on my last day there and despite doing laundry, it was actually peaceful and a nice place to do it.
The grounds of the whole place are just beautiful. Loved the hammocks and chairs that are scattered for use around the property. Spent many mornings and evenings walking along the river. You can also hike up a trail behind the cabins and get a pretty view of the mountains around, especially at sunset. We spent a couple nights having a fire at the firepit near the river which they always have plenty of wood available for use and even prongs for marshmallows or hotdog roasting. I loved that you can borrow games from the office for your stay. We used yard golf and corn hole. You can also rent DVD's. My 5 year old loved the playground on the property. The cabins are only a short drive from the Fall River entrance to RMNP which is an easy drive to make in the evenings to go into the park, The Alluvial Fan is really pretty in the mornings and evenings. This was a bucket list trip and I'm so happy we stayed at Castle Mountain Lodge. If we are ever in the area again I would definitely choose to stay here.

Well-kept cabins, paved drive, nearby stream, hot tub, and playground make this a perfect family spot. We stayed with twenty family members of varying ages. The central picnic area provided a gathering spot where we could enjoy chatting and watching kids fish. Guests are low-key and polite. The spot is secluded by tall pines and canyon walls.
I highly recommend Castle Mountain Lodge.

I stayed in River Castle 7 for 4 days and could not have been happier. The cabin is very spacious, especially for only two people (you could fit six using the trundle day bed and pullout couch). Hot tub worked perfectly, kitchen had everything we needed, and the fireplace was much appreciated in January (dry wood available at the office). Everyone we spoke to made us feel right at home - there are board games to borrow at the main office, along with snow shoes and microspikes for rent. We used the microspikes to go into the park, and they were a life saver on the frozen lakes. This had all the privacy and charm of an Airbnb, with the amenities of a lodge. Would definitely stay again.

How long is the drive from this property to Denver airport? Thanks.

We've made it easily in two hours either going through Boulder, or up I-25 through Ft Collins. The second way is a prettier drive going through the canyon.

You are correct. There is no smoking allowed on the premises of any kind. You need to be especially careful right now if you go off premises as there are burn bans in place, so you have to smoke in enclosed areas (cars, etc).

I chose to drive so didn't have to worry about the time being left before dark or the weather. Also if you are from much lower altitude this walk could be more difficult than you would think. Don't underestimate the impact of altitude even if you are in great shape. Downhill on way to town. Uphill on the way back.
