Clean, silky sand greets your toes as you get off the 4 minute boat ride to the resort. Shaun and his staff there were more than accommodating, welcoming, and go out of their way to ensure you feel at home. The pristine sandy beaches all around the resort and neighboring islands were the stars of the show for me. Snorkeling, trekking through the local villages, soght-seeing along the Kavieng- Namatanai highway, or just relaxing by the beach with a few cold ones or a good book are just a few of the many fun-filled activities offered. The traditional-style bungalows gives you that "lost-in-time" feeling, making you lose track of the busy, fast, modern life outside. The local villagers are easy-going and always welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended - 5 stars!

This is an amazing destination for an active get away or one of total relaxation. You will receive personalized attention from the moment you arrive. The resort's bungalows are awesome and beautifully maintained to a high standard. The food - especially the nightly buffet is exceptional. There are so many things to do: Go on the bike ride, head to Nago to swim, walk Big Nusa and don't forget to surf and snorkel. It is the only resort that I have ever been to that I felt like a VIP and part of the family all at the same time. It is a genuine piece of paradise on the Pacific. Thank you Sean and staff for an amazing experience. We will be back. Matt and Madonna

Hi Matt & Madonna Thanks for the feedback and much appreciated - shall enure to convey the same to the staff as they're the ones that make for the experience here on the ground. Yep - "Ples Yah" - Not about the Experience of Luxury ...... but rather, the Luxury of the Experience. Stoked that you you both had fab time and got the much needed R&R you were after - despite a couple of flawed attempts at travel with shifting Covid travel restrictions. Persistance pays in these uncertain times. Thanks for the glowing review. Lukim Yu Gen - behain taim ;)

The moment we arrived at Nusa Island Retreat we felt so welcome and relaxed. From the stunning over water bungalows to the fantastic service at the restaurant and bar, to the team who organised any activity we could dream of. The week we spent at this resort was 'just incredible'. One particular thing that simply blew me away was the way Kurt, Lucie and the team accommodated my food allergy. I am a severe coeliac, so eating out is not just a challenge but also a major risk, which is why I usually take a lot of food with me. But I did not need to worry about that here! They had bought new cooking equipment and utensils, organised a separate area in the kitchen for my food to be prepared, and educated the team on how and why they needed to be vigilant when preparing my food. Every day I was treated to a literal smorgasbord of amazing food – basically all the food that was being made for the rest of the guests was modified and cooked separately for me. From mud crab to bolognese (done with vermicelli noodles) to chicken and prawn skewers, meat patties and incredible salads - I was absolutely SPOILT. So to Kurt, Lucie and the team, you were amazing and gave me one of the best weeks away I can remember. I felt so safe and looked after I cannot wait to come and stay with you all again.

Thanks to all the Nusa Team that made our Christmas and New Year trip sensational. From the time we arrived to departure everything was done to a consistently very high standard. Given my love of surfing many friends had told me that this was a place I would love and had plenty to do for my much better half. My already high expectations were exceeded comfortably. Diving, snorkelling, visiting other islands, stuff to go and see and do along with great food and beverage service are all part of a great experience. The holiday went in a flash as the good ones always do. So once again thanks to all the team for a great experience.

WOW! What an amazing stay we had at Nusa Island Retreat. As a family with 2 young kids – it ticked all our boxes. The staff were easy going, efficient, professional and every single staff member offered first class hospitality. The premium overwater bungalow we stayed in was so thoughtfully well built and comfortable, that there were many days where we happily sat on our balcony – enjoying the gorgeous view, swinging on our hammock, lazing on the couch, and having a swim right from our door step. The compost toilet was easy to use, that even our 4 year old easily managed it. Our room had a laundry line, mosquito nets & coils and drinking water- which was refilled everyday. Our room had 3 queen beds - perfect for our family of four, with space for our luggage. The rooms were immaculately cleaned daily. We felt so looked after, that we were able to relax and switch off the minute we arrived – that’s a proper holiday! The atmosphere at Nusa is very island-style - with live-in birds, greenery and a beachfront. There is free kayak use – which we spent a day on exploring at big Nusa, the big breaks and just cruising around enjoying life. There’s wonderful snorkelling – reefs, a sunken plane and boat – and really the water in Kavieng is sooo turquoise, green and blue its just such a joy to be on it or in it every.single.day. Mainland is only 5 mins away, so if there is anything you need or you want to explore there, they can easily take you over for a small fee. We also did the trip out to see the eels (such a super amazing experience) and then on to Wara Bulau – a gorgeous refreshing freshwater swimming hole and the road there was near perfect. Thanks so much to everyone at Nusa for the best PNG holiday. Can't wait to come back. From the Tsoupis'

