Two of the staff members were horribly rude and overbearing. Humiliated me in front of my guests, treated me like a prisoner and generally ruined my stay, the staff members being Cliff and Sherman. Both were negative constantly and talking down on guests almost always. Jim and Mike on the other hand were a brath of fresh air and this...

The two incompetent workers who checked me in took an hour to do so even though I was the only one checking in. System problems and incompetency issues. Once checked in I was shown my room and bed. I told them I was going to leave and come back in an hour. They said that was fine although their office...

We booked this hostel very last minute, which isn't unusual for us. The owner likes everything paid in cash which is fine by us. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was a private room as we had felt we needed a few private nights to ourselves. The room had a double bed and a single above...

I stayed here when I first got to SLC, and again a week later, for another week. When you first enter, it looks cool, great neighborhood, old building, huge community area with couches and TV, great community kitchen where people are always cooking and sharing. Cliff, one of the front desk guys, is a pretty nice guy, with a pleasant...

Staff was rude when checking in and out. Rooms are disgusting. There is a lot of noise. "Private bathroom" is just a toilet placed next to the fridge and microwave. It's very unhealthy. Wouldn't want to prepare my meal there. If you are traveling with a friend, don't book a room with a private bathroom unless you want to go...

Staying here as I write this review. A nice experience; everybody on staff is friendly and personable, eager to be of assistance. Don't be in a hurry when you check-in. Hum-drum but functional building in a quiet shady-lawn neighborhood. A friendly and clean place. Went with a private room for 4 persons- It is a hostel, not La Quinta; however...

We walked into the avenues hostel with reservation number, and the front desk just insulted us to hold fake id and pretend to be american,we offered him our american driver license and he still contined to do so. He libeled and insulted us by really bad attitude and languages, and yelled at us. We walked away from the place and he hold...

This has truly been a very strange experience. The hostel seems to be run by staff older with social and mental health challenges. I say this not at all in an ironic or an amusing way. I mean to say that some of the people who are in charge don't have the capacity to greet or interact with guests in...

DISHONEST STAFF! DONT STAY THERE!!! This hostel is extremely dishonest. They charge you money randomly on the card!! It took them 30 mins to check-in for me the first day when I arrived. I booked this horrible place 4 nights via booking.com for $189 but they charged me $198 on my card. I asked the hostel why they charged me...

Very few hostels balance themselves out with positives and negatives quite like this one does. Starting with the positives, it is affordable and in a quiet and lovely neighbourhood that is only a 15 minute walk to downtown and only 3 blocks away from the nearest supermarket. It also has a really spacious communal kitchen and lounge area with a...
