We are taking a budget trip, so chose this motel where we could get a queen room for only $50. We were pleasantly surprised. The gentleman at the registration desk was very nice. This is an old property and has a regular key. The room is small, but very clean. There is a microwave and a small refrigerator. The porch light is bright, and the blinds and curtain do not block the light. The air conditioner is a bit noisy, but works very well. The shower has only a dribble of water. We didn't try the pool, due to a lightening storm, which was great to watch. If we visit organ pipe again, we would enjoy staying here.

Ajo is a small town in a remote part of Arizona. There aren't a lot of lodging options but the Marine Motel is a nice choice. A regular room is $50 a night. It's just under 2 miles to the small town center. A large grocery store is across the street and a few eating options are about 1 mile away. This is a nice clean budget motel. No frills but my small room did have a microwave and mini fridge. The tiny freezer part was caked with ice but the fridge kept drinks cold. It is run by a pleasant couple. I went looking for an ice machine. Although there is none, the kind woman in reception offered me ice from the tray in their refrigerator. I thought that was very kind and thoughtful. Several of us were visiting so we had 5 rooms and each was different. The regular rooms are small but adequate. My room had a very small bathroom. The shower and toilet were squeezed in place. The separate dressing area was larger. There was a TV with HBO but I could not get the remote to work to turn on the TV and later turn off the set. I couldn't change channels and ended up with CNN. I probably should have mentioned it to the front desk. The room was very clean. I left the room at 9am and when I returned, at 4pm, it had not been cleaned or refreshed. I am not sure why. My room in particular had a door witha glass window. My friends' rooms didn't have the same type of door. The blinds were broken so it was easy for anyone walking by to see in. For privacy, I hung a towel over the door. It's funny but when we booked our rooms were listed as "mountain view". Well, it wasn't the view I expected but I wasn't staying there for the view. The curtains did not cut out all the light so the room we never completely dark. It did seem like the managers/owners were doing their best to make the motel nice and a few minor improvements would be great (like fixing the blinds). There is a pool and a pleasant cactus garden area. I would recommend the Marine if you are in Ajo, especially if you are on a budget. It is modest and no frills but actually nice for the price. And the managers were so very nice.

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, sheets appeared to be new. It is an older motel that has been remodeled. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 dew to being older motel. The management was very nice to me. They were helpful to finding a place to eat. I would recommend this to anyone who ever comes through Ajo or visit Ajo.

Arrived at 8pm with our hotel confirmation number in hand only to find that they supposedly didn't have our reservation and ended up giving away our room. Ended up having to travel 45 min North to Gila Bend, which resulted in us losing a full day of play at Organ Pipe National Monument, and a full day of our short spring break trip

At the last minute I decided to rent a room at Marine Motel. A big plus was the early check in time of noon rather than 3PM. However, I didn't bother staying the night. I tried turning on the tv as soon as I got in and nothing happened. The remote clearly was working as it lights up, but could not get any power to the tv. Everything was plugged in. Then I tried the WiFi which I really needed to get work done. It kept telling me I was connected to the network, but there was no internet access. This was both on my laptop and phone (which both worked fine at the last motel with no problems) so it wasn't an issue on my end. Since I got done with everything I needed in town much earlier than expected, I just checked out and went home since it was only a two hour drive. I basically paid $50 to use the toilet. The room was clean despite being very worn out. My room was at the very end so the "mountain view" was only of the pile of tailings from the mine. Not horrible, but don't tell me there's tv and free wifi when clearly they don't work. I can do without tv, but I actually would have spent the night had there been wifi as promised.
