This was a pleasant surprise! We arrived early and Chelsea at the front desk was very nice and provided us with an upgraded room as we are elite status with Marriott. This hotel was hands down the CLEANEST hotel we have ever stayed in! The room was perfect although maybe a bit smaller than some Residence inns we stayed in. The pool wasn’t crowded and had plenty of chairs. The BBQ pits were brand new and worked perfectly. There’s a basketball play area and a one hole golf green also on the property. The morning complimentary breakfast was delicious although smaller than normal due to Covid. The warm items were ordered from an attendant and handed over to the diner. The showers were stocked with Tea Tree by Paul Mitchell (Awesome!). The hotel also has a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within Wailea that you want. Parking was a bit pricey at $30/day. Thanks so much for making our stay great!

Stayed here for seven days at the beginning of June. Quiet, comfortable room with well equipped kitchen - coffeemaker, toaster, stove-top, large fridge etc. Comfortable bed. Room cleaned once every three days. Lovely grounds and nice pool area but had to go to reception for pool towels and wait behind people checking-in etc. No Wi-fi in room despite numerous attempts to get this corrected. Could get Wi-fi in public areas occasionally but getting Wi-fi there was not a certainty. Breakfast was the same EVERY day. Just adequate. coffee really good and was always kept topped up by the hard working staff. Definitely would not say this was an easy walk to the beach. It was fine going down but coming back up in the heat carrying all our beach gear was no fun. They do provide a shuttle but didn't use it so not sure of hours or where they actually dropped you off. Ended up driving to the beach whenever we wanted to go and we are pretty fit people so don't expect a nice stroll to access the beach. Hotel parking was way too overpriced. Would return.

Disappointed in the cleanliness of the pool area and the tables in the dining area(breakfast). Don’t expect to get a cocktail to late afternoon. Road noise in rooms on Wailea Ike dr. side is considerable. You only have unobstructed views of the water if you are on the 5th floor.

I have 28 years staying at Marriotts all over the world. I have never written a negative review, but feel compelled to share with you some honest opinions. I love the Marriott program. The week prior I stayed at the Marriott Sheraton on Kauai and it was the perfect stay. Everything was open, bikes were free, parking was free, pools open late, etc. However, this was not the case with my recent stay May 8-13, 2021 at the Residence Inn on Maui. Let me explain why and be informed people. You will not want to take any vacation with kids here. They are just not family friendly at all and they act like they are Ritz Carlton when they are NOT !! I am a titanium member. The positives: They did upgrade me to a suite as is part of the program rules, and the rooms were clean, but following that, everything was downhill. NEGATIVES: Upon my arrival with my teenage daughter for a short vacation after getting our covid vaccinations and paying for covid tests per Hawaii guidance, we were told that many of the people staying at the hotel were actually on quarantine and had not had covid tests. That was disturbing to hear. We were then told that the hot tub was closed perm. due to covid. Why not use a list like other hotels with signed in windows of time to allow one family at a time for 20 minutes? The pool was also closed every day at 7pm. My daughter then asked for a basketball to play on the basketball court provided, and we were told you had to bring your own basketball !!! Can you imagine this? What??? They cannot disinfect a basketball when returned? So I had to take a three hour window out of my time and spend extra money taking an uber to and from a store in town to buy a basketball. Next, we discovered that after 7pm, all the lights on the patio areas of the hotel and the entry are turned off. We would come back from hiking or shopping and it would be sunny and warm out still, and we wanted to swim in the pool, BUT They told us they did not want people congregating so they closed the pool at 7pm. They did that every day. They said they wanted to clean the pool at that time. That seemed very inconvenient to guests. They could have cleaned the pool in the early morning between 6-8am like most hotels do. Having an early evening swim is so needed when on vacation, especially with a teenager! Next, my daughter asked for some drinking water which has always been given to platinum and Titanium members for free (actually drinking water at a $500/night) hotel should be complimentary anyway, it's a human rights thing in my opinion. Nope, no free drinking water at the Residence Inn. They gave us free drinking water at the Sheraton and Westin. Again, I was appalled. At breakfast, you better like the grab and go bag with chemical muffin, hard boiled egg, and a burrito. They did have oranges and apples. But again, could they not have those small cereal boxes and small milk cartons of milk for kids. This is covid friendly and most kids like cereal. My daughter hated the burrito and eating a hard boiled egg was not going to cut it. Good luck with your kids. I spoke to the manager and told them that this and all you get is the conventional "were sorry" and let's blame it on covid. Remember, Hawaii opened it's doors to travel and tourists prior to our arrival. Parking for platinum and Titanium is usually waived at most Marriotts in Maui. Not at the Residence Inn...it's another $30day. Oh, and all those great reviews by others stating the beach is only 5 minutes away and a short walk. Thats not true. Its at least 20 minutes and your waking down unlit streets, thru parking lots, and thru a major mall to get the the beach. As for statements about food all around the hotel, there is nothing! There are no food options next to the hotel. This is a outright lie. I look at the reviews by others and I am beginning to think they are written by employees of Marriott because they simply are not true. And being next to the 4 seasons should not suggest in any way that this Residence Inn is some superior hotel...it is clearly not a 4 seasons and charging $500 plus a night for virtually zero amenities makes the Sheratons and Westin a much better option. Lastly, I called guest services at Marriott HQ's and filed three complaints. I did not ask for anything. BUT, the marriott guest services did reach out to the Day manager and requested that I be given a full refund of my points. The manager contacted me and refused. Imagine that? Big surprise given how they treated me and my daughter while there. So I am still waiting to see how my third complaint is received by Guest services who told me they were shocked by what happened. So don't be fooled and lulled into the easy response for not giving you anything, or keeping things open, or making your vacation special...they can always say its because of covid. The real truth, they are saving tons of money at the expense of your vacation. I guess if your hotel is 85% full (which they told me) and your seeing only a dozen people during the day at the pool, most are here in quarantine is my guess.

Aloha roberthW4445IY, Thank you for taking the time to provide your honest feedback regarding your recent stay. I apologize for the way the current Maui County Mandates have affected our operations and your experience. We encourage all travellers to the County of Maui to call us directly for up-to-date information on our current amenity offerings. Fortunately, recent announcements by the Mayor have allowed us to expand on those offerings. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to resuming full operations once the local mandates allow. Mahalo!

The pool grass area was only cleaned once in the 10 days we were there. I am sitting at the pool as I write this review and the surrounding pool area is filthy. Chair lounges are dirty and the tables are old warn out and in some cases cracked and broken. The main body of the resort is fine however the jewel of any resort is always the pool area whereas many family pictures are taken. Easy fix just vacuum up the pool area once a day. Probably only take half an hour.
