I understand this motel has changed hand recently. It is now run by a lovely family who were very friendly and helpful. The room was large, spotless and well equipped.

Really, really good.
Huge room, immaculate bathroom, modern furnishings, big comfy bed and very central location.
Even has plunger coffee in room!
WiFi patchy but if you’re here for that then you should have stayed home!

As the crow flies it's probably only 20 km or so..and you can take a helicopter flight from the town up over the glaciers to view Aoraki. By road it's probably closer to 500km!! Your on the other side of the southern alps and there is no tunnel. Best is to find accommodation at Mt Cook village or Tekapo but do visit the West Coast later in your trip. Hope that helps
