Honestly - where to start. If you like 1965 design and decor - this is the place for you. Whilst the setting is lovely - yes right on the beach and the ocean front - there is very little here around the hotel. They have a restaurant - which is only open for breakfast - very dark and gloomy place - with no windows or view of the ocean. The breakfast is relatively limited buffet - serve yourself and with plastic cutlery, polystyrene plates/bowls etc and paper cups for coffee!! Carry your ID with you at all times - the guy in the bar won't allow you to charge your meal to your room without your ID - even if you have your room key and envelope with you! Mitigating points are free parking, very comfortable bed and pillows, large room with a view of the beach (and the sound of the road). Oh ... sound proofing is non-existent - I could hear the conversations from next door while the couple argued with each other all evening - very unpleasant. The staff are friendly enough - but not good at responding to challenges about their service. When I asked to speak to the Manager - he was out driving the shuttle bus somewhere! I am here for a Conference. I don't know which person gave it 5 for the complimentary breakfast - it is charged at $8 plus tax unless you get up really early for the "special price". It's such a pity - it could be amazing. There is an indoor pool - overlooking the outdoor bar and ocean. There is an outdoor bar (not open everyday on off season apparently) and there is a gym - although it is about to be refurbished - but at least they have one . It's just really tired and feels old and unloved.

Stayed at Emerald Beach Hotel for 7 days and was exceptionally happy with the hotel and the complimentary breakfast. The hotel was very clean and the room was nice and big. Great service from the lobby (Victory and John). There wasn’t anything bad about this hotel and all plus. I highly recommend it if you’re staying in the Corpus Christi area.
