Tiny rooms with literally a bed in them, no room for any of your stuff, bag etc.
Dirty towels with stains. We were told there’s a “towel shortage” when we asked for fresh towels
We had to request for our room to be cleaned and they put bedsheets with black mould on them
The toilets are extremely dirty and never cleaned throughout the day
The showers didn’t have locks on them (?!) had to ask for locks to be put on them
The staff are half asleep and haven’t a clue how to run the place. They seem so lost when you ask for anything
The pool is nice but again, the chairs are full of bird poo and never cleaned

The location is great as it’s right on the beach and within all the restaurants and bars. However, if you’re looking to get any sort of sleep, don’t stay here. The hostel is in between two of the biggest nightclubs and the music is on until 5am every night of the week.

The hostel itself starts playing music before 9am every morning even though there’s literally no one to play for?! They had some singer with the screechiest voice waking people up.

The food is great, and the rooms are good too! During the stay, I used the shared spaces, and it worked out perfectly. You can enjoy some surfing or yoga lessons if you wish and if you are a party lover, you are one street from the bars and clubs.

Montanita is a fun place. Right on the best surfing beach in Ecuador and packed with bars and clubs for partying the whole night. It is a very small place but a great place to go for a fun weekend.

If you are there to stay in clubs and bars all night then this hotel is in the perfect location. It is right in the middle of party central. Go to Hola Ola bar for the best night. The other clubs were packed with drug taking hippy travellers. All the locals from Guayquil and Quito go to Hola Ola.

Our room was very clean, had a safe and hot water 24hrs. The staff were also excellent and helpful at all times. The hotel was also very secure.

As the other review said, at the weekend Montanita is a crazy place with very loud music blaring until sunrise. If you want a quiet weekend stay somewhere else like the Kundalini or the Balsa Surf camp as they are away from the town centre.

If you stay at the Majagua expect VERY loud music at the weekend until 8-9am. There are about 5 clubs within 50 metres all competing with each other to see who can play music the loudest!

Bring ear plugs and ask for a room on the higest floor possible at the back of the hotel. This will alleviate the noise to an acceptable level.

But if you are there to party all night and drink yourself stupid then the noise wont affect you as you will be up out until the morning when the music stops and all the beers will ensure you go straight to sleep! Plus you will be glad you only have to walk a few metres to your hotel!

We were offered a room for a certain amount. My fiance went to see it, he accepted, at the time to pay they price was double of the price they told us. As we traveled 12 hours, we needed a good place to rest. My fiancé accepted it. After we got into the room, we were resting and suddenly we saw through our window a man in a latter hanging lights. We saw they were making a construction under a room. The night came, the music was on so loudly even though it was Monday and nobody was there. At the same time we had people hammering under our room so bad, that I had to came out and tell them we are paying more than 300+ dollars, can you please do the work during the day?
Next day, we went to the administrator, who instead of saying I am sorry, we was so defensive, rude and with zero customer service attitude. He offered us to return the money to my account. It has been a week and I have not received a cent.

Filthy rooms, rude staff, disgusting coffee, pool with no maintenance. Deplorable conditions on the property, overpriced and misleading photos on booking websites. I will never visit again. The sheets were dirty, there was trash in our room, the bar was closed almost the entire time, beach access was both restricted for guests and lacked security for intruders.

I cannot believe this hostel is allowed to charge money for people to stay in their rooms. It is so loud - my partner and I had to shout over each other to be heard in our own bedroom. The music at all the surrounding bars and clubs doesn't stop until 5am and all the music is clashing. There is no sound proofing and our bathroom window didnt close so it generally felt like we were trying to sleep in the middle of a nightclub. We had maybe 4 or 5 different sounds coming into our room from the street.
It's expensive. The rooms are basic. The kitchen is filthy and smells of mould. There are no forks.
It claims to be a "party hostel" but there is no atmosphere. It's a really big soulless hostel which occasionally puts out loud and bad dj music.
We left after 1 night and they wouldn't give us a refund. The manager was not apologetic and said it was our fault for booking with them.
Honestly, the place is a disgrace and I can't see how people can sleep there at all, and how they can continue to operate as an accommodation.
If you are in Montanita, stay 5 mins or so out of town in a nice hostel with atmosphere and come into town to party. Do not stay here.

Ants in the room, no hot water, water don’t flush, no wifi at all.
Not quiet at all! All parties are at the next building. Be sure you won’t sleep at all!!!

When we talked to the manager about the conditions the i mentioned in the room, she offered us to leave the place and get refund for the nexy night or stay at that broken place as is.
Just dont go there!

You don’t get what you pay. When we first came even the receptionists don’t wear masks, they don’t clean anything they don’t even fill the alcohol dispenser. It’s like they are stoned all day and don’t give a f***k about anything at all. Shared bathrooms are dirty, blankets and sheets are stained. Everything by the pool is old and doesn’t look anything like the pictures. Seriously you can get a better place or even similar in town for less than half that price!

We just came back from Montanita, which is awesome, but this hotel is probably one of the worst places to stay! The rooms and old and not very clean, the linens are disgusting and the bathrooms are deplorable. The pool area cant even be called a pool area and finally (if everything I just said wasnt enough), you cant sleep because you're in the middle of the club street with music from everywhere. We also asked the hotel to set up a transfer for us to GYE, charged us $90 and the driver picked up his wife giving us a huge detour and we missed out flight. There aso so many other options, dont wante your money on this horrible hotel.

This review is for the coworking space at Selina. Although it looks like an OK space, it is unbelievably noisy. During the week there is drilling and banging whilst they carry out building work, on Sundays they have a loud pool party which sounds like it might as well be in the same room and all the time you can hear noise from the street. I teach online so this has been particularly bad for me with students commenting on all the noise during our lessons!
