Facilities: 4/5 stars. The building/rooms are wonderful. I will admit that, because we were alone in a building with 6 bedrooms, that we may have been more glowing in our feelings about the facilities than we might have been if there were multiple other people staying. If there were multiple other parties staying in the building, it might have been difficult to avoid disturbing each other. But, we were alone, so for us there was tons of storage (including lockable closets) , a comfortable bed, a huge bathroom, large covered balcony with tables and chairs that overlooked the flower gardens and trees. The only downside to the facilities was a very difficult hot water system; it took a long time to get hot water and then it was difficult to maintain a constant water…
Dear Maria Elena and Christina, Thank you for your hospitality! We had a wonderful time at the Yellow house and made so many wonderful memories, seeing the birds , hiking on your property, your delicious breakfast meals and breakfast lunch bags. Thanks for introducing your family ( past and present to us) via pictures in your entry way. Thanks for telling us the best time to go to mass. Can't wait to return with our family! Kindest regards Marjorie and Steve Schmidt PS Give Rex a pet on the head from us!
If your primary interest is nature, there is no better place than the Yellow House, in our experience. It’s a little secluded and further from the buzz of the village. You will be received as a part of the family. They will help you with anything you may need and look after you like after one of their own. And you will probably also want to go back, just as we do!
We were led to believe the trail began at the property. It does not. It’s a steep, nearly one-hour hike up a muddy path to get to the forest. We told the lady we only had one hour to hike. She took our $12 and then said it was a 30-45 minute walk to get to the forest. So, we didn’t even make it to the forest before we had to turn around and come back. Felt completely ripped off. I wish the owner had told us an hour was not enough time.
This is good value accommodation away from the centre of Mindo, which seemed an advantage to us. It is so quiet and peaceful but just a 10 minute walk down the track to the town. We stayed in a house (sorry I didn’t get the name of it) next to the main house, which was wonderful as we are two couples and had the place to ourselves. Creaky beds, creaky floors. We loved it. The views are lovely and plenty of birds seen from the balcony. Very friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast.
