Four of us stayed at The Workshop before starting the Trail. What a lovely place and we were regally attended to by the owners Lynne and Barry. On arriving, the fridge was full of what we needed for our early start the following day and everything we could have wanted was available. It's quirky too in its design and a...

we stayed 2 nights at The Workshops. The first night prior to starting the Roxburgh Gorge/Clutha Gold cycle trails and the second after completing trial and before starting the Otago Central Rail trial. The accommodation was excellent, clean and spacious. Nice breakfast. Even got a load of washing done.

The workshops consists of a number of bedrooms with shared bathrooms , kitchen and living room . It would be great for a group or family . We stayed as a couple and had the whole place to ourselves. We arrived late after a wet day cycling and the hosts greeted us with a warm fire , and had reserved...

We were 3 families and this accommodation was perfect for us. The kids loved the mezzanine floor with sky TV, and all 3 couples enjoyed having a room to themselves. The breakfast was generous and we were amazed to come back from dinner over the road at The Post Office (also a great place to go) to find Lynne had...

Last day on the The Otago Rail Trail - what a wonderful place ! So welcoming, lovely owners and dogs :) Clean, homely, home made cookies and fresh fruit....nothing was a problem, even when I set off the fire alarm whilst cooking dinner ! The pit was an interesting feature in the living room and provided a talking point !...

This really is a special and well-presented place to stay. Lyne and Barry put in the work to keep the enormous guest quarters welcoming, and are often nearby in their premises with some trademark Kiwi hospitality. Whether you are two people keen to make the best of the giant kitchen, or a bigger group wanting to spread out over the...

Such a cool place to stay. Friendly owners and dogs. Really cleverly converted place. Really clean. Well laid out and the excellent Post Office only 2 mins walk where you can eat well and serving food all day. So if you want to stay in place with character in spade fulls, then this is for you. It was raining so...

We were a group of 8 who had the pleasure staying in this quirky, interesting and most importantly comfortable place. The workshops were perfect for our eclectic mix of friends/couples etc, but the icing on the cake has to be Lyne & Barry. Their friendliness and nothing is to much trouble attitude really did make the difference. Lyne cleaned the...

“If traveling as a couple you may want to request a room upstairs (the hosts would probably put you there anyway) as you can hear the upstairs movements (walking) from the downstairs rooms. If doing the Otago Rail Trail also note it is about 2km with slight uphills from the Trail head, so if you are wanting to save your energy for the trail you may want to arrange transport.”