An absolute Gem in PNG. We visited for my partners birthday and it ended up being the BEST trip we’ve done in PNG. Small, clean, intimate resort. Spectacular overwater bungalow as we watched the full moon rise on the bay. The team made us feel welcome. Food and bar service was excellent. The manager went the extra mile to make our trip extra special, providing chili mud crab on the buffet (my partners favorite), birthday cake, champers and room upgrade to an overwater bungalow. The animals around the resort (parrots, birds of paradise, cockatoo, doggies) are such a delight to watch them being cared for. We had such a great time here and have already booked to return again.

After 4 months working on a nearby island, Nusa was a great spot with amazing food. They had three course dinners and it was really great quality with mud crab and curries and the best desserts. It was a chilled vibe and the hammock on the deck was beautiful and relaxing. The room was nice however probably wasn’t expecting cold showers but added to the ambience coupled with the shell handbasin. No aircon but not really needed - they have mozzie bets and ceiling fans and I over looking the water was very relaxing BUT... B6 is not a premium room and you should avoid this at all cost. As another review wrote, boats start leaving at 5am and it is very close to the bar where people sit and talk until 1am and it was awful in this regard. You hear everything. Behind the villa is where pots from the kitchen get washed at 2am which was also unpleasant but did only hear this on my last night thankfully. Co-workers had overwater bungalows and these were lovely. Out of the 4 rooms we had, mine was definitely the worst... which was a shame as I was so looking forward to sleeping past my normal waking time of 5am at the mine. Would like to stay again but only if overwater bungalows are available!!!

Hi Belinda, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that the location of your accommodation did not meet your expectations this time around and I hope that we can host you once more in the future in an overwater bungalow. The limited setting which we have does make that particular room a little noisier than others, and I again apologise. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed the meals here. I'll ensure that your next trip here sees you stay in an overwater bungalow. Thanks again

I have just returned from 6 days staying at Nusa Island Retreat with my husband and two children, 1 and 3. Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. The location was spectacular, every corner a tropical picture postcard. The accomodation was basic luxury, a mix of traditional and modern materials. We had a Premium Bungalow which was clean, comfortable and spacious. A covered walkway connected our private ensuite to our main room. The view from the balcony - amazing! The food, quite simply, A+++++. Dinner was buffet style and catered to all tastes. The highlight was the fresh seafood - mudcrab, crayfish (lobster), fish. Breakfast and lunch were a la carte with plenty of tasty options. The best part about Nusa was the ability to be as active, or inactive as you pleased. We are not surfers and visited outside of surf season. Want to lounge in a hammock oceanside all day? Easy. Want to get in a banana boat and catch a fish or island hop to explore deserted islands, reefs, WWII relics? Not a problem. Kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear all available for use. I only have two minor points that would have made Nusa 110/100: 1) Hot water for showers. I'm a sook about cold showers, even in the tropics! 2) Some small tweaks to accommodate super little people - our 1 year old required supervision on our bungalow balcony to make sure she didn't toddle off the edge as the balustrade was so open. We expected this before going though and our 3yr old was totally fine. All in all, Managers Kurt & Lucie, and their wonderful staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a happy one. I truely hope we get to go back one day soon.

HI, Thank you very much for your kind review of Nusa Island Retreat. We are always pleased to hear when guests enjoy their time with us and aim to offer a memorable experience consistently. We are looking into an effective and environmentally approach to introduce hot water into our premium bungalows. As well, the premium beachfront bungalow where you stayed, along with some other premium bungalows, will be having daybeds built in the coming weeks to not only offer a more secure area for the little ones, but also a comfortable outdoor lounge area. We hope to have you and the family back in the near future.
