I liked this hostel and will stay there again if I go back to Albuquerque. Good customer service (manager let me use his computer since Amtrak lost my luggage for a day to rebook travel reservations), people who worked there were friendly and helpful . I stayed in a small private room-the room was small(I knew before I booked) but...

The whole place is filthy. Maintenance was none existent. Loose taps in the bathrooms. Receptacles that are worn out. The bed I slept on was broken and should have been replaced. The excuse was they have been trying for a year to get a maintenance person. I was told that If I didn't like it to go somewhere else. I...

First of all, this place has an ideal location and is amazingly cheap -- a private room here costs less than a dorm bed at most hostels. With that in mind, I wasn't expecting anything too nice -- and I was right. My rating reflects my low expectations for the price. This place is grungy, poorly maintained and just unappealing....

They claim to be interested in preserving the building however what I saw contradicted that. This was the dirtiest and most unkept hostel I have ever stayed in. This place has no central air and in summer it is boiling in there. If we had been there at a cooler time I would have given a better rating. The heat-...

I actually liked this location because the staff was friendly and helpful. There were nice enough to hold my valuables for me. It gave me the chance to get to know travelers from other states and countries. It was't bad for small location. I only spent one night and I didn't have a problem.

A true backpackers haven, the Route 66 Hostel will not disappoint experienced travelers who value what places like this provide that hotels never will. We always meet interesting world travelers of all ages here. We even suggested this place to friends visiting from Switzerland and they really enjoyed it as well. They stayed here about four years ago then when...

I booked and prepaid for a traditional private room through a popular reservation website. Upon arrival, the clerk insisted that I had only reserved a dorm bunk and demanded that I pay extra for the room I had already booked and paid for. Ultimately prevailed and got my money back, no thanks to the unimaginably rude clerk. Happy to share...

A traveler arriving without a car will have to put more effort getting here. I booked this place for the Albuquerque balloon festival in the first week of October. Getting here from the airport was either a bus or uber. The hostel is in an old Spanish style converted house which if you are a clean freak may have trouble...

This lovely old building has great (unrenovated) character, super porch and I found the staff helpful and friendly. Don't look in the corners, if you want something perfectly presented then go to a cookie-cutter motel instead...and miss out on the fun. Now I got this querky place, private room shared bathroom, towel and free parking for US$32. Complete bargain, an...

My girlfriend and I stayed at Route 66, twice, in September. We found the weekend manager, Jahmar, a most welcoming, interesting, and helpful guy. Both times, we rented a private room, with bathroom. Though a little run-down, the room, the kitchen, and the common room were comfortable. The kitchen featured free coffee, eggs, milk, hot and cold cereal, a gas...
