The staff was very nice and the property was beautifully tucked away in the forest. You truly felt one with nature while there. We visited during a non-busy time and were kindly upgraded to a larger, more remote room, which was lovely. Highly recommend if you are in the area and also stay more than one night. There are so many excursions and things to see in the surrounding area. We only stayed a night and could have used another day to see all the sights and scenic areas.

We arranged and paid for use of the hide where the white lights attract insect eating birds, and for breakfast. Turned up early to find nobody on reception, though we had been assured somebody would be there. Made our own way to the hide, only to find that the lights hadn't been on overnight, so that no insects were on the white sheets - so no birds. Following a mediocre breakfast, I talked to the owner who said that they had had a power-cut overnight and so it wasn't their fault the lights hadn't been on. I fully expected to be offered the money back we'd paid to use the hide, as they hadn't provided the service we were expecting. She showed no interest in accepting responsibility, and expected us to take the (small) financial loss. If someone had been on reception, as promised, and told us the lights were out, we could have visited another site that morning, without wasting precious time. Won't be going there again, especially as there are excellent lodges like Sachatamia just up the road.

The previous day you came to the lodge, I personally took you to the hide and we both saw a antbird around, afterwards we met with several guides and everybody was excited about the new hide. But next day, after you left very upset the I new you were going to complain about this but as I mentioned to you there was one of the worst thunder storms of the past 10 years in the valley, there was a power cut and we had to bring the electricians to fix the lines. Your were staying in the village o there was no way you missed it. I can apricate that other lodges did not have a power surge but unfortunately we did and it was very bad. All the village was left with out power for several hours during the night... as you said "nature" nothing we can do about it. However, I did offer to give you the money back several time (but you were very upset and I do not understand why you say I did not offer this...it was the only thing I can do about this situation) but you said "That since it was a thing of nature not to worry" I also told you can come back any time and you mentioned that your were leaving he area. Sir that morning we were up sin 4.30 AM serving breakfast to a birding group, I am sorry there was no one at Reception at your arrival but I was checking the damage the storm caused around the lodge. I did tell you that you can enter directly to the hide and afterwards come to have breakfast (which you did) at our restaurant. I appreciate you were upset, and I do apologies, however on March27th In our FB page we reported the incident so YES it did happen. I apologies for the inconvenience but it was a situation we could not do anything about, it was out of our hands.

This hotel is a real hidden gem! Its a very simple and authentic place but with all the amenities : heated pool, bar, space for reading, covert pathways with lighting, game room, dining room, play room with a pool table, walking trails, etc. Our host was a lovely german lady who took great care of us and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our stay, which was very short unfortunately because we had a lot of road to cover as we were on a motorcycle trip.

If you want a eco-friendly lodge in the middle of a forest where you are a more a family member than a room number, this is the place for you. I spent a week on a birding trip here. The room was spacious and comfortable. The local food was deliciously prepared, and packed lunches and packed breakfasts were available as our schedule required. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Our birding guide Sandra, arranged by the hotel, was excellent. There are also trails on the property for exploring on your own and quite active hummingbird feeders in the front garden. There was even a Golden-headed Quetzal in a front garden tree our last afternoon; what a lovely way to say goodbye.

I had an excellent stay at Septimo Paraiso. The room was comfortable. The meals were great. We had a different soup and main course every meal. The meals were like home made and from local recipes. There was always freshly made juices available. The kitchen was very accommodating of dietary preferences. If needed, they offer very early breakfasts (even before 5 AM), and can also provide a nice bag lunch. The place is well situated, close to many great birding places. The property itself offers an abundance of birds. There are hummingbird feeders all over. Exceptionally good are the many feeders near the front entrance. A variety and abundance of hummingbirds vie over the feeders, especially in the afternoon. There are other attractions here as well, the pools and hot tubs.a very nice chocolate shop and many trails.
