This is a great inn to stay at! The rooms wwere perfect for the price. The location was great. Just on the outskirts of town but an very easy walk by the river to get to the shops. We had an amazing stay. We used the hot tub and fireplace. The towels are super thick and soft!! The only thing we didn't take advantage of was the breakfast. The receptionist was super nice and gave great suggestions on where to go and eat. I WOULD BE A REGULAR if it wasn't so many states away. Book this place you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: The town can be busy but there is a back way to get to the RMNP if you plan ahead.

So quaint and super clean!! Quiet and w/in walking distance of a great breakfast place and downtown Estes Park. You can drive anywhere in no time .... As long as you take the back roads around downtown 😂. Need a peaceful place to stay...this is the place!!

Justine - It sounds like you found your way around! :-) Yes, our location lets you miss the busiest parts of town, while also being able to walk to them simply! And if our basic breakfast isn't enough, being close to the Big Horn restaurant is just perfect. Locals have been going there for decades. Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to review our motel.

This inn was perfect for our visit to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Our room was clean and comfortable with and small balcony that was enjoyable for reading and relaxing. Our room was right on the river and we enjoyed hearing the water each evening. It is a short walk from town and just a few minutes to enter the park. Our desk clerk gave us good dinner recommendations. Breakfast was just right for us as we prepared for our days of hiking. We would definitely stay again.

This place has CHARACTER! And the owners and employees really go out of their way to make visits pleasant. It isn't opulent, it isn't urban sophistication. It's character. The furniture, the decor... we found it cozy and just perfect. The property is well-maintained and CLEAN. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. In fact, I'm pretty sure we'll be making another visit soon. I was surprised at the location-- all the events, shops and restaurants in the downtown area were just a few minutes away.

It's a 10 minute walk to downtown restaurants etc. but we loved this stay. The rooms were spacious and very clean. There was a mini-fridge and a microwave if you are so inclined. The breakfast for us was more of a grab and go but there are some great breakfast options in town if you want something hardy. Dana was so nice and very informative. This place will not show up on some searches and that was a good thing for us because most of the other options were booked. We would absolutely choose the Maxwell Inn for our next stay.

High five for the Maxwell Inn. Accommodation was top notch. Quality bedding and towels. Super clean, great amenities. The lite continental breakfast provided was perfect. Everyone was so friendly from the owners to housekeeping staff. We could not have picked a better place to stay in Estes Park. Harlene and Paul Garnhart

This is a small motel very close to the main shopping/ eating area in Estes Park. The location is great for being quiet, but close to the touristy town and a short drive from Rocky Mountain National Park. The room was clean and nicely furnished but not large for 3 adults. It wasn't a bad stay of 3 nights, but the check in clerk was obviously not happy to be there. She would only give us one brass key for the three of us adults (who had different plans at times) and there was a crazy $75 replacement fee if you did not return the key. The hot tub only accommodates 2 people so you have to book with reception which I wasn't inclined to deal with after our initial chilly welcome. Breakfast was minimal so not worth bothering as there is an excellent breakfast place 5 minutes walk away, but there were milano cookies which were worth picking up on the way to the good breakfast place. This is a tourist town with a LOT of accommodation choices so if I return, I think I would try another place.

ADR - Thank you for taking the time to review our motel. We always ask that folks give us a call or book on our website directly so that they can see pictures of the actual room they're booking or we can help sort differences of the rooms. It's always interesting to us, what's wonderfully comfortable for some is "not large enough" for others. That's why reviewing our pictures can really help. I'm sorry that you thought the reception to be chilly. The fee is reasonable once you consider a lost key means physically re-keying a lock set, having new keys cut, and ordering new key rings. Once we adjusted our policy to giving a single key out, we've had significantly fewer lost keys, and in turn, less instances of actually having to charge for a lock to be replaced. I'm sorry that it set you off or on edge - it's a shame to let such a little ruin a stay. We're always on site, so letting a guest in isn't an issue at all. Breakfast is as-advertised, and the only limit on the hot tub is 4 people or 2 rooms at a time now that we're past c19 restrictions. Thanks for visiting our town!

F3361JX - The Christmas / Lighting Ceremony Parade is just a beautiful time of year to visit. Small town parades are fewer and fewer, so it's good to see Estes continue the tradition! Thank you so much for the kind words and for staying with us. We hope to see you again soon!

The Maxwell Inn was such a great stay! My mom, sister, and I thoroughly enjoyed the two days we spent there and would have loved to stay longer. The room was clean and cozy, and I loved the tall ceilings. We stayed in a deluxe double queen room and it was a great size for the three of us. It is a short, beautiful walk to the downtown area and we saw lots of elk! The view from the 2nd floor room was wonderful and I love that the doors open up right outside (as opposed to a shared hallway). Dana was very accommodating to anything we needed and I will definitely stay here anytime I’m in Estes Park!

Hailey - Thank you for your kind words. If we're being honest - at the end of a long year when we think back on the year we can kind of gravitate to the things that didn't go well, or were frustrating, but when we read a review like yours it reminds us that thousands of people visit our motel every year and the vast majority are pleased and enjoy their time. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your time and hope you all can return!
