Detailed Reviews
The stay was incredible, the house design and everything overall is well made. I was grateful for the owners time to share more about their cottages, all animals and land that he owns. Overall it is most clean place that we stayed at, and we rent vacation houses pretty often. The cottage has very heavy smell though. Also, because of the heavy water, there were a lot of stains and dirty marks on dishes, so I would recommend to invest in better dish soap (Norwex). I am glad we brought a full pack of drinkable water, the water there has some smell and taste, but I understand. The bathtub had some dead skin/ hard water left on the tub walls. I was upset that they do not let candles to be light up, I wish this information was written somewhere so that we could at least bring battery wired candles.
For some weird reason I could not find their original website, and when I was booking through booking.com I realized it charges much more than if I would book on their website. Which was upsetting.
I would think the prices should be reconsidered during fall/winter time since you do not enjoy the beauty of nature as much as spring/ summer time. Because it is a huge difference. It looks much different than you see on the pictures.
Overall for that price we would recommend to stay at leavenworth Post office hotel or other places that would make more sense for $450 a night.

This guest states we are the cleanest & most incredible place they have ever stayed. Then make it sound like it is not clean. They state there was a heavy smell in the cottage? I wish this guest would have told us this immediately upon arrival because sometimes the previous guest cooks with spices etc. in that case we have a air purifier and any smell we miss would have been eliminated in 10 minutes to their satisfaction. They just should have called. My husband and I have been in this business 22 years and have never once heard anything about the water leaving dead skin on the tub or stains on the dishes. The water is very pure from our well and our grown children come from town to obtain drinking water to take home because it tastes so good! No need for bottled water here! We have 20 plus acres, live onsite, and are available at all times to our guests. Every guest is given information at check-in stating we are available. If this guest had simply communicated with us any of their concerns, we would have taken care of them immediately. For example even their disappointment in not using candles could have been remedied with a simple phone call, we would have brought them some battery candles that we have here at our house. Because we are available to our guests at all times we are not vacation rentals. As for the guest not being able to find our website? Hmm! We come up on the web readily with any lodging search term. This guest sounds very disgruntled by the fact our price is so much more on third party sites. Well I am sorry they did not realize this fact, but any lodgings that are on third party sites are more due to the fact the third party takes a huge commission on top of our price. The photos are exactly what you see, is what you get. Numerous guests have been more than thrilled with their stay and can't wait to come back! This guest booked just before our fall rates kicked in. Our prices are lower starting October or November depending on how busy we are. Of course the flowers are not going to look the same as in summer but we assume guests would be aware of that. I think mostly this guest was upset they booked on booking.com and were looking for reasons to be upset that did not exist. This guest even states they visited with my husband, and yet they did not mention any of their concerns? I feel this review is very unfair and all this guests concerns could have been resolved if they simply had gave us a call or came down to our house and told us! They should have communicated with us! They state their stay was incredible! Then make us sound like a horrible place and guests should go some where else??? Like I stated this is a very unfair review!

This was our first stay at Hidden Haven, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, seclusion, and serenity of our cottage. Having a fully equipped kitchen meant we could prepare all our meals on site without going into Port Angeles to eat if we wanted. One of the main reasons I chose Hidden Haven for our 40th anniversary get-away was that my wife is scent-sensitive to cleaning chemicals and the cottages are sanitized with an ozone machine. We really appreciated that there were no chemical odors in the cottage, bedding and other linens. We were both refreshed from our stay and look forward to coming again sometime in the future!

Hidden Haven cottages are exquisite! So clean, spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated . There’s plenty of space and light, the kitchen has more than everything you need to cook, bake and make coffee. The bathroom includes a shower and separate bathtub big enough for two. We turned up in a 26 foot van and there was plenty of space to park Ed it right next to the cottage. The outdoor patio is idyllic with its comfortable chairs, parasol, grill and foxgloves, hummingbird feeder and only the forest beyond. Love the privacy, quiet and serene forest beauty yet knowing there’s friendly help just around the corner if we need it. Highly recommend!

