For the average tourist and first timer to Amazonia this is the way to go. Please understand you are not going to the Amazon River, you are going to Amazonia, a province in Ecuador that is part of the Amazon River basin. This part of the basin is protected and you'll see plenty of rainforest and critters. The Manatee is... More

The ship was Clean and comfortable, the food was an experience into local food, good quality and plentiful. The Crew were brilliant and the guides made the whole experience fun. We spent May 6-12 on the Manatee and there were only 3 guests for the week. What a great time. We did everything and more on the weekly schedule. Diego was great. Very patient as my wife could not find the birds and monkeys right away. She was also ill the first night and the kitchen staff made a special... More

Ecuadorian Amazon is true protected rainforest in the Amazon basin. Yasuni National Park and the Quichua people's villages, black water tributaries, it was amazing! We saw 3 species of macaws, 6 species of monkeys, camen, pink river dolphin, parrots and parakeets and dozens of other species. Poor guides, Raul and Diego are excellent, knew the people, the land, the river,... More

We have spent a week on the Manatee cruising the Rio Napo in Ecuador and it has been amazing. I have read some of the complaints written about the boat particularly but I think that if you put into context where you are in the world they are insignificant things. It is quite old but very clean & comfortable and... More

The use of the word Amazon is FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING. The boat is on the Napo River which in NO WAY is the Amazon. We were hundreds of miles from the Amazon. The Napo is barely navigable in some spots and is laced with sand bars that cause boats to wind their way along the river missing hazards as they go.... More

Itinerary: We took the weekend trip which takes you on a night walk, to the clay lick and observation tower to see parrots. We encountered monkeys, an anaconda, a wild boar, carrier ants out of National Geographic, visited an aboriginal cultural centre, and canoed through a swampy area where we saw caimans and birds in the pouring rain.
