We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed the French chateau style environment; a nice change from the city hotels. Staff friendly and helpful, lounge antique style furniture luxury and comfort. Bedrooms comfortable with modern updates in keeping with overall style. Overall a great comfortable base to come back to after a day's walking. The down sides- Some areas tired looking...

We didn't stay at this hotel but the high tea we had here deserves a review. We had a beautiful cake stand of food to share for each couple. It was all delicious. We had trouble eating it all but managed in the end. If we ever come back to this area it is something we would again.

Beautiful hotel in a spectacular setting. The lounges and restaurants are stately and have the air of days past (even serve high tea). Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The only negative experience was the food in the pub/cafeteria. Relatively pricey for what I think poor quality though the staff was nice. The hotel otherwise more than lived up...

You get amazing views of Mt Ngauruhoe from this hotel. I'm sure at one time this was a grand hotel but some of the rooms need desperate upgrading. They've added on over the years making it odd to find our room. We were able to take the elevator with our luggage tot he first floor only to evenly have to...

Good experience from check in, friendly staff. Room was lovely and comfortable. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant. I was disappointed as I had arranged a special birthday surprise for my partner with the lovely guy at Reception. However, the restaurant staff forgot. Spoiled things for me

What a place to stay, it has that special old charm that is missing in modern hotels, upon entering the chateau you are greeted by polite staff and then you enter the main areas that are full of history that are very nicely presented, we had a spa room on the 3rd level and the room was beautiful and spacious,...

Special atmosphere, spectacular setting. Nice old school rooms and a good restaurant that offers a bit of style at a reasonable price. The lounge area looking out at the mountains is hard to beat anywhere, don't sit alone in he dark though...think 'The Shining" :-)
