Rather than repeat the many varying comments made by others I will just give our experiences. Given the location the room pricing was excellent for our 2 night stay - this is not a 5 star hotel where you pay $500/night plus - at half that price including a good breakfast it was excellent value. The building looked magnificent with...

I have traveled to dozens of countries and visited hundreds of hotels around the world. But this hotel I love the most! The hotel is situated in a secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of the city among volcanoes. It has a solemn and friendly atmosphere. Everything is beautiful, tasty, comfortable, soundly and efficiently. Here you want to...

The location and setting is beautiful. Is the inside a bit faded? - sure but its still grand and the view is amazing. We took our kids and the large family room was a great size - big enough for us all to sleep in one room but not be on top of each other. The downstairs 'bar/lounge' let us...

Four of us had the high tea at this hotel. The decor was most impressive and the room provided a relaxing place with lovely views. The high tea provided was a mixed selection all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service was efficient and we felt good value for money.

Impressive exterior, dated lobby, and our room in the 'new' wing seemed bland and smallish. The location is the reason to stay here. Little information offered at check-in (the information site nearby was quite helpful); more information was offered at check out (!), so staff varies in communication. Large and varied breakfast buffet. Dinner was so-so: the food acceptable but...

Everything about this hotel suggests tiredness. dating back to its opening in 1929, not much seems to have changed, only for the worse. The golf course is overgrown and not in use (understandable due to cost but sad all the same) as is the bowls green. The decor is old and tired. We asked to eat in the main restaurant...

This place is dreadful. We stay in a horrible noisy overheated room (reminds you of Mordor, but is rather die to some ventilation going on for the rest of the night, in a surrounding which would otherwise be completely still). A really decrepit place which hasn't seen much renovation ever since. It looks impressive from the outside though, however oddly...

A very imposing Hotel tucked into the countryside in the middle of the National Park. Most visitors to the area are walkers and hikers and the elegance of this hotel was a surprise with walking boots and cagoules the preferred daytime dress. The rooms were comfortable and the public area's very luxurious. It rained quite heavily during our stay and...

We stayed there for a couple of nights in early Feb 2017, it's a grand old place and any modernisation has been tasteful and in keeping with the atmosphere and tradition of the heritage. The staff and presentation was faultless, we were there as a couple; the first night was my wife's birthday. We dined in the restaurant and had...

The hotel looks very impressive from outside and inside the building, it's like going back in time. We were very unlucky with our room with no views and constant noise(probably from nearby laundry place).
