Have been to Maui three times. First time I stayed the The Ritz at Kapalua; the second time at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea and the third time at Hotel Wailea. The Ritz and the Fairmont are extremely large properties, Hotel Wailea is the polar opposite. It is a boutique, Adult only hotel on a beautiful property. If you like big crowds and a busy setting, and have kids, then the big brands (Four Seasons, Fairmont, Ritz, etc..) are worth considering but if you want an intimate setting with an Hawaiian feel to it, with great service, then this is the place. Worth noting that the other properties have multiple floors, Hotel Wailea has only two-storey buildings.
So fortunate to have been able to experience this world class hotel on beautiful Maui. The staff was exceptional, the views breathtaking, the food delicious, the cocktails exquisite! We loved the luxury shuttle available at a moments notice to pop us down to the beach, shopping and restaurants, but were always happy to escape the business of the beachfront and return back to the exclusive, cool vibes of hotel Wailea. Chic decor, a great music vibe and the most stunning sunsets - there is no better hotel in Hawaii for a couples escape, a girls trip or an adult family vacation. We are already planning our return. Thank you to all of the incredible staff who made us feel truly special!
Hotel Wailea was absolutely incredible. Every single thing they did, they did it the right way. It made our honeymoon truly unforgettable and very special. Our room was fantastic, the food and drinks were great, the staff was super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend taking in the sunset over dinner at the resort restaurant. Getting a cabana by the pool was great too. We chose to get a rental car to go on some excursions, but we found out the hotel truly will take you anywhere in the town of Wailea in their cars and they were pretty easy to work with whenever a ride was needed. The hotel is a little further up the island side and nice and secluded away from some of the hustle and bustle of other resorts and tourists. It is adults only too which is perfect for a more romantic/relaxing atmosphere. I truly can't say enough good things about this place!…
We have been coming to Hotel Wailea for years now so I figured it was time to review after our most recent trip. This last trip was for a babymoon and I wasn't quite sure how it would go without being able to enjoy all the delicious drinks that all their amazing bartenders make. While I did REALLY miss the mai tais, I definitely didn't feel left out. We literally did almost zero excursions this trip and just enjoyed the hotel. Beach in the morning, pool in the afternoon. Sometimes the bird bar in the evenings. The breakfast, although expensive, is SO GOOD! We couldn't help but get the lilikoi pancakes and omelette almost every morning. And the pool drinks and food are absolutely delicious. I got so many smoothies and mocktails that I just loved. One thing we finally did this trip was take the free cocktail class with James on Saturdays. It was so much fun we couldn't believe we always skipped it. We even made a special non-alcoholic drink first for me (so if you don't drink alcohol don't feel like you can't go). A few tips I've learned - 2nd floor rooms are just better. We had a first floor with an ocean view this trip and just wasn't as good as our last one on the 2nd....these are picky things though. :) The pool also tends to get really busy in the early afternoon, so if you can get there earlier you'll get a better choice of seats! We never had trouble finding a seat though. People here are just super friendly and happy - meet others and have a good time!…
My wife and I stay at the Hotel Wailea, Relais & Chateaux from 9/10 to 9/24. We got married on 9/13 and spent our honeymoon at this hotel. Our wedding was held by third party not associated with the hotel; however, the hotel still treated us very well. The night of our wedding, the hotel had turned down our room, left chilled campaign and rose petals in the room. The day of the wedding, the hotel had sent a letter of congratulations. Additionally, the staff helped my wife with last minute odds and ends (nails, use of garment steamer, etc). I can't see thank you enough to the hotel and their staff. They made our stay very memorable and enjoyable. I will tell that the hotel offers daily shuttle service from 6 am to 10 pm to anywhere in Wailea. If you call the number on the key they give, they will dispatch someone in a vehicle to come and get you. We got breakfast as part of our package, which amounted to a $60 credit per day. It won't carry over so you either use it or lose it. The pool and hot-tub are open all day; however, the poolside bar is only open 10 am to 4 pm. Some times we got beer and/or wine for room credit the next business day. The bird cage and Hotel restaurant will also allow you to charge your meals to the room. My wife and I will certainly be coming back to Maui. We'd love to return to this hotel when our son doesn't come with. If you looking for an adults only getaway, the Hotel Wailea, Relais and Chateaux is your place.…
The Treehouse at Hotel Wailea is by far the most exceptional dining experience I've had in Hawaii (or perhaps anywhere). I highly recommend it to those who love fine dining in a spectacular setting with the chance to get to know your chef and server in an intimate environment. Chef Krista Garcia and her colleague Ben took the utmost care of us at dinner there last night and my chef-husband and I were elated to experience this together. We started at the Birdcage bar at Hotel Wailea, listening to Lovebirds chirp from the rafters while enjoying cleverly-named, craft cockails (the Dragonfly for me, Two Birds with one Stone for him). Next, we were whisked away by golf cart to the private setting where we watched the sun set from our dinner table. The menu was nothing short of sensational so I'll relive it through our words: The amuse-bouche was a Black River Oscietra Caviar shrimp toast (a fluffy brioche shrimp toast heavily topped with sweet and salty, delicious caviar). For our first course, Chef prepared Hawaiian Kanpachi Crudo (a new spin on yellowtail sashimi with sesame, chili and shallots). The second course was a Kona Lobster Louie (made with Maine lobster that was farm-raised in Hawaii, combined with farm-fresh, free-range eggs and avocodo from Haiku). The third course was a Lopes Farms pork belly and Kaua'i prawn dumplings (served with Umami broth, a savory blend of chicken broth, beef brone broth and enriched with pork belly fat). An intermezzo of sorbet set the tone for the main course - Snake River Farms wagyu ribeye cap with fingerling potatoes and fern. Panna cotta served as the perfect dessert - tart, sweet and velvety to taste - to cap off the evening. Wine pairings were Billecart-Salmon Champagne and Hotel Wailea's private label pinot noir from Melville winery from Santa Barbara, California. We will be back and will invite another couple next time to share in the moment. Sidenote: be sure to book with ample advance notice to ensure you can secure a reservation. It's truly one of the most special culinary experiences anywhere. …
An incredible adults-only hotel and by some distance the best on Maui. The boutique feel is a genuine welcome from high rise behemoths like the Four Seasons, Fairmont and Grand Wailea. The ocean and sunset views from our room were stunning (as was the room itself) but what really sets the hotel apart is the service. The staff go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Nothing was too much. There's also a fabulous personal shuttle service which will pick up and drop off hotel guests to any local location. The decor and interior design here is absolutely breathtaking. As for the food: we usually hate dining in hotels but the restaurant was beautiful and the food truly exceptional. We'll be returning for sure.
Beautiful romantic hotel and perfect for our honeymoon . The rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable . We had an ocean view which was spectacular ! The dining and food was amazing and the staff so wonderful and helpful ! They gave us rides to the nearby beach and set up our chairs and umbrellas . First class service ! We had massages in the room and all in all felt like we were in paradise ! If you want the hustle and noise then this is not for you ! Loved everything !
Excellent Service, friendly staff, excellent food and beverage. Loved that there was room service as our view for sunset was dreamy. BirdCage Bar was fantastic place for tapas and tasty beverages!! Beautiful location and views! Will be returning.
I couldn't recommend Hotel Wailea more for a couple looking to have a romantic getaway on Maui. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is friendly and attentive. All around, great experience.
