Not a typical hotel with a reception, you must coordinate check-in before hand to get your keys. The lodge is located next to Twin Owls Steakhouse.
The location is a short +/- 5min drive out of town, surrounded by mountains and is fairly peaceful other than the road that passes pretty close to the front of the property.
There are rooms on two floors. We recommend the top floor.
We had an issue with our first room but were quickly assisted and moved to another room.
The rooms are fairly comfortable however the mattresses are pretty soft and there weren’t enough pillows.
Each room has a nice balcony with good views.
Amenities such as fridge and coffee/tea making facilities are not provided which was a shame.
Breakfast was freshly made each morning and was very good.
We also enjoyed the hot tub.

My husband and I came here for 3 nights after a conference in Denver. We arrived a bit early on a Friday afternoon and Diane checked us in and showed us our room. It was very nice, with a balcony with a table and two chairs that boasted a wonderful view of Estes Park below. The bed was comfortable, but a little soft, with amazing sheets. The fireplace was warm and the thermostat easy to use. It was chilly when we arrived but the heat kicked in when we went to bed the first night and we had to discard the warm comforter. The bathroom had a shower and ample sink area; the shower had good pressure and stayed warm.

We had tried to make online reservations at the Twin Owls restaurant which is attached to the lodge, prior to arriving, but there were no available times. Diane was able to book us a table outside in their covered and heated patio and it was fine after they got the heaters turned on.

While Highway 7 does go past the lodge, it is not very loud at all and does not diminish the peaceful tranquility of the lodge. We found the lodge to be well located for visiting the Beaver Meadow entrance to Rocky Mountains National Park (10 minutes) and for going downtown to Estes Park. We also visited Lily Lake up the way on Highway 7 that was also close to the lodge.

Breakfast was included and was great every morning. Excellent! And they bring you coffee outside your door each morning upon request. Great owners and staff.

Overall, we would definitely return again. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights at the lodge, it was a quiet, pleasant stay. I liked the location of the lodge, which is a short drive (5 minutes) to town, and isolated enough to have some peace and quiet. The balcony views were amazing, breakfast was very good. The ladies at the kitchen worked very hard making us delicious, cook to order breakfast. Highly recommend and we will be back next time.

We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. As others have said, it is not your typical lodge but that’s a part we enjoyed. Check in instructions after hours was specifically given in an email and we had no problem entering the beautiful lodge and into our spacious second floor room. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning and was delicious. Nice open dining area with individual tables. The Overland Stage suite was great, king bed with luxury linens, nice sitting area, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The views over the mountains from our balcony were spectacular, sunrises were amazing. Could see the wildfires off in the distance at night. Enjoyed dinner two nights at the adjoining Twin Owls restaurant, which is excellent. Just a short 7-8 minute drive to Estes Park for other restaurants. Really no big negatives to mention. Very nice visit and would definitely return when in the area.

What a fabulous experience. The staff was more than accommodating, taking care of our every need or want. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and a good size. The complimentary breakfast was unexpectedly fantastic. It was cooked fresh and served with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The owner was present and making sure all the guests were taken care of. They are located 5-10 minutes from downtown. The location is quiet and beautiful.

My husband and I spent a weekend hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and this was the perfect place to stay. It was cozy, comfortable, clean, and had beautiful views. It was very close to one of the park entrances, and also very close to the town of Estes, which made going out for the afternoon or for dinner easy and enjoyable.

The people who work there are amazing. We had several early morning hikes, and they made sure we had breakfast to go, which meant they got up even earlier to prepare it for us. The breakfast was included and it was delicious. I have several dietary restrictions, and they had such a wide variety of options that I could eat what I needed to without having to request anything else. They also allowed us to drop our bags off early and were so gracious and kind in all of their interactions with us. We will definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it.

Breakfast was superb, we didn’t need lunch after filling up with the full breakfast that was delicious, with different choices every day. The view from our first floor room was partially obstructed by growing pine trees. But the view is spectacular. The location is nice, outside the bustling downtown, but close to the city and park entrance. Overall a great experience.

My wedding was August 1st, 2021 at Taharaa Mountain Lodge. I had a great experience with the event manager, Kathy, and owner, Sandra. Great views inside and out! The food was also really good, and the bartender was amazing! Wedding itself: no complaints! I would give them 5/5!

Now, the hotel: the rooms are nice with beautiful views, and the breakfast was good. However, the hotel staff ruined my experience, not only me, but my family and wedding guests. First, I had some family members trying to get a hold of the hotel for a last minute reservation. They called multiple times and left voicemails, but no answer. We got a hold of them about 3 days later, after I contacted Kathy to help us. Second, we were told that we could call a week before for an early check-in. However, the hotel was not accommodating and checked us in only 10 to 15 minutes before our scheduled rehearsal time. This was very inconvenient and frustrating for us. On top of that, the staff member who checked me in took her time explaining things when she knew my rehearsal was starting within minutes.
Then, it came time for the staff to check in the rest of the guests... They did not talk to them kindly and did not make them feel welcomed AT ALL. I understand a place has rules. However, they did not have to announce them the way they did and talk to them like children. My family members and guests continue to talk about how rude the staff was and how they felt uncomfortable staying there. This was embarrassing and such a disappointment for me, as I wanted my guests to enjoy their time after traveling from around the country.
Third, the aisle for the wedding was uphill and covered in gravel, which was concerning since I was walking barefoot and my 80-year-old grandma and dad who recently had hip surgery had to walk down the aisle. The hotel staff gave us a broom, and WE had to sweep it up ourselves! The groom, who was supposed to be getting ready at the time, swept it up, which also ruined the whole “don’t see each other before the ceremony” thing.
Lastly, when they say the wedding ends at 10pm, it ends at 10pm. They started kicking us out right away and made us feel rushed and pressured when cleaning up the decorations. Our guests tried to help us clean up, but the staff kicked them out to the parking lot for them to wait for their rides.
I’ve read about the hotel staff being rude, but it was from years ago...Not sure why it happened to us.

We were welcomed by General Manager Vicky right at check-in time...3pm. Vicky gave us a tour of the common areas in the lodge and then personally showed us our room and how to operate things like the heat and a/c, fireplace, and answered all our questions. Vicky even prepared breakfast for us one morning. We were also impressed that the owner, Thad, was hands on at the lodge and at the Twin Owls restaurant. They are very customer friendly and pay attention to the details. When was the last time you stayed somewhere and they changed the linens, made the bed, vacuumed, removed trash, etc. each and every night of your stay. They are treating you like you used to be treated pre-Covid. Thanks for a great stay. Our accommodations had perfect mountain views and everything was so clean!

We have eaten @ Twin Owls many times in the past and agreed that a stay at Taharra Mountain Lodge would be on our list. We spent Sunday and Monday night at the lodge after enjoying the awesome food at Twin Owls restaurant for Mothers Day including the Dry Rubbed New York strip. The two night stay at the lodge was beyond our exceptions, Each morning prior to breakfast we enjoy the view from our private deck in our room with a warm coffee. The prepared breakfast to our orders each day while enjoying the beautiful view from the Breakfast Dining Room was stunning overlooking Estes Park. We will definitely return for another adventure of fine dining and amazing Junior Suite Spa room. The staff was amazing and catered to our requests.

10 minutes from lodge to downtown Estes Park. Best way to get to park is to go to the visitor center and take the shuttle, another 10-15 minutes

I don't know if there is a map of the layout, but if you click on individual rooms, it will say at the top whether they are on first or second floor.
