Just came back from one of my most memorable vacations. I stayed in La Selva for 5 days in the Ecuadorian Tropical Rainforest with my family. Everything related to the hotel exceeded our expectations: beautiful, practical and well designed infrastructure, great food and drinks, excellent service. The daily activities were impecably planned and excecuted. We had 2 extremely knowledgeable tour guides, who were able to show us how all the thousands of animal and plant species live in perfect balance in this human - untouched environment. I highly recommend this experience to anyone!

If I could give them another star I would do it!! We were the first group they received since they re-open after the country’s shut down for coronavirus. They have a complete security protocol which made us feel confident that they care a lot about ensuring the safety of their guests during this special Period. We felt very lucky to have Paul as our naturalist guide and Dario as the native guide. Both made a great team and gave us all the complete details about the jungle, the animals, plants, trees and even more. We got to do a canoe trip at night and had the fortune of having a completely clear night full of stars and Paul explained all about them. We have done other trips to the jungle, since we live in the country, and by far this is the most memorable in many aspects: the amount of animals we saw, the knowledge of the guides, the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the confort and details of the rooms. The food was great and they had the gesture, especially the chef and Bernardo of preparing special food for my daughter that has to follow some food restrictions due to a health situation. They were on every detail of it. The spa and the jacuzzi is a superb experience since you get to have the massages with the sounds of the jungle. This has definitely been one of the best trips we have done with my family. Highly recommended!!

I was in La Selva in October 2019, but to this day I still dream of the jungle I experienced there. In the first couple of months I had very frequent dreams at night, seeing the birds and the trees, jaguars and monkeys. My actual experience was not too far from these dreams. I saw the most spectacular nature I could ever have wished for, and I was deeply touched to see the animals I've known of since childhood, in their natural habitat. Alligators, anaconda, monkeys (ti-ti monkey <3 ), turtles, parrots, toucans, spiders and insects and some of the other guests saw a jaguar! Most of all, it was a huge impression to see and feel how the jungle with all of its life, is a massive organism, where everything is in harmony. How foolish the norms of civilization seems, when standing still in this paradise. Even the dangerous aspects of life seem to have their place, without violating the harmony. Now the ecolodge experience was equally magical! -Wonderful people there -I feel so lucky to have had Paul as our guide -everything he showed & told us was captivating. Enrique (Pajarito!) was with us on our jungle walks and the canoe, he too was amazing. Across the lagoon he was able to identify the types of monkeys (not visible from the distance), just from the movement of the trees, to mention but one of our guides expert knowledge. In the beautiful dining area (where all meals were beautiful and delicious), we always felt at home, with the hearty greetings of Juanito and Bernardo -I will never forget this! Also our hostess with the mostess was so helpful and friendly -unfortunately I don't remember her name. Last but not least, on our last night I had the best massage ever, just at the edge of the jungle. The masseuse had serious skills! In just 4 days, this place really left its imprint on me. Going back to Coca in the morning (5am) with the canoe, was a very poetic and magical farewell. Hopefully I will have the honor to go back to Amazonia -I'm forever humbled & enchanted! Anyway, I lost my Aries zodiac patch in my room! Maybe I need to go back and get it!

We were so fortunate to have experienced 2 nights of our stay when the country shut down for coronavirus. It is just a magical place. We were greeted at Coca airport and then 2 hours down the Napo River transferring to a little canoe for half an hour into the private lagoon of La Selva. Lovely box lunch as we travel was greatly appreciated. Accommodations were beautiful with a large room and balcony. The oversize fan kept us quite comfortable at night. I appreciated the L'Occitane products. The food was marvelous and I really enjoyed that we ate with our guide Paul. He was so knowledgeable about animals and plants in the jungle. We enjoyed two evening canoe rides , one hike to observation tower and then we were given the information that Ecuador was closing its border to incoming flights effective the next day. We were advised to find flights home tomorrow from Quito. La Selva and Paul did so much to help us navigate this difficult situation. The concern to help us return home in light of the fact that their jobs would be on hold for at least 30 days was phenomenal. Yoga is offered 4 times a day and I was able to enjoy a class. Great instructor! I was also able to have a lovely massage in the jungle. I hope we will be able to visit again.

Dear Voyaguerfoodie, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review. We hope you are back home and safe. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, and given the circumstances, we are happy glad the exit from both La Selva and Ecuador went smoothly. It is a difficult time for everyone, and we did the best we could considering the very last minute notice we received, regarding the situation of Covid-19 within the country. We called out all the stops in order to get you back to Quito in time, and we believe our team excelled in such an extraordinary situation. Your feedback is a testiment for all future travelers, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We wish you all the very best, please stay home, so you can travel to La Selva again in the near future! #stayhome #traveltomorrow Sincerely, La Selva Amazon Ecolodge & Spa

We LOVED our three night stay at La Selva Ecolodge. The room was huge, netted bed, large bathroom and fantastic little balcony looking over the lagoon. The food was fantastic, staff were very attentive and helpful including arranging a surprise birthday cake and bottle of champagne for me with my mum in Australia. The spa is a lovely touch for a massage and is secluded - just you and nature. Our local guide Henry was amazing and our main guides Robby was incredibly knowledgeable, funny and made our trip memorable. The guides join you for dinner each night which is a nice way to get to know them more too. The groups are small - no more than 5-6 people per guide so it is very personable and they will stay out exploring for as long as you’d like (within limits of course). It was the perfect way to see the Amazon and the wildlife spotting was beyond belief!! Do yourselves a favour and stay here - once in a lifetime, bucket list item!
