Over the course of a couple decades, Maggie and I have had the opportunity to enjoy a number of B&Bs. We have recently come to the conclusion that if B&Bs are your thing, you must visit the beautiful Colette’s in Port Angeles, WA. The joy starts as you enter Colette’s gated gardens. The sign jokes, “Keep the gate closed no matter what the deer says.” I could see why deer would love to enter because Colette’s is an Eden of giant trees, manicured flowers, mowed lawn and mesmerizing cliff top views of the San Juan Islands, across the Straits of Juan DeFuca. Occasionally, when we watched the glorious sunset, a resident eagle would float over us seeking food for the cranky fledgeling(s)! It truly is a paradise. Our room for the week was the beautiful Spruce. Big windows framed the ocean view. King-sized bed, hardwood floors, gas-log fireplace, binoculars, shower, Jacuzzi tub, sound system, and excellent coffees and teas were some of the appointments we appreciated. It was all very comfortable and pleasing. And the food! Manager Laurette is the manager and chef at Colette’s, and she is a food artist. Breakfasts were varied and we had a hearty choice every day of sweet or savory. Nobody left hungry. Maggie’s gluten and dairy needs were met. And evening happy hour brought wine and tasty hors d'oeuvres! Summed, the best B&B we have ever been to. Magnificent, grounds, food and especially the staff. We will certainly return.…
Staying at Colette's truly feels like you are getting away from it all! The grounds feature gorgeous gardens and incredible views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We stayed in the Iris Suite - which had its own lovely porch facing the main view. Although this suite is just off the main great room/dining room, it is still very quiet and has all of the luxurious amenities you could ask for. Breakfasts are an event not to be missed. The Innkeeper and Owner were both wonderful chefs and hosts. We cannot wait to stay there again!
My wife and I stayed at Colette's this past week and it was an excellent experience. The room was very clean and comfortable. Cristy the owner was welcoming and the extremely accommodating to our needs. The breakfasts were terrific and the chef adjusted the menu for us due to some food restrictions. Finally, the grounds were amazing. Every morning and evening we walked the back yard facing the water and just sat and stared for a few minutes appreciating the view. We don't typically stay in B&Bs, however, the two we visited on our trip to Olympic National Park were great. I definitely go back in the future.
Overall AMAZING stay!! Very difficult to find words to describe this piece of paradise. Extremely clean and comfortable rooms, spectacular gardens and common areas. However, our favorite part was meeting and getting g to know Laurette the inn keeper and professional chef. She is extraordinary!! From her extreme hospitality and attention to detail to her over the top delicious breakfasts, Laurette doesn’t miss a beat! Everything from her kitchen is delicious and artistically presented! Her afternoon appetizers and always available baked goods were always spot on!! There were fresh flowers throughout from the gardens that Laurette beautifully arranged! Truly appreciated her genuineness and attention to every detail!! Would love to return and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience a truly relaxing get away!!…
This place is amazing. It is situated on magnificent grounds with unbelievable gardens. The rooms are plush and cozy overlooking the sound. Our room had a fireplace that is double sided so is in the bed area and bathroom. Laurettte, the innkeeper, is also aprofessional chef. Her afternoon appetizers and scrumptious breakfasts are superb. This is a real gem
For once you can believe all of the excellent reviews. Beautiful, high-quality rooms, gardens, views and artistic, gourmet breakfast. Decent wine and artsy-fartsy munchies for happy hour. They even did a load of laundry when we asked about a laundromat. Innkeeper couldn’t be more helpful/gracious. 4 nights in the Spruce Suite. Good bang for the buck. Would definitely return.
My wife and I stayed for our anniversary. Simply perfect! The rooms are wonderfully appointed. There is a spectacular view of the ocean from each room. The breakfast is devine. The care giver is available and helpful. This has been an amazing stay and we will return.
My husband and I recently traveled from NH to WA to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary exploring the Olympic peninsula. Our trip began with what was supposed to be a three-night stay at Colette’s Bed & Breakfast in Port Angeles. We loved it so much it evolved, first, into a five-night stay and, ultimately, into a seven-night stay. Because of our unexpected change in plans we ended up staying in three different rooms; Cedar, Iris and Spruce. It’s hard to pick a favorite. All were beautifully appointed with wonderfully comfortable beds, cozy leather loveseats, gas fireplaces, jacuzzis and our own little outdoor space. All boasted amazing views of Colette’s expansive lawn, beautiful gardens and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Cedar and Spruce were a bit larger, had views from the jacuzzi and offered a bit more privacy but Iris had great views from our own little private deck. Cedar and Spruce both have lovely intimate patios tucked in among the garden which were nice but had limited views of the water. Don’t let this discourage you from choosing either of these beautiful rooms as there are a number of seating areas spread out across Colette’s lawn including a small grouping of chairs surrounding a Fire pit right outside the great room (for those who enjoy getting to know the other guests). Our favorite was a single pair of Adirondack chairs centered along the back fence. We spent a number of late afternoons sitting here, enjoying our cocktails while watching ships go by and eagles fly overhead. So relaxing! While the views and accommodations are reason enough to visit Colette’s, the breakfasts and afternoon “snacks” are equally as wonderful. Every breakfast - whether it was waffles, frittatas, pancakes or smoked salmon benedict - began with either delicious homemade scones, fresh fruit or a breakfast parfait of some sort. Everything was amazing! And, each afternoon, guests were treated to small plates of tasty treats like stuffed grape leaves and hummus or baked feta with tomatoes and olives along with a nice selection of wine. It was a wonderful way to end a day of sight-seeing. Finally, I have to mention the service and hospitality we experienced at Colette’s. Laurette and the other members of Colette’s wonderful staff could not have been any more gracious, helpful or pleasant! Whether they were boxing up an early-morning travel breakfast for us or welcoming us back late at night for our third unexpected return they always made us feel right at home and very happy to be there. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer home-away-from-home. If you’re planning on visiting the Peninsula this is the place to stay!…
Our little family (husband and wife and adult nephew) spent 2 nights here in early August. We stayed in the Iris Suite (husband & wife) and Lavender Suite (nephew). Everything about this experience was top-notch, from the welcoming grand living room with view across the water to Canada, the spacious rooms with sitting areas (also with views), the ample yard with adirondack chairs strategically placed to take advantage of the well-tended gardens and the views. We explored the Peninsula during the day, but frankly, would like to return and just stay in the room. Beds and linens very comfortable. If you are a "bath" person, you are in luck because the tubs are enormous. Breakfasts are wonderful too, but let them know in advance if you are a light eater and/or have special dietary needs. We hope to be back!…
We stayed at Colettes's this past spring. It has a beautiful setting, and the room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Cristy and Kelly are wonderful hosts and serve up sumptuous breakfasts. There is a happy hour, where they bring wine and a snack to your room (during Covid) and to the beautiful great room when we are not socially distanced. We have stayed in many bed and breakfast places and this one ranks right at the top.
