Our stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani was absolutely perfect! The resort was beautiful and the staff were wonderful! Everything from the pools, the gym and all the restaurants were excellent! Our family had a fantastic experience!
I wish there were more stars to give this amazing hotel. I have been coming to the Kea Lani since the late 90’s when I was in my 20s. Having traveled to 30+ countries, in 5 star travel/lodging, and, admittedly, being a bit high maintenance with high expectations, I couldn’t rave more about the Fairmont Kea Lani. We stayed here for a week prior to Christmas (Me, my wife, and 3 boys, 15, 12, 10). Maui was at @ 25% capacity, which meant all hotels were working with a streamlined team. But the Kea Lani staff over performed. The grounds were spotless/gorgeous. Nick’s seafood restaurant is like a fine wine, getting better with time. My little guy loved the tiki torch ceremony at sunset. We all enjoyed the pool slide, watching whales frolic from our suite. And the beach was immaculate. The best part was the fun conversations and banter with the kindest staff on Maui. And remember, this is an all suite hotel. So, there is plenty of room for your entire family. Suite was updates, gorgeous upholstery, beddings, everything. Every day we would walk down to the beach and the staff remembered our name and room # and started setting up our chairs and umbrellas. 2 of my sons signed up for scuba diving and went right off the beach around the rock formation with one of the Kea Lani’s expert staff. Our whole family ate a couple of times at Nick’s Seafood. My 3rd decade there and the food and service is better than ever. It’s fun to see staff that have transcended the decades and love what they do. The Kea Lani has a lot of room to move around, unlike the other hotels along the most gorgeous beach path in Wailea. Case in point, there are several acres of lush Bermuda grass right in front of the beach. My boys and I played frisbee, thew the football and brought our baseball gloves and played catch, all while my wife sipped wine on a lounge chair during sunset. Here is an example of how the staff went over and beyond even amazing service. I shared with the staff that a Christmas present for my wife was 5 days late in arriving and would arrive on the 23rd (we checked out the 22nd). Were going on to Lahaina about 40 minutes away. Danny and Greg at the bell stand – both whom have been there for decades told me not to worry about it. Even one of their top executives, Mr. Smart contacted me and let me know that they would get the package to me. On the 23rd, the package was intercepted from the shipping department and brought to the bell desk where Greg put it in a cab, and 40 minutes later it was in my hands in Lahaina. Thank you Mr. Smart, Greg, Danny. I had a happy wife on Christmas morning. Great Hospitality– when done right is magical. I have already told this amazing story a dozen times. It was a magical experience for me, my wife, and 3 boys. Having stayed in the best hotels in the world and all the resorts along the walking path in Wailea, I would choose the Kea Lani hands down over the rest. I can’t wait until next year. C Cook…
Our family was looking forward to our 2020 Christmas week long stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani- after thoroughly enjoying the 2019 holiday at their property in Barbados. 2020 has been a tough year for the hospitality business, especially in Hawaii. My stance is if you continue to portray this property as a 5 star resort, you could likely be guilty of false advertising. Positives: The facility is gorgeous, in the unique micro climate of Wailea. The frontline employees ( servers on breakfast restaurant, pool attendants, housekeeping ) were all polite ,competent and helpful. The lobby Christmas decorations were exquisite. Areas for change: Absent management: an obvious lack of visible management presence. This feature is key to high end hospitality. The top restaurant on site- Nick’s-was marginal at best- again absent management. An almost complete lack of transportation from the hotel to anywhere. Uber consistently had no drivers available. Taxis were scarce, while the fleet of Fairmont owned SUVs sat parked without drivers- inexcusable. Note: when we visited the Adjacent hotels (Four Seasons, Andaz, etc) they were happily providing short trip transportation services to their guests- and even to us ! I suggest Fairmont’s European management to take a tour of their close by competing hotels- to learn how to manage and still provide top service during this COVID crisis. …
We had a great time at the Fairmont Kea Lani 12/5-12/8. Their safety procedures made my family feel comfortable. The resort was very clean with several options for food and drink. Every single staff member that I came in contact with, from pre-arrival team, valet, checkin, bell hop, hostesses, and waiter/waitresses. Everyone was great. Just hated to leave so soon.
Staying in an ocean view villa at this property was simply sublime! The villa was quite spacious, with 2 large king-bedded rooms each with a huge bathroom complete with a soaking tub and shower. Lounges both upstairs and downstairs next to your own plunge pool. Keen to bar-b-q? It’s on your private lanai, where we occasionally had afternoon snacks after an island adventure such as driving to Hana or to the north to watch surfers and visit the Nakalele blowhole. Nothing was crowded at the resort which made it feel even safer. All meals were open air with delicious food at Ko restaurant. One pool has a slide for children, and children at heart, another is peaceful for adults only. The beach is perfect, with gentle waves for boogie boarding. We paddled in an outrigger canoe, with Ralph and Saul. What fun! Ralph found a wild octopus - amazing! They could not have been nicer. Indeed, all of the staff at the Fairmont Kea Lani were gracious and welcoming. The grounds are magnificent, with expansive lawns, and fragrant plumeria and hibiscus at every turn. It’s a slice of paradise! Go, you deserve it, especially in the midst of a pandemic. …
