All considering this park needs a lot and is neglected and over rated. Stayed her for a week based on reviews and is not what we expected. First the park is in the middle of no where and I mean no where. Nothing within biking distance or walking distance, the winds are non stop windy. The grass is still, well there isn’t any nor do they water to grow any, was all weeds which they don’t keep trimmed or cut. Dust and dirt in the trailer everyday. The water is incredibly hard and stains everything. The pool(only 1 pool for the size of this park) get full quick. If you don’t have your seat or chair by 9am bring your own. Oh yah, though they do offer good rates on gold carts, you will need it because it’s a long drive to the pool. There is also a daily resort fee per person for whatever reason they tack onto your bill. The park is way over rated and way over priced considering all the conditions I listed. And the funny part of this, if you go to there website they claim it’s a 9.5 star according to good sams reviews, yet when you go to good sams reviews to look up there park it isn’t listed. Definitely don’t recommend this park nor will we ever return.…
Be careful! They charge you more directly on the credit card than it was confirmed when we did the reservation. We also changed the dates a few weeks before our arrival and they didn’t credit the days we cancelled. I have all the confirmations by email and they don’t want to reimbursed us and it’s more than 200$. There is also a train who pass every night and horn. I don’t recommend this RV resort, because they don’t respect their price!
Tropical Trails has great spots for the RVers but they also have cottages for those who are not campers. What a great idea! Everything you need. They have a great pool and hot tub area, ample parking, laundry facilities, and a long fun list of things to do. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to share their experiences of places to eat and things to see. We met many people from all walks of life.
February 2022 turned out to be record-breaking.....colder and windier than normal! Even then, Tropical Trails offered great sites, a comfortable clubhouse, plenty of activities and, did I mention the happy hours? Very fun! The staff works very hard to accommodate guests, from activities to garbage pickup (daily at your site), propane refills (again, pickup and delivery at your site) and keeping the beautiful pool sparkling. Clean restrooms and great laundries. Thank you!
This park deserves all the stars rating and then more. When we arrived, we were greeted by Jan, the manager. She is a warm friendly woman who sets the tone for the great customer service we received during our stay in the park. She got us registered and gave us an overview of all the activities that happen in the park and in the park. We were then escorted to our site. Every site is large, 12 feet wide by 90 ft long concrete pads along with a large concrete patio. There is at least 50 feet between each site. This campground is only three years old so it is made for large RVs. The roads within the park are large and easy to maneuver our 40’ fifth wheel. Each site has full hookups that are in the middle of the site so easy hook ups. In addition, there is fiber optic internet for each site. The bathhouses and laundry rooms are scattered throughout the park and are clean and modern. This park goes out of their way to organize all kinds of events within the park (live music, food, margaritas, pickle ball tournaments, shuffleboard tournaments, etc...) and out of the park (zoo visits, sea turtle visits, dinners on South Padre, rodeos and etc.) The best of all was meeting and visiting with the friendly people staying there. There are a few trains that travel through, but once you hear the first one you got use to them. They did not bother us. A few times the wind blew pretty hard, but I will take the wind along with the nice temperatures!! You have heard the saying, "You get what you pay for." At Tropical Trails, you get more than you pay for. It is truly a wonderful place, and we plan on returning next winter. The customer service is the best! All staff are helpful and friendly. There is great communication from them in regards to activities, weather events, mail and anything else you would want to know.…
We stayed in site 94. Very nice cement pad with picnic table. The wifi hookup was easy. We bought the recommended router and cord. The staff are very nice. We talked mainly to Mike and Yuan and they helped to to find great places to eat and visit. Highly recommend you visit Space X, Palo Alto Battlefield, Sable Palm Tree sanctuary and Padre Island. The showers, laundry and Pool and spa area are very nice and well maintained.
We have stayed at this resort about 4 times, 3 times in our travel trailer and 1 using their cottage. I highly recommend this place as its very peaceful and it has great amenities! All guests we have encountered have always been very friendly as well as the people working the front office! I will continue using this resort every time we come down from Austin! Prices are also very reasonable, the sites are perfectly sized, and above all, its great having water, sewer, electric and even wifi connections! Overall I give this resort an A++++
Tropical Trails Resort, although new, is an amazing place. Yes as a park in Texas it is going to be windy, but, rather wind than snow! We were here two weeks when we decided to rebook for next year. They have lots of activities to do, as always it is your choice to enjoy the activities, or sit by your site. The owners and staff are truly engaged in all activities. It is great to see. Live bands, shrimp boil, happy hour with fun prizes, Taco Tuesdays, shuttle bus to south Padres Island for drinks, the list goes on! Golf course is only 15min away. Fishing and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico only 25 min away. Did we mention the sites are huge! Full hook ups, and best part, site garbage pickup. Just an added bonus. We are now Winter Texans! We leave in April 2022 after 6mnths of living the dream. Next year we will definitely be back.…
A new park with a beautiful pool & pickle ball courts. No gym, very few organized activities. It is in an open field that has gusty winds every day. I believe the park has great potential & will be great 2 or 3 years from now. Right now it should be advertised as suitable for 75+
Hill and crew took care of us in the worst winter storm in decades. Lost power, propane and water, but we never lost hope. The resort made certain we were comfortable in the worst of conditions. We can not be more thankful for the support they offered us in a time of crisis. The resort is spacious and very well maintained. Pool and hot tub are excellent. Activities are numerous and well organized. Particularly enjoyed the pancakes and Bloody Mary’s!
