Although expedition cruising by its very nature is characterized as adventurous, the safety of our staff and passengers is of paramount importance to us. The brand new Manatee Amazon Explorer is fully equipped and maintained in order to handle the most challenging conditions and circumstances, and is manned by experienced and conscientious expedition staff and crew. The canoes used for daily shore landings are rugged and versatile and are operated responsibly by experienced personnel. Onboard you will be fully briefed on all pertinent safety issues and concerns, as well as our environmental policy; passengers also receive appropriate and detailed briefings before each landing.

The Manatee Amazon Explorer was recommended to us by a tour company who helped us us our month long tour to the Amazon and surrounds together. Where do I start? The flight from Quito was very quick 30 minutes and comfortable. We were met at Coca by our guide for the next few days by “Eagle Eye” Diego. A 2 hour motorized canoe trip to the Manatee is comfortable. On arrival we were met by Ariana and taken to our accommodations. Wow! There are no words to describe how beautiful and spacious our rooms and bathrooms were with views that come out of movies! The difference between the standard and the deluxe is not a deal breaker. If you can afford the deluxe then do it but the standard rooms are amazing and we are demanding people! There is not a complaint that I can find except the fact that 3 nights are too short! Staff excellent. Food excellent. River boat and motorized canoe spotlessly clean and is excellent condition. Day tours excellent. Night tour too amazing for words. Don’t forget your torch/flashlight to check out all the night critters. I cannot begin to mention the animals we saw as each visitor will have their own experience but assure you that you will not be disappointed. We so wish that we had at least a 5 night stay if not a 7 night stay! This is a trip to remember for the rest of our lives!

The new modernized Manatee was great! Love having a room with balcony. We were two couples from Canada and all four of us can’t express how wonderful the entire staff was . We did a 5 day cruise and had an amazing experience and really feel we had an Amazonia experience. Great value !!

We took a 5 day cruise. It was an excellent and relaxing way to see the rainforest away from the crowds. There was a varied programme of activities including walking, kayaking and exploring on a motorised canoe. You need to be flexible about changes to activities if it rains. However, the onboard naturalist and guide does all he can to maximise your experience. The boat was recently refurbished. We stayed in a superior cabin which was very comfortable and it had a small balcony. Plenty of hot water. Free wifi is available in the restaurant and bar in the evenings, although we were able to get it in our cabin at this time too. The crew, cruise manager, Arianna and captain were excellent. They were professional, efficient, very approachable and friendly. We felt very much at home on the boat. They kept the boat scrupulously clean. The food was good and very plentiful. Would definitely recommend this trip.

Probably the best way to visit the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. The boat was clean, the rooms big and functional, the food was good, with a buffet for the breakfast and the choice between 2 main courses for lunch and dinner, we would have loved to eat fresh river fishes, unfortunately it was not possible. We were only 4 passengers for 10 crew members, therefore the visits with the guide were like private tours. The guide was very knowledgeable and he was able to detect any small animals who were totally invisible to our eyes. The rest of the crew was very kind starting with the captain who was incredibly friendly.
