I'm leaving this review because I rely on them heavily when choosing lodging and the reviews here make it sound like it's amazing. It's not.
The check in was easy and friendly. Parking is close to rooms.
I was told they sanitized (due to covid). If they did, you couldn't tell. The room had a rather unpleasant smell (not clean smelling). The edges of both doors (bathroom and outside) were filthy! They definitely haven't been cleaned in awhile. The carpet is old and pretty nasty (maybe where the smell comes from?). Clock doesn't work.
The bed was comfortable and seemed to be clean and had many comfortable pillows. Bathroom seemed to be clean.
It's not an awful place but if you stay here I'd suggest bringing disinfecting wipes to clean the surfaces you will touch. I didn't trust that they did it.

There are a number of motels from the 50s and 60s in this city, some of them well maintained, others not so much. The Royal Victorian is solidly in the former category. The furnishings and fixtures in my second floor room were all new and in good condition. The bed was a cut above the standard issue - it was as comfortable as my own mattress at home. The bathroom resembled one you'd find in a modern business class hotel. Although located on eastbound US 101, traffic was sparse after dark and I spent a quiet night.
If you're looking for a comfortable room in Port Angeles but unwilling to spend $100+ on one of the chains, you cannot beat the Royal Victorian.

This is an old motel with unattractive architecture, but everything is fresh and new. It’s in a normal downtown area of a small town with older stores and businesses but not rundown by any stretch. Our room (2 BR suite, rm 101) was very clean, newly painted, well furnished, with new bathroom fixtures. The separate bedroom was very convenient with 3 of us traveling together. Others have commented about noise but once we closed the windows it wasn’t a problem. And while they don’t serve breakfast, there are plenty of places in town to eat. The price was higher than you’d expect for a motel but on a Saturday night in July in Port Angeles that’s what it costs. If I go back to Port Angeles I would definitely stay here again.

Easy check-in, the gentleman was very nice and engaging! The location was good - close to a walking path along water. However, I think the cleanliness could use improving..shower heads were moldy, and when I went to pull my bedsheets back, I found lots of little hairs everywhere in the sheets. Kinda gross...I picked them all off before getting under the covers.

I hesitated checking in when I pulled into the driveway. It didn’t look good from the outside and there was a pawn shop and adult store nearby, which gives you pause when you’re a woman traveling alone. However, the person at the check in desk was very nice and the motel room was surprisingly well appointed with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer, and the bed was very comfortable. The furnishings were rather worn, but functional. I unfortunately didn’t notice until the morning that there were no bath towels (just a facecloth and a hand towel) and the office didn’t open until after I left so I couldn’t get one. However, I’m guessing housecleaning just missed placing them by mistake.

The hotel was clean and recently renovated with newer amenities (bathroom lights/fan, bathroom tiles and carpet, large TV, bed). The AC was a welcomed relief from the heat/humidity, and the shower’s water pressure strong (one really has to give a nod to the older-era shower heads and plumbing…newer plumbing is scarce more than a drizzle). Parking was adequate for the motel, and the location was fairly close to the downtown eateries, etc. The noise from the street/other hotel guests outside was a bit louder than I would care for, but short of reconstructing the walls there is not much one can do about this. All-in-all, I would give The Royal Victorian a solid 4 stars, and stay again next time we come to Port Angeles.

Don't let the plain, but clean outside appearance dissuade you from staying at this motel. It was clean, comfortable, and the staff was very attentive and wanted to ensure our stay was positive.
The bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, shower was hot. I liked the small nightlight attached to the hair dryer so I did not have to turn on a bright light in the darkness.

Not worth renting here if you have another option. It's an old building and it shows. There is no elevator, the door to our room was hard to open and close, and the room smelled bad. Its proximity to restaurants and the low price are the saving graces.

Not the worst, but just dirty and run-down, mold on the shower curtains and in the corner of the tiles, dirty carpet. Feels like they’re not trying very hard. The pros: the beds were pretty comfortable and the towels were clean. Amenities like TV, mini-fridge were good. Port Angeles is not a fancy town so accommodations like this are the norm. If you’re pickier stay at the Red Lion on the Harbor, seems to be the nicest hotel around. This is a good location for seeing Hurricane Ridge…although any location in Port Angeles would be. Go to nearby Chestnut Cottage restaurant for breakfast if you’re in town! Also be prepared that many restaurants now town have super limited hours due to low-staffing and COVID restrictions at the moment.

A great pick for a quick overnight stop on a weekend trip, I was a late check in and they made it super easy and simple for me. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms and the nice size space and basic amenities like microwave and fridge. Would stay again for longer visit for sure, great value for the price.
