I booked here because I had never been to New Mexico and thought the adobe "theme" was pretty cool. Turns out not to be a theme, but is actually how they build a lot of stuff out there. This place was sparking white and looked to be just remodeled. The pool was inviting both day and night and they have a gorgeous banquet room. I am leery of motels where I am not inside the building when opening my front door and where cars can pull right up to your window. Cars cannot do that here. All doors open to a common courtyard. Not inside, but still... The doors seemed to be made of heavy steel and access to the courtyard was by key. We felt safe. Parking was never hard fo find for us. We stayed two nights...a Tue. night and Wed. night the following week (different rooms). But you aren't close to the lobby and have to walk around the building onto the street to get to it. Same with your luggage. The rooms were small, but very clean and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are tiny, but I give them a pass for installing glass shower stalls. The absolute BEST thing at the El Vado are the beds. I will be contacting them soon about who makes their mattresses there, then I'm damned sure I will immediately buy one.…
We loved the charm and hospitality of the hotel. We will definitely be back! From check in to check out staff were kind and engaging.we had a few meals there and coffee at the new coffee shop. We also walked to the biopark gardens. Really convenient and I’ll definitely return here. Such a great remodel with a nod to the heritage of the space.
Night manager excellent, place is a bit funky but designed that way, much better than a chain hotel. Clean but small rooms, interior lighting was weak, good location, go to Monicas for breakfast, recommended by the hotel, would stay again, good value
Loved our stay! The motel was nicely redone and the staff was super friendly! Great spot with lots of food options in the area as well as a Botanical Garden across the street. The pool and common seating area was nice as well.
From the moment we arrived at El Vado we loved every detail and interaction. The converted motor lodge retains the cool architectural details of the past but adds so many pretty details. The landscaping is enchanting and so is the pool. We had the pool to ourselves the whole trip (for some reason) and it was so lovely and refreshing. There are small restaurants around the center court area. We had nachos from a Costa Rican spot and they were delicious. Our room was clean, nicely designed, and very comfortable. I want to send a special shout out to Joe Kautz, the general manager. He was so friendly and funny. He made our stay very special. Thanks!
We had an overall good experience. The staff is very helpful, however, the rooms are TINY, and the bathrooms are TINY. It was a bit difficult to manage the weekend with two large suitcases. There was nowhere to lay the suitcases out that wasn't in the way. One thing they really should do is add additional lighting somewhere in the rooms. We had to open the shades in order to see anything. It is a super cute hotel with lots of areas to sit outdoors, but we felt it was a bit expensive for the room we stayed in.
Great Route 66 place to stay in Albuquerque. So close to Old Town and Botanic Gardens. Complete with tap room and food pods-perfect after a 12 hour drive to check in and not have to get back in the car to go to dinner. Room clean and nicely decorated.
We loved this motel! They did a great job with the renovation. Rooms are basic and bathroom small, but very clean. Staff was friendly and super helpful. It was very lively on a Friday night - live music in the adjacent retail area, where there are plenty of restaurants to order from, and a taproom at the hotel as well. The only 2 downsides were shared parking with all of the other retail, and road noise at night on a busy road, but the comfortable bed made up for that! Overall, we would still stay here again!
This motel has been renovated but maintains charm. The rooms are fairly simple but there are amenities like a refrigerator and coffee maker. The entire property was spotlessly clean. Our room was very quiet. We never heard any outside noise. The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful with directions, etc. There is a nice pool and splash pad in the center of the courtyard which is fenced in (locked) and made us feel safer. They had live music in the courtyard on Friday night until 8 and food places that were open until 8. That was nice after a long day of driving. The ONLY negative that I have is that the parking situation is horrible. The motel shares parking with some shops and an apartment building so it's difficult at best! That's why we really enjoyed being able to stay there for dinner and not have to give up our parking spot. There is a cute coffee shop next door with breakfast food so don't have to give up the parking spot in the morning. We would most definitely stay here again. If you don't want dinner there, there is a Mexican restaurant right across the street.…
The whole motel was spotlessly clean and we loved our wonderfully quiet room. Beautiful and sympathetic renovation of such a cool and historic motel. The suite we stayed in was stylish and roomy with a good shower and plenty of space. Enjoyed both the nice free coffee and stunning pool - with lovely flowers and hummingbirds. Great food court with excellent live music. Friendly service from everyone we met. Unbeatable spot on Route 66.
