Myself and a friend had a wonderful time here! We stayed in the Lavender chalet. The bed was very comfortable and a good shower in the bathroom. There were also kayaks available to take down to the beach which was great fun. However what made this place for us were the little things provided such as the fresh coffee, homemade muesli, a warm loaf of bread on arrival and the grapefruit tree behind the house which we could squeeze the fruit from to make fresh juice. The BBQ set up was also great so we cooked one night and the host herself was lovely and gave us a great intro to the place. Would recommend this for friends, a couple or small family looking to getaway for a rejuvenating break!
Purangi Garden is situated in a tranquil waterfront location, well away from the crowds at Hahei. We stayed in Sunflower Cottage, overlooking the waterfront on one side and beautiful gardens on the other. Our little cottage had a double, single and addtional bed on the mezannine floor. Plenty of space for me, my mother and teenage son. The kitchenette and BBQ meant we could prepare our meals on site. We had a bowl of fresh fruit, eggs, home made muesli and freshly baked bread for our breakfast. We loved making use of the kayaks and exploring some of the walking tracks on the property. The location means you are not far from exploring some of the other attractions in the region, including Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove and some other stunning local beaches. Thanks for sharing this idyllic area with us. We will definitely be back sometime soon.…
We stayed in Lavender which looks like a converted garden shed but is really comfortable well equip ted and the hosts were so kind. Home made bread and jam and a box of avocados to take when we left. This is peace defined but the water is 50 metres away. To get to it the track is 5 km of largely unmade up track and steeply down hill at end. Only down side is mosquitoes in caste numbers. Sorry for this.
Well worth the stay. An absolute gem of a place but as usual not long enough. Will be going again as my friends and I absolutely adored it. Must mention the gardens, proximity to Cooks Beach, 10 mins to cathedral Cove (where Narnia was filmed); Wow just wow!
2 nights in Purangi House was not enough we realised once we settled in, the home, gardens and surrounds are so peaceful and tranquil. The views are stunning and you can sit on the deck for hours looking out at the bay and listening to the crash of waves and the tui’s feeding in the trees, it’s sublime. The house had everything we needed, ample space with 3 bedrooms & a large open space downstairs with more beds. The only thing a large group might want would be an extra bathroom if 10 of you were staying. There is a short stroll down the property to the beach along with a running creek, it’s so beautiful! The house is situated in a convenient short drive to so many bays, Hahei, hot water beach & cathedral cove which we got to see in our short visit. The owners were lovely, leaving fresh flowers in every room, the fireplace ready to lite along with fresh fruit & supplies. If you are a gardener you will adore this house & it’s sprawling, beautifully maintained gardens, so many plants! Stay much longer than we did, there is so much more to discover. I can’t wait to return. …
