2nd time visiting Macon, 1st time staying at the 1842 Inn, but I will definitely be back. What a gem of a find. The rooms are lovely, and quite comfortable. The staff is friendly and ensure there is nothing you lack. Good selection for breakfast and everything was fresh and homemade. A nice and relaxing happy hour (drinks and appetizers)...

We met friends in Macon because it was a halfway mark for both of us. Our friends had already booked a room and when we arrived it was so beautiful and full of charm, we booked a room on the spot! We stayed in the Douglass room and it was comfortable and cozy! Our friends stayed in the Cotton Merchants...

After traveling Georgia's historic Antebellum Trail from Athens to Macon, my wife and I surfed the Internet to find a good place to stay in Macon. Friends recommended the 1842 Inn. It sounded like Tara. We made a reservation. We loved the experience. Built in 1842 by John Gresham, it is an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture with a...

This Inn is beautiful on the outside and just as beautiful on the inside. It is on one of the most, if not the most, historical streets in Macon. We had no idea Macon had So many stately homes that have been restored and are simply stunning. We stayed in the carriage house behind the Inn in the Douglas suite....

Was so happy that this Inn met the expectation for a lovely welcoming Southern respite! Gorgeous front porch with rocking chairs - nice for sipping your afternoon cocktail or morning beverage. The original staff person who checked us in was a little abrupt...not tremendously congenial as one would expect for this type of Inn; she did, however, warm up a...

What a beautiful Inn. Set in the historic district of Macon the 1842 is what you picture an Antebellum Southern home to be. Grand and welcoming. The rooms are all furnished in period items and perfectly appointed. The evening reception is what you would expect with unique/nicely presented appetizers and beverages. Breakfast is a delightful experience. You place your order...

When we travel north from Florida this is always our favorite stop!! Shirley was the warmest and most special concierge we have had in years. She was so kind and helped us order food and eat in the parlor since I we were really tired. We have stayed in many of the rooms but like the back porch and the...

We stayed at 1842 last night for the 3d time over the last 12 months. This time, we stayed in the Hawkins room in the Victorian cottage. As usual, we were greeted warmly, enjoyed the large room, comfy high bed, and had a wonderful breakfast. Let me also add that my wife left something behind in the room and EJ...

We had a single overnight stop here en route to Savannah so did not really have the time to enjoy the beautiful 1842 Inn fully. We stayed in the Nancy Hanks room which fronts the courtyard and is quiet. The room is a reasonable size with a compact bathroom, we found the decor and fittings a bit dated and dull....

This hotel made our stay in Macon special. Although it's grandeur gave you a great impression of past times in a grand antebellum house, you felt it was your home while you were there. We met lovely people there: all staff and several guests. Good location for walking to downtown places of interest. We didn't feel at all restricted as...

The 1842 Inn blends the amenities of a grand hotel and the ambiance of a country inn.
