We arrived early and they couldn't accommodate an early check in, so no biggie we waited the three hours, paid $3.50 a beer and when it was finally time to check in the guy was slow as molasses - we upgraded to the delux room and all we got was the vista de banos (avoid room 205) I complained and... Montañita is located in the province of Santa Elena, located in the famous "Ruta del Sol"; Montañita takes its name from being located in a cove surrounded by hills and greenery at the foot of the sea, like a valley with a nice wide beach, today is a tourist resort visited by mostly young foreigners looking for fun and night... Beautiful property in a fantastic location at the end of the beach, close enough to walk to town in a few minutes, but far enough away from the consistent rave music that plays loudly in the center of town. Our room was very clean and well laid out. We had large balcony as well, from which we could watch some... More

Stayed here for three nights over Christmas. Positives: Location is the best! It is nice to be down at the quiet end of the beach. You are not bothered by the constant late night beat you would hear if you were closer to town. Very nice staff, especially Johnnie the bartender (who make some of the best bloody marys and... More

My partner and I booked Baja Montanita as it was the last part of our trip to Ecuador and we wanted to 'treat ourselves' to a nice, private room so we paid a little more. After a very long travel day of getting to Montanita, we were extremely disappointed when we got to our room. We were put in Room... More

We got a two Bedroom unit with one bathroom and a balcony overlooking the beach. View was great but room was sparsely furnished with bed, night stand and closet unit with drawers beneath. Bathroom had a leaky toilet and sink didn't drain and not very clean. There was a musty smell so they sprayed something to make it a little... More

Baja Montanita borders on a luxury hotel. I was in the Royal Suite which is a huge room with new finishes and furnishings. Also an extra large bathroom. Great towels. Room needs a safe. Great balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. The bar was great... happy hour cocktails were well poured and good sized. I had a very HAPPY... More

This is by far the best place to stay in Montanita. It has the best location (right on the point) and away from the noisy town. The rooms are very clean and all have air conditioning. The hotel has a pool, lounge chairs on the sand, out door bathrooms and showers. The two bartenders are the best in town and... More

Let me start by saying there is nothing wrong with this hotel. Clean rooms, clean grounds, friendly staff ok food. The problem is, this hotel charges a premium. One of the more expensive ones along the beach. The room was big enough for a bed. Not much more. There was no place to put luggage on. Had to be on... More
