I stayed at the Grand American hotel due to a Conference. Actually the Conference was held there too. Very nice and elegant suites. Incredible view to the mountains. Very kind workers at the hotel. It was the perfect venue for the conference too. Big auditoriums and saloons. Nice options of restaurants and bars. You can go by walking to he mall center, Temple Square and other touristic places at Salt Lake City. I definitively recommend this hotel and I hope to stay there again soon.

I had a good stay here I didn't really know what to expect but it was nice. The rooms are getting a little dated and there is no complimentary water in the rooms but other than that I think it was a good option for SLC.

It's a nice hotel but I do chuckle at the comparisons made to some of the top hotels in the country. Again, it is nice but just not at that level in my opinion. Service was over the top courteous from valet to bellman to front desk as well as all other staff we interacted with. Our room was huge and the bathroom layout is spectacular with separated sinks, toilet room, large tub and shower. In terms of cleanliness, we felt the beds and room in general to be very clean. However, the area where the baseboard meets carpet needs some attention as you can tell it is repeatedly missed. Also there is just grunge in the bathroom where the floor tile mouldings meet the wallpaper. And the wallpaper....If you are going to have wallpaper, you need to maintain it! There are several spots in the toilet room where the wallpaper has separated from the wall. Not a great look. Did find a hair on the floor near the sink but quickly got it with a tissue before anyone else saw. Beds were adequate and pillows very luxurious. Pool areas were really nice and the lobby is very pretty. Hotel hallways and common areas appear to be very well mainained. Be forewarned, a block or two to the west and the surroundings get pretty dicey. We were dismayed by the drive from freeway to hotel. Not an area to explore by foot.

This is a beautiful property that is done in a French provincial theme. Chandeliers everywhere, opulent chairs in the lobby, marble floors, beautiful decor and artwork throughout. Several dining options that were all excellent. Daily afternoon high tea is offered from 12-3:30 pm (wish it was a little later like 5 pm) and a lobby restaurant offers an extensive vegan menu as well as meat options. Clean indoor and outdoor pools with plush towels aplenty. Staff very friendly and courteous without exception. The only negative points would be that the fridge in our room did not seem to be cold enough, and the A/C also did not get the room as cool as we would have liked. It also would have been nice to have a microwave. But the positives far outweighed these minor inconveniences.

What a hotel. In the tradition of other grand American hotels like the Beverly Wilshire, The Drake and Waldorf Astoria but built with modern construction techniques and room sizes. The rooms were so quiet, very beautifully decorated, top of the line furnishings everywhere. The bathrooms are very nice with two separate sinks and separate tub and shower locations. The outdoor pool is beautiful. The only thing this location needs is maybe an in house restaurant that features fine dining in the evening. Other than that addition I wouldn't change a thing.

Everything was great apart from an unauthorized charge of 134 dollars after I checked out and closed out the balance. Ive called the hotel twice and sent emails to reception@grandamerica.com and legal@grandamerica.com to no avail. The hotel said it is a charge for a no show for an airport transfer, even though I told them to check the hotel cameras to see that the concierge sent me to an SUV, which took me to the airport. I paid for the cab in cash and have a receipt.

The Sinclair company needs to unzip its pockets and unselfishly reinvest in this failing property. We're paying you plenty at the pump, folks...you can afford it. The arrival process was maddening. Understaffed (let me guess...COVID re-hiring challenges? Yawn). After waiting for the valet for five minutes, we parked our own car, only to find out that the in-house reservations team had spelled my name wrong. Rather than fixing it based on my state-issued ID presented at check-in, I continued to receive texts throughout my stay addressed to someone other than myself. The property has over 700 rooms, which were undoubtedly not sold out. The rooms here are tired. There were three visible stains on the chair closest to our balcony. There is also a very large carpet stain on the border of the bedroom and the living room doors that look like the after scene of a homicide. This is Super 8 quality for a 5-star price. Even better, the TV stand is broken so that it leans and the gold handle in the shower falls off when you turn on the water! Finally, the AC works decent in the bedroom but not great in the living room. After calling maintenance twice, and the front desk asking to be moved, we begrudgingly spent one night in 1165. G.H.E.T.T.O. Save your money and go elsewhere. If you must, at least book a third party for a better rate. I booked direct, thinking I would get that 'five-star service', but the concierge couldn't even get me a table at Laurel. I expect some form of an android response to this posting, likely addressed to a name other than mine. The 'Grand' had its run. Hopefully, we see this property under new management soon.

If you love a traditional hotel with great service (and don't mind paying extra for it) this hotel is ideal: opulent rooms, multiple good restaurants, nice fitness facility & spa, and a great location.

We stayed for four nights at this hotel. We had booked a two queen room. The check-in was good and I liked the information provided about places to eat etc. The room was a little lacking. Whilst it was dated appearance because it was an old hotel it was also a little worn, especially the carpet. The bathroom was big and had the grand feel. Although the beds were comfortable overall the mattresses did have dips as though they hadn't been flipped and this did cause issue for my husband. The hotel is in a great position for walking around. I would say the parking is expensive and just by the little america hotel there is an outside carpark which charges $10 a day, which we used instead.
