Te Waonui is a modern hotel on the main road. It is no closer to the glacier than any other hotel in the area. The rooms are small, but serviceable. Restaurant is ok and the service is quite good. This is essentially the only high end hotel around...

What a great hotel! Big comfortable room. Ok wifi, lots of outlets. 2 comfortable queen beds. A heated floor in the large bathroom. Either New or newly renovated the place is beautiful and the surroundings are as well. The breakfast buffet had the best coffee we've had in NZ

Very friendly and efficient staff. Nice clean room. The 5 course degustation dinner was excellent. The cultural show at 6 in the bat was well done. They even gave me a rose to hive to my wife as I checked out on Valentines day morning

We stayed as part of a group. Not our favourite hotel a bit too precious prides itself on green policies but forgot customer service. The room was dark, shower dangerously slippy . The so called tasting meal was poor. The staff brought out hot plates but we waited so long for the main course the plates went stone cold. The food...

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. It was definitely one of the best, if not the best hotel we stayed in on our recent trip to New Zealand. The staff were great, being both professional and friendly. Stay here its fantastic!!

One of the nicest rooms of our trip. The food at the retreat was AWESOME and the 5 course meal at dinner was purely entertaining. The location was perfect and made an easy trip to the glacier. The hotel staff were friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us as much as possible as there were six of...

The hotel was beautiful with excellent food and a great breakfast. The room felt like it was in a garden. The only problem was the mattress was bad and bulged in the middle and slopped on the sides. When we pointed this out to the otherwise wonderful staff, they said it couldn't be because hotel was only 6 years old....

Dear Christine Thank you for your review and disappointing that we let ourselves down by not double-checking your mattress. Whilst I am sure it had nothing to do with your mattress it may have been something to do with your feather topper. I will stress the importance to everyone to be more vigilant in this regard. Yours sincerely Richard

The hotel is over selling itself. It is not a treehouse in the middle of the forest.... it is a massive over probably 80 rooms on the side of the main road. You can hear the music from the pubs across the fence so not exactly secluded.... the room was good, no complaints here but dinner was not as good....

We were driving the well worn trail between Queenstown and Greymouth to pick up the train back to Christchurch and, of course, booked to stay close to the glaciers to take in the wonderful visuals. The resort is well-positioned, just a stroll to the facilities of Franz Josef, including the helicopters, restaurants, general store, etc. The resort is relatively high...
