Our family of four were looking for a small remote pacific island destination for clean air, fresh clean food, some cultural experience and beautiful islands - and that exactly what we got. Kurt and Sean were great with corresponding about our many questions. Airport pickup and drop-off all easy and we felt immediately comfortable at the resort. The traditional open-style thatched cabins were just perfect. Ceiling fans were a must and there were no power lapses and no sound of a generator. Mosquito nets were reassuring but I think I saw only one mosquito in the week. Beds and pillows were good. The bathroom was simple stylish and very clean. The food was fantastic - not just fresh and local, but my wife has Coeliac disease and we NEVER go anywhere without her getting sick - until Nusa! The ladies in the kitchen did an amazing job of ensuring there was no gluten contamination in the choice of dishes available to my wife with every meal. A menu with fresh local lobster, mud crab and tuna could never go wrong for me. We did day trips to several nearby islands for swimming, beach-combing, snorkelling and hoped-for out-of-season surf (which didn't happen) but the reefs were great and the water very clear. The locals were lovely and genuinely friendly. There was good family fun had with table tennis, board and card games, as well as free SUPS and kayaks if you want to spend some energy. We loved the barefoot style, the old resort dogs and the pet parrots and horn bills joining you for meals or sitting on the decks. That's not 5 star resort style - but exactly what we were looking for. …
We came to Nusa Island Resort to unwind after the Goroka Festival. Beautiful place, excellent bungalows, dining fantastic--a very inspired chef. We could have used more attention from the owners and tips on what to do.
Low key and relaxed atmosphere, excellent buffets for dinner and a background that rivals the best exotic islands. Staff willing to assist with any request and the owners very knowledgeable. Great nights spent at the bar!!
Best holiday ever! A beautiful setting with amazing crew, everything to give a guest an amazing experience is thought of and anything you would like to do is organised for you. Thanks so much guys we will be back next year for sure! Kel and Matty
I miss it so much. Lying in a hammock watching the sun set and rise, listening to the sound of the waves lapping, the birds singing and the fish jumping is the best way to relax, ever. Stunning coral reefs, great snorkelling, and a great 3-day sea-kayaking trip on top of that made me one very happy lady. From the moment you arrive, you can lterally kick off your shoes and wander around barefoot. Oh, ond the food was consistently superb. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I even miss the morning visits from the 'pet' hornbill which had taken a liking to my toes. It's a long way to go from Wales, but it was worth it.