Let me state about the fact. The two nights were good. Then the third one I switched to Morning Dove cottage.
The host was rude. On my third night (extension from my two-night stay), I experienced three issues in the house:
1. The bedroom at night was full of small flying bugs. The wall had about 50-100 bugs. It took me a while to clean them up.
2. The hot water was gone half way when I was taking a bath. I wasn’t able to take a shower.
3. Mid night (3am), there was a loud water dripping noise for about an hour.
The next morning I called the host about the issue. I asked whether the host can give me some refund for the issues. The host rudely said no. I said if anything else she can help me to have a better experience. She said no. Adding that she doesn’t think I’m lying (hinting I’m lying). Adding that her room never had an issue. Also adding that if I wasn’t able to afford this, I should find a cheaper place. It makes me feel that I’m the troublemaker.
To the host:
Excuse me. I work for hospitality customer experience industry for years. This is the last thing you should ever do to a customer. The fact your room never had issue is not future proof. You said I could have called you last night. But it was 1am and I just wanted to sleep. You attitude makes me think you don’t know how to handle customer experience. You could have offered me a future stay discount. You didn’t and went the other direction to confront your customer.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. If things go well, it goes well. As a guest, if things do not go well at this place, you will feel really offended.

Response from Joanne: I'm sorry Carl chose to perceive me as rude. I was far from rude. My husband and I have booked our cottages for 21 years now and never once encountered anything like our experience with Carl. He stayed two nights in our Forest Romance Cottage with no complaints. Then at check out time on his second day he called and requested a third night, and wouldn't take no for an answer about getting a discount. So I DID give him a discount on his 3rd night stay. Then he said he wanted a different cottage. So I offered him his choice of 2 of our un -booked cottages at that discounted rate. He chose one, and said he would be out of current cottage in 15 to 20 minutes, which was all after check out time. We politely complied. Then an hour later after giving Carl the key to the cottage he chose, he contacted us again, and said he changed his mind again, and wanted yet another different cottage. Once again we politely complied. Now we are way past check out and Carl is finally moving to the cottage of his second choice. He left some things in his previous cottage which we kindly took to him. Now as for the so called problems. 1. We have never in 21 years had any of the problems Carl described at check out on the 3rd day of his stay. 1. My husband was outside Carl's cottage the night before and said Carl had the doors open after dark. Of course you can't do that or bugs attract to light and all come in. We assume since Carl said tiny flying bugs it was Knats. We have zero control over Carl leaving the doors open and letting bugs in after dark. Cottage windows are all screened. 2. Next complaint: We have not had one guest complain about lack of hot water and we have had many guests. Not to say a hot water tank didn't go out, it might have. But if it did, until Carl's complaint we had no way to know if it was a problem.. Carl did say there was plenty of hot water for a shower the next morning. Hmmm! Next complaint: 3. As for the dripping noise described, we have run numerous guests thru that cottage and never heard of this before. Once again I politely assured Carl we would look into it, and all of his complaints. Carl then proceeded to ask for a refund. I politely told him no and explained why. Once again as the previous time and him wanting a discount, he would not take no for an answer. He became VERY insistant about a refund and started arguing with me about getting a refund. I assured Carl we knew he wasn't lying and would take care of the issues but I could not offer a refund for the issues he experienced, that no other guest had ever had, nor had we even had a chance to check out. When Carl refused to take no for an answer on the refund, I may have sounded VERY frustrated but not rude. Carl also proceeded to tell me my cottage price was rather high. So I simply told him he could choose anytime to stay some where that cost less, and also offered less if he wanted. Carl even called and left a rather lengthy message on my phone after leaving our property and cottage repeating things he said in his review on the phone previously, and more insults about my customer service. By the way Carl even threatened if I didn't give him a refund he would write me a bad review. He told me it was his right. I told him yes it is your right go ahead and do it. In his final message he left on my phone he once again is asking for a reduced rate on a future stay. Wow! If anyone wants to question anything Carl stated please see all our other reviews! Sorry this is such a long reply but I felt I needed to address everything Carl accused us of. Good luck Carl! Hope you have a better experience some where else! I really do! P.S. After checking on all of Carl's complaints and finding no problems what so ever, we also asked the following guests if they experienced any of the things Carl mentioned and they said no! They had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed it. Said it couldn't have been better.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at the Whimsical Bear cottage!
The cabin is situated so that you feel a delightful sense of isolation and quiet. We rarely saw any guests from any of the other cottages.
The stay was peaceful in the woodland setting.
The skylights built into the cottage provided beautiful natural light.
The coffee and snacks that were provided were a bonus and were much appreciated.
Not mentioned in their ad was the fact that they also included a washer and dryer in the cottage, which came in very handy as we had decided to fly with only carry-on luggage.
This gave us a fantastic base from which we could explore Olympic national Park and the surrounding areas.
We explored the Hoh rainforest, Hurricane Ridge, the lavender farms, a whale watching excursion, hiking to local waterfalls, Crescent Lake, and even a drive to the northwest-most point in the continental USA.
Thanks for a fantastic stay!

