We stayed here two nights and although the room is tiny #20 it was warm and cozy, even in the middle of the night we didn’t have to put on a heater.
The bed linen is lovely and soft. Towels are a little scratchy and thin.

The lodge is just off the Main Street so you can park your car at the hotel and walk.

Overall, thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Clean, tidy and well presented. End unit had a beautiful view of the valley and a small private seating area. 5 minutes walk to the township. Stunning location. The peace and quite at night time was amazing. Keas came to breakfast early in the morning ( on the outdoor furniture).

Stop your hotel search and book this place! We've done the leg work for you . We arrived in Franz Josef and selected this hotel from among many choices based on its attractive rooms, location, and cleanliness.

We have stayed in accomodations throughout Europe, North America, and Oceania, and this is one of the nicest hotel rooms we've had.

The room was beautiful, with floor to ceiling windows looking out to the snow capped peaks beyond. All the little touches that make a hotel special were included: thick white towels (and plenty of them); soft pillows; a luxurious en-suite jacuzzi tub; tea, coffee, and even a french press; a fully equipped mini-kitchen; a king size bed, sofa, and dining table. The hotel is a quick walk to restaurants, shops, and the grocery store. Parking is right outside the room, making it easy to retrieve luggage.

Anthony was very welcoming and helped us find a dinner spot. I don't write reviews often, so when I do, it means the place really stood out. Our only regret was not being able to stay another night.

Please note this is a motor court, and so no central lobby, bar, restaurant...

We were very unsure about this one when we booked, we were very lucky to be upgraded to a better room, very spacious with a good kitchenette, super bed and good shower. My issue with them is the awful TV offering and the dreadfully slow wifi. If you won't give decent TV then you must give give good wifi to enable streaming, it only does emails. Not much extra investment needed to make it great.
Only a few minutes walk to the centre.

We stayed in a Standard King Studio on a one night stopover on our way through the Haast. The room was modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Check-in was prompt and efficient. The motel is close to a number of good restaurants.

The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise from other units.

We thought the price of $90.00 was very reasonable.

We booked a room with a spa bathtub and it had a superb view from the private little deck. It was good to have a kitchenette to prep food as dining like most of the South Island is expensive. The housekeeping was of a high standard. The room had parking at the door. The quality of the bed and linen was good., and we enjoued the streaming service. My mum and I loved sitting with a cup of tea on the deck watching delightful birds feeding at the motel's garden flowers while immersed in the stunning mountain view. The motel is conveniently located as only 1 block from the main street. A number of hiking trails start nearby. We'd definitely stay again.

A stunning modern studio room with a spa bath. Small outside terrace with Mountain View. Everything we needed and easy walk to small local town which suited us perfectly. Extra-large bed exceptionally comfortable.

Very tight vehicle through-fare because of limited parking space outside rooms and slightly thoughtless parkers. Exceptional local scenery driving to Fran’s Joseph and onward down to Wanaka.

Check-in was quick and painless, we were directed room 22 which was in the 'basement' part of the complex. We could not park outside our room which was a designated 'no parking' zone, rather had specific space near the road at the exit. This was fine except the two units each side who did have a car park outside theirs chose to spread out in front of our unit, effectively reducing access to our front slider door. Needless to say we had to keep our curtains drawn. This needs to be addressed by management. Their was a distinctive musty smell in our room and we traced it to the plumbing, specifically the kitchen waste pipe. Being a small studio, it was not possible to escape the odour without leaving the front sliding door open. The one saving grace was that the bed was comfortable. The property is older and in need of a make-over. Going on how full it was the night we were there, the rooms are likely well-used and turnover high. We would choose to stay elsewhere next time in Franz Josef.

We stayed at this property over the long Easter weekend and we found it not lacking in anything. The staff were great. The room was large enough to accommodate a small table and chairs with a huge bathroom. One street off the Main Rd which was perfect. Lovely and quiet. Great Bed. Excellent sleep. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Off street parking.
