Very peaceful stay. Unfortunately the power in the town was out when we arrived so check in was late but they allowed us to enjoy the property and use common bathrooms until our bungalow was ready.
Breakfast is included in the stay. The bungalow we stayed in was labeled "seaside" which lead us to believe you could see the ocean...not the case. It wasn't a far walk across the property but I definitely wouldnt have classified it as seaside.
Very close to Downtown Montanita so you can walk there and back either along the street or along the beach.

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing hostal (some private cabanas) with hot water, clean sheets and a comfy bed with breakfast included, that is just a few minutes walk from the center of all the action in Montanita, and at an economical price, look no further than the Hosteria La Gondola, run by a nice young Ecuadorian man named Sergio. There are seven different cabanas, some holding two rooms, with the ocean less than 100 feet away. The property is completely surrounded by a fence, and is also pet-friendly, There is also a full time caretaker and his wife on the property at all times. There is a cabana with hammocks underneath just perfect for lounging the day away, after a late night in Montanita. And to top it all off there is a brand new cabanna bar run by a great guy from Canada named James right in front of the property on the beach. Yummy Cocktails and ice cold beer, soon to be followed by a small beach menu of burgers and such. A very charming bar and hang-out area built in the local style but with the flare of a north American environment. Make your reservation now!!!

I came to la Gondola in Montañita, with my mother and my sister, we had an amazing time, the hotel was very comfortable and cozy!
The staff was welcoming and friendly and made new friends with the other hotel guests.
The hotel is very close to town ,walking distance, and we had the beach to ourselves.

Excellent view and service. The rooms are clean and nice. La Gondola is just right where its supposed to be because it is in Montañita but is away from the noise. I also recommend to pick the rooms that aren in front of the beach.

If you are visiting Montañita, La Gondola is the best place to stay!! We were scheduled to stay for 2 nights and ended up staying for 10 nights - we loved it that much. The bungalows/rooms & bar/restaurant are all directly on the beach; the rooms are all super comfortable with AC; and the staff & visitors are all just amazing people.

It's hard to describe in words how magical this place is - don't miss out on staying here!! :)

We spent 3 nights here during carnival and should have stayed longer. This place is like camping on the beach in some Gilligan Islands huts. We loved it. Nice, safe, grounds right on a great beach for playing in the waves. We would come back here. Very comfortable atmosphere. One of the only places in town with shade. Nice caretakers. Be sure to confirm reservation a few days before you arrive. (Even if your reservation says "confirmed")This is standard practice along the coast, especially around holidays. This place is a nice distance from town so that it is quiet at night, yet close to all the restaurants and great music etc. in town.

Situated in front of the Beach (in the south of the town, where the waves aren't good for surfing). Has HOT water and a shared kitchen. The common areas are nice. far away from the noice of the party. It's 6 blocks from the downtown (the las three blocks you'll feel that you are in a shanty town....) eventhough the place is pretty safe (I guess).
Half of the cabins have air conditioning, the other half have fans.
The beach in that area is far away from the "party" is quiet.
The breakfast it's ok (eggs, croissants, juice, coffee), isn't too big.
To conclude I would recommend it, the cabins are beauty, sleeping with the sound of waves is the best way to sleep.
If you are going to surf it's far away from the point.
The weather in January-February it's cloudy rainy !!!!!!! :( It's not like Salinas (where there's always sun).
I've been there 4 days and the waves sucked (it's a bed swell for two weeks!!!) I couldn't surf!!!! fuuuuuuuuuu

La Gondola was a great place to stay. Maria and Guillermo treated us like family and did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Far enough away for peace and quite, but close enough to walk to the party and if you don't want to walk anywhere walk to the beach and have a drink with James at the bar.

Charming hotel, with direct access to the beach, super reasonable rates and excellent food. It is located within walking distance to the town yet far away to allow you to rest undisturbed by the noise and craziness! The staff is friendly and courteous, all in all, highly recommended, we will definitely come back as soon as possible! 😍

Can't say I have ever seen any kids there, but I also don't see any reason why the would not allow them. As other member said, best to just email them. They are usually good at responding quickly.
