The staff here is amazing, Friendly, helpful, and very responsive to any needs. I had to make a change mid trip. Kaden and Jacqueline helped me with that at 0 dark 30. They were super accommodating. The only reason I didn’t rate my stay as five stars is because they happen to be doing some renovation on my floor. Other than that, it really was a 5 star stay.
Had a wonderful experience at the Marriott City Creek. Will at the front desk was fabulous! He went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. Asked what we were celebrating and sent a chocolate treat to our room. He followed up with a call to make sure we had everything we needed.
A very good venue if you are attending an exhibition at the Salt Palace (straight across the street). Hotel was a little tired, rooms (aside from state of the art TVs) and in need of a 21st century make over, but friendly staff across the building made up for that. (Although overeager Housekeeping staff knocking for room cleaning at 08.30am may be a little too early for those who like a little lie in! Bar service is very good and staff there very welcoming and keen to offer tips of the area. Breakfast in the restaurant is a little stale in terms of food options but also decor. Would recommend due to proximity but the new Hyatt Regency across the road may spur Marriott into rejuvenating some of the rooms.
Although the staff were friendly, this is the most poorly managed “hotel” I have stayed at. There are roadside motels in 3rd world countries that have better amenities, are cleaner and safer, and not designed to deliberately inconvenience the guest. In their infinite wisdom, all the shower curtains have been replaced by a small 2’ wide partition of glass and the shower heads with dribbling overhead apparatus that sticks out 2.5’ prevents a guest (adult or child) from showering without soaking the floor. This ongoing problem is causing mold to grow around the bathroom doors and walls and resulting in moisture damage to the ceiling in every room I saw. The number of water stains on the ceiling tiles made it look like someone had urinated on everything they could. The thermostats in the rooms do NOTHING. Regardless of the setting and reading displayed you will wake up at 5 AM sweating and the room is 80f. The thermostat still shows it is set to 65f and the heat is off, God help you if it does this in the summer. If you are looking for a comfy bed, keep shopping, the mattresses are not the typical Marriott quality and had the most industrial feeling sheets I have experienced that aren’t actually made out of paper. There’s no point in getting the breakfast. It’s $20/person and barely edible. The staff is wonderful but food from the restaurant is of the lowest quality and is less enjoyable than a gas station hotdog. The meeting rooms were unavailable due to mismanagement and there was no common area for guests to congregate that did not result in some sort of challenge. Personal food and drinks are not allowed in common areas without receiving a complaint and there are no microwaves or other means to eat in your room. This caused people to hangout in the halls instead of a common area and to disturb other guests. The hotel bar has the tiniest glassware I have ever seen that weren’t single use plastic shot glasses. Seriously, babies have toy teacups that are larger. The drinks are over priced and not worth the effort of ordering. With the number of hotels available in the downtown area, including another Marriott, there is no reason to punish yourself by picking this location. I’m not sure if they bought some terrible hotel and put up a new sign but it is NOT A GOOD MARRIOTT. It is a looong way from being worth the price tag. You would be better served to stay in your rental car overnight and pay the local homeless to watch your stuff at half the price. You’ll sleep better, and they’ll benefit from your visit in a way that this pseudo-Marriott doesn’t deserve. If this Marriott is a franchisee owned property Marriott needs to revoke their franchise license and get their name off this monstrosity. If this is what a corporate Marriott is going to be like in the future then it heralds a decline of quality and effort which never bodes well for the hospitality industry. You can’t charge high prices and deliver garbage for long. *Im not sure where to add this because it’s not necessarily Marriott’s fault but it’s probably related to the other issues, the Valet/Employee (marriott badge visible) that was loudly masturb*ting in the 2nd floor public bathroom was traumatizing and made me uncomfortable to allow my kids to use the bathroom by themselves.…
Great hotel. Chris the valet attendant was super friendly and was kind enough to let us park in a spot a large vehicle could easily fit. He was super, friendly, and more than helpful. Kaden at the front desk also stood out as an exceptional representative of the hotel. Both of these employees went out of their way to make our stay easy, simple, and comfortable. The facility was also exceptional! Had the best shower I have felt in a long time!
In town on business and hotel room heat wasn’t working. Stopped by front desk and supervisor Kaden immediately both called and texted the in house repair person. Technician responded before I could even get back to my room and quickly repaired. Excellent customer service from both gentlemen!
First the positives, lobby was great, and you can't beat the location with its own elevator up to city creek and next door to Nordstroms. And the staff was great The negatives are the on property restaurant is mediocre at best, but expensive for what you get, the rooms are really dark and outdated, they still have a 90s Tuscan yellow thing going on and it's not bright or modern or welcoming. And the bathrooms are super small with a weird half-glass partition that doesn't really keep the shower spray in the shower. Super odd. Desperately needs a refresh. For the same money, you can get the new Hyatt regency, the renovated little america tower rooms, or even the Grand America for a bit more (and they're both on the trax line, so not far). I think 3 stars is fair. Great location, but the rooms are super outdated and I've stayed at much nicer Springhill suites or Residence Inns. …
Room is spacious and well cleaned, the gym is deffo a winner in this hotel. Very nice. Food is oke, restaurant opening times are a bit tight tho, especially for travellers who come from 9 hrs of time zone difference (sorry, hungry at weird (local) times).
Tom at reception was so friendly and thorough at check in. He had read my notes and did indeed give me a quiet room on a high floor with a view. I really appreciate that kind of service at a hotel. But note: No one answers if you try to call down to the front desk on the room phone. The beds and pillows are great. The halls are quiet at night. And the view was so enjoyable because of the huge window that took up almost the entire front wall of the room. I loved it, especially at night. The room temp was regulated by an old thermostat on the wall which I like because I can turn the noisy fan off. The frig was clean and quiet. Once you figure out how to use the shower controls, it's a great shower. No tub though. That's a shame. The down side was not being able to request a kettle to heat up water. There was a pretty beat up coffee maker with horrible packets of "coffee" that wasn't drinkable. You get two paper cups to last you 3 days because there is no daily housekeeping service anymore. I paid $6 for an espresso beverage at Starbucks in the lobby once. But the comfy beds, the nice Salt Stone restaurant and the high floor room view made my stay very pleasant. I would go back.…
The front desk crew were super helpful and professional, they made our stay one to be remembered .. Thank you Thank you for all the help, we were a big group and they made everything go smooth. We will be back