I made reservations because the cottages are advertised on the website as "luxury", the price was $455 a night, and reviews were strong. I was very disappointed. The cottage was clean but very overpriced for what is offered. The bed was very creaky, appliances are basic, finishings were average. What was most disconcerting is I reached out to the owners twice to express my concerns and my emails were ignored. I have never written a negative review, but I am wishing someone had provided me with this information. I have no other choice but to spread the word through social media.

I am sorry that we did not receive this guests emails, and I do not understand how that happened. We are not only available by email, we live onsite, and as made clear in our check- in instructions we are also available by telephone to accommodate any guests needs at all times. Our prices are clear as well as many photo's and descriptions so as to ensure a guest sees what they will experience during their stay with us. If this guest had called during their stay, and not relied solely on email which obviously failed them some how, we could have offered them another cottage in the event the bed was creaky. We would never ignore a guest email at any time ever and regret we did not receive their emails. As seen and stated by this guest all of our other reviews are 5 star.

My family of four stayed in the Sweetheart Cottage for two nights and our stay was wonderful in every way! The cottage was squeaky clean, well appointed, and nestled in a beautiful forest. The side porch was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine after the kids went to bed and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed to prepare a few meals. My children agreed that feeding the reindeer on the property (with bread provided by the friendly and personable owners) was the highlight of their stay! Additionally, our cottage was centrally located - with quick and easy drives to the Hoh Rainforest, Lake Crescent and Hurricane Ridge. Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stayed in the Woodland Retreat Cottage. A truly magical and unique experience. Beautiful fish in the pond, the deer were fun to watch. Tons of opportunities to take cool pictures of fauna and flora (saw a bunny and a grouse from the patio). Met owner and he was very cordial, provided my wife some bread to feed the deer. Complimentary snacks and drinks were a nice touch. Bedding was of highest quality, towels very plush. Gas fireplace was lovely. Overall very clean with the exception of the kitchen that lacked attention to detail. Internet was ok with some buffering during streaming, but no issues when working on e-mail or surfing the net.

We stayed in Woodland Retreat. The whole place is so peaceful, about 15 minutes from Port Angeles. Very private. We loved walking around the property and meeting the owner, who gave us a whole tour letting us eat berries and cherries from his trees and bushes. He let us feed the trout and the spotted reindeer. He’s full of really interesting stories! Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat away from the city or smells and busyness of Port Angeles. The cottage came with all the amenities and we were even able to use the washer and dryer.

I wasn't sure what to expect of our cabin at a Hidden Haven and was pleasantly surprised at how charming it was. It rained for most of the time we were there but the hummingbird feeder on our porch took care of any boredom that could have occurred. We saw both the Rufous and Anna's hummingbirds and got great photos of the male rufous showing off the different colors in his neck. I would recommend this as a clean and very nice place to stay.
