We didn't actually stay here because it was closed but we ate at the pizza joint inside the hotel. Amazing food. We learned some great history about the place. Its a fun experience. We definitely want to go back & stay there. They say it's haunted too :-)

The Elkhorn Lodge is by far the worst accommodations that we’ve ever encountered. When we made reservations we had envisioned quaint and rustic rooms/cabins. What we found was shocking. When we drove up to our cabin, we were greeted with an old dilapidated inside wood table with a leg missing and a chair missing an arm on the falling down... More

The experience is exactly as advertised, no frills horseback ride in a fantastic setting in Estes park, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. I've done this tour several times and will do so again, because it's just fun and frankly really cheap. The entrance is very well marked "Horse Back Rides" with an arrow. Deb and her son, Colton, were... More

It was disappointing that no one returned our phone call to make a reservation. One we arrived at the stables (1.5+ hours drive) We were told there was room on the ride, but after finding out we had purchased a Living Social deal they wouldn't honor that purchase. Make sure you actually speak to someone & get a name for... More

We had a great time, I this this is a love it or hate it kind of place, you have to be looking for rustic and off the beaten path kind of place. If that's what you're looking for this place is awesome. It's quaint and gives you the feel that you are way off at an old ranch somewhere.... More

We loved this place. We stayed early in the season being one of two guest. They gave us a tour of this historic hotel. We sat with some of the employees around a roaring fire and visited. They entertained us with stories and the history of the lodge. The views were breath taking. The mountains still were dressed with snow.... More

Yes historic also means old, but it was oh so cool! Built in the early 1800's, I was surprised it was in as good of shape as it was. The cabin was clean and welcoming, but it did lack some modern amenities, like heating or air conditioning, but we did fine with out it. It was a cool mountain night... More

Purchased a Groupon for this. When we pulled into the parking lot we had absolutely no idea where to go. There were no signs or any indication of where the barn was. Everyone at the ranch was very, very friendly. We picked a horrible day to go (40 degrees and rain) but the ride itself was pretty disappointing. I have... More

The cabin we stayed in was okay but it did not have any heat or a/c so if you are staying in winter or summer be warned.

The ad should read " For a mere $125 per cabin, you can experience peeling wall paper, rusted out showers, shower curtains held up with old coat hangers, stained sinks, beds that probably haven't been changed since the old west, and old soda cans left in your old, dirty refrigerator" - this is NOT an exaggeration. Remembering Elkhorn from days... More

The Elkhorn Lodge is the oldest continuous operating lodge in the Rocky Mountain region and is the most historical property in Estes park. Dating to 1874 when Reverend McCreary from Ft. Collins built a small summer cabin on what was to become the Elkhorn property, to today's struggles to save and restore this jewel of the West, the Elkhorn Lodge has been and continues to be a major part of Estes Park. With a fully functioning main lodge, cabins galore, and several spacious buildings for large parties, there's accommodations for any and all at the Elkhorn Lodge and Ranch.
