"Fatboys" is derived from the character "Joe" from the book "The Pickwick Papers" by Charles Dickens. Joe-the “fat boy” consumes great quantities of food and constantly falls asleep in any situation at any time of the day; the Fatboys life revolves around drinking, eating, sleeping and making every conceivable effort to avoid work. Whilst at Fatboys Resort the customer becomes "Joe the Fatboy". Enjoy an ice cold bevy, a plate of fresh crayfish pan-fried in lime juice and butter, a game of pool, or simply kick back and be mesmerized by the myriad of tropical fish swimming underneath you. But being closly related to the writings of Dickens, there are of course many adventures to be had. Fatboys Resort, Bar & Restaurant is situated 100 metres out atop the crystal clear waters of Babanga island. A 10-minute boat ride from the airport and 15 minutes from Gizo, the provincial capital of the Western Solomons. We have 6 bungalows that offer you with spectacular views of an early morning sunrise watched straight from your bungalow. Fatboys Resort offers a completely unique hideaway and is the ultimate tropical beachside Reef experience. Featuring four private bungalows and one Beach-House each with large veranda's capturing the seductive views of Solomon Islands famous Crystal Clear water and stunning natural scenery. We took a few days after a busy workshop and it was very therapeutic! The staff are lovely and helpful, the food was good, the outlook is gorgeous. It is very relaxing but there are canoes, paddle boards and snorkeling equipment if you want to get some exercise and a bush walk to a local village which is interesting. The snorkeling at nearby Kennedy Island is very good due to the coral walls dropping down to deeper water, but the charge to cross over was a little high. We would go again.

Excellent accommodation, friendly attentive staff. Great snorkelling and good food. Highly recommended. The beer choice could be better, but this is the Solomon Islands. Boats for hire and free canoes and SUPs

Another great trip to the Solomons and my second stay at Fat Boys. Its always a pleasure to spend a few days at such a wonderful place. Mano runs a great operation. I could tell we were in good hands from the time we landed. It’s just a short boat ride to Fat Boys, but it’s a world away. Is there a better way to unwind after a long day working than a quick snorkel? I think not and there’s no better place to do that than Fat Boys. I can’t wait for my next trip to Fat Boys.

We stayed 5 nights in their deluxe over-water bungalow and it was just an amazing location. Views across the crystal clear water to Kennedy Island, our own platform with steps into the water for snorkelling. Clean, spacious rooms, serviced daily and our room had air conditioning - a welcome retreat from the humidity and made for good sleeping. We dived each day with Dive Gizo after breakfast at the resort and had meals in the evening - seafood of course, chicken and spaghetti bolognaise on other nights. Some veg meals or light options would have been nice too. Meals were a bit expensive (AU$35 to AU$45 each) for average club/pub quality and had limited choices - one entre and 4 mains usually, but to be fair this isn't a large resort either and prices were typical of most resorts / restaurants we experienced on Gizo. All up a good place to stay and we would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Fat Boys whilst SCUBA diving with Dive Gizo in Sept/Oct 2019. The location is incredibly beautiful. The bungalows are a little tired looking, but offer privacy and views. There is a small fridge and kettle, and you are provided with a liter of potable water each day to drink. All other drinking water must be purchased for a hefty price at the bar, or for less in town. Food - the food was good, but quite pricey. Service - the service was inconsistent - great on some days, indifferent on other days. One morning it took a half hour, in 5 minute increments to be served 2 coffee, 2 toast and 2 fruit (the same order every day for a week) Recommendation - buy drinking water when you go into Gizo. It is quite warm (90+) so you will need to drink more that the liter provided to you by Fat Boys.

Hi Gail, Thank you very much for taking your time to write this review. My Gravest apology on behalf of the Team, we are really sorry that at some point we did not meet your expectations. In every business, pricing is made in accordance to cover expenses and make a profit, therefore we apologize if you find us quite pricey. Regarding drinking water, we are being sensitive as our environment is different from yours, we fear that our natural rain water might not be suitable for you as you might not be adapted to it. As for our services, we are investigating what happened and will work on improving. We will be working on upgrading certain bungalows as soon as we have the time, that is when they're vacant. Thank you for staying with us and also thank you again for your review it helps us work on improving our resort. We really appreciate your time. Thanks! Ashley
