La Selva Amazon Ecolodge offers wildlife tours, special birdwatching programs, honeymoon trips and family excursions, all in harmony with the rainforest around you. At La Selva, guests are given the opportunity to explore intricate trail systems led by both a local Native Guides and a bilingual Naturalist Guides divided into small groups in order to maximize overall experiences. La Selva’s guides are the key to fulfilling and captivating outings because they already know the area well by seeing, and hearing things guests cannot. They are passionate about the jungle and their years of experience make all the difference between an acceptable tour and an astounding tour in the Amazon. Native guides are from the local communities and behold an awesome amount of ancestral knowledge about the Amazon. The Naturalist Guides that lead guests through the Amazon are bilingual and have studied and trained for many years in order to become a Naturalist and National Park certified guide.

We enjoyed the experience, but it's a bit of a haul to get there! 1 hour flight from Quito to Coca, them 2 hours on a motorboat down the river, followed by a half hour in a canoe. Nice lodge with decent food. No AC and it can be steamy, mosquito. Eats on the beds and a small

The location is exceptional. After more than two hours in a narrow boat down by the river Napo we deboated in a basic dock, walked couple of minutes and use a small paddle canoe to reach the hotel. What an arrival. Probably my best ever! The lodge common areas are nice and well

We stayed for 3 nights at the lodge, we were in room #15. Our room was large and clean. Staff across the lodge were all helpful and polite, eager to help with any queries. We had a private native and naturalist guides (Dany and Henry). Both were excellent. We did private hikes

Dear Italian_kilt, Thank you for your positive comment and suggestions on Trip Advisor. We are glad to know you enjoyed your stay at La Selva, and specially the service provided by our staff. It is very important to have excellent guides in an ecosystem such as the rainforest, and for this reason we carefully select the guides that work with us, based in their knowledge, experience, character, respectfulness, and other virtues. Our chefs do a hard work at La Selva and we are happy to know you liked the meals provided. Thank you for the tip, we will consider a way to improve the mosquito nets in beds. We have actually changed the box lunch provided during the canoe ride through the river several times. It has been difficult to please everyone, but we find your suggestion attractive, and will consider it as an option if it is logistically possible as there are unfortunately some difficulties involved; nonetheless we are sure we will find an optimal option. Regarding the visit to the native house, let us explain, the community is working on a local project, nevertheless the people in the community continue to have an authentic daylife, and our interest is that visitors appreciate this authenticity. We will analyze the visit in order to find a way to improve the experience. We continue to offer the highest standards of service and invest a lot of efforts in order to keep improving. We are very grateful for your constructive comment which will help us grow and keep innovating. Hope to host you sometime again in the future. Best Wishes, La Selva Amazon Ecolodge

If you are lucky enough to be able to afford this place, you must go. Why? 1. Location - the journey itself is an adventure, motorised canoe along the Napú river, a short walk, then a paddled small canoe along a creek to the massive private lagoon, home to La Selva. You can

La Selva is a trek to get to, but that is an adventure in itself. So cool to arrive by canoe, and be greeted by smiling staff and a refreshing cool drink. We were quickly checked in, and happy we made a choice of accommodation in the main lodge, overlooking the lake. Our room

Dear Travebug, Thank you for your comment on Trip Advisor. You are right, the adventure at La Selva actually begins at the moment you get off the plane in Coca! We are glad to know you enjoyed the facilities at the lodge, and the amenities provided in your room. We put lots of attention into these small details that make a big difference in such an environment. We are happy to know you liked the special dinner offered in Christmas, our chef will receive your compliments definitely. Service is our pride at the lodge, and it is important for us to accommodate to our guests travel needs as much as possible, Dany does always a great job as a guide and we are glad to have him in our team. Our clients feedback also motivate our employees for which we are very grateful. We will definitely consider the acquisition of another boat, and more seats at the bar lounge specially when the lodge is full! Thanks again for your kind words and suggestions that always help us improve. Warmest wishes, La Selva Amazon EcoLodge

It's almost on the Equator, so there's no winter, only a wet and a dry season. December is the wet season. We went in January it was great.

The hikes are not strenuous at all. The temperatures and humidity in February were quite ok - nothing to be worried about. Guess they are not much different in July. I would have loved to go with my granddaughter. Hope you can go. Enjoy!
