Amazing and magical! The breakfast package was the way to go. Beautiful grounds and large rooms with incredible views. Well maintained. Only complaint was getting beach chairs on beach. Bad process there. Who wants get up at the crack of Dawn just to get a seat!?!
Where to begin. This is an over the top exceptional resort. They have more than 5 pools -I lost count. There’s an adult pool, a lazy river, a 2 story slide, a Tarzan rope swing, and more. There’s a wing dedicated to beautiful shops on the resort grounds. The Shops at Wailea are across the street. There’s many choices for food, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc. The team working the valet hustles. I have not waited more than 5 min for my car yet and the hotel is currently at capacity. The hotel has fireworks at 9pm that are amazing on certain evenings. Definitely check this place out and check out the deals they offer.
Inconvenienced by construction noise daily, huge conventions booked at the hotel, and staff not accommodating for the price of my stay. It seemed to be more commercial and less high end and enjoyable.
We really enjoyed our return visit to the Grand Wailea. The location is awesome, the pools and beach are stellar. The entire facility is immaculate; from the rooms, to the shared areas, to the spa, to the pool, and everywhere else. Just a few complaints... primarily the beds are way to soft, and the pillows flatten to nothing (we ended up purchasing our own pillows while there); and honestly the food and beverage is way overpriced. I get it, your in Hawaii, so expect to pay more, but seriously, $20 - $25 for a cocktail is just out of hand. As a Hilton Diamond member we get a $25 per person per day food and beverage credit, which in the rest of the world would be great, but at this place it can't come close to covering breakfast (which is what it is supposed to do). Oh, and although I wasn't surprised by it, but $50 a day for a resort fee doesn't cover the $65 a day parking fee (self park is not an option). So loved the place, but bring your own pillows and some extra cash. Oh and definitely stop by the Grotto and get a drink or two from Wayne and Tim. They are top notch bartenders ... they make awesome drinks (albeit expensive) and are extremely friendly.…
Good Resort in Maui but food options for International travellers are very limited. locations wise excellent and so is ambience. From most rooms its a panoramic view over pacific and it also has a chapel in the lawn. wonderful place to spend vacation.
Stayed at the Grand Wailea for 6 days from the end of Feb to the beginning of Mar. For a 5 star resort, the overall experience was ok, but inconsistent, and depended heavily on the person providing the services. In terms of the hard product, the resort was going through renovations and that meant that there was a lot of construction noise during the day, which translated into an inability to take afternoon naps, etc... we managed to change rooms 4 nights into the stay so that helped a little. Unfortunately, this came very late. On the positive side, we were there with our young kids, and they thoroughly enjoyed the pool. I would recommend the provision of a kid's club to complement the overall family experience. In terms of service, the Japanese speaking concierge team's service was top-notched. They happily engaged my kids while we were asking them about some stuff. The valets were also very helpful and prompt with their service. Occasionally, the front desk and housekeeping kept up a high level of service. Sadly, the level of service provided was inconsistent. On one occasion, my family was napping in the room and the house keeper opened the door and walked right into the room to "check" if she could tidy up. This was despite us repeatedly asking her to come back later. A situation like this at a 5 star resort is simply unthinkable. Overall, the experience was ok, but I hope that the Grand Wailea will improve on the overall experience to make it consistently 5 stars.…
My wife and I had the pleaure of 10 days at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria for her birthday. The location was incredible - one of the few properties with direct access to the beach right in front of the hotel. While the spa was closed for renovation, they were still able to provide an amazing massage on property and direct us to nearby properties where we could use spa facilities. The bars and restaurants on site were all first-class with amazing dishes and drinks and the gym was an amazing two-level arragement with every piece of equipment I would hope for, including a full range of kettlebells and a TRX. The hotel was also less than a five-minute walk to a nearby mall with high-end stores and affordable everday supplies. The greatest past of the entire trip though was the remarkable staff. Every person, and I mean every person, we interacted with from the hotel during our stay was incredibly friendly, supportive, and helpful with every question or request we had. Miho on the concierge staff provided some of the best service we have ever had from a luxury hotel. She went above and beyond helping me to arrange multiple surprise flowers for our room, recommending amazing activities (and even arranging a second arrangement of my wife's favorite flower from the first bouquet with just a few hours' notice on Valentine's Day so my wife could continue enjoying them through the second half of our trip). Miho also provided thoughtful and conscientious follow up to make sure we were satisfied at every step of the way. While our interactions at other properties were always pleasant, our experiences with everyone at the Grand Wailea were somehow a cut above everywhere else and is the primary reason we will be returning to this resort. They made you feel special every step of the way (which can be a difficult experience to find these days) and they made it seem effortless throughout. Truly 10 days in paradise.…
We stayed with three teenage boys and our 11 year old daughter for 5 nights. We don’t regret our choice, but feel compelled to provide feedback on some key issues that management should take to heart. Pros: Exceptional location on a perfect beach. February is whale month and it’s a wonderful time to splurge for a resort in Wailea where all the whale activity is at. We had excellent service from the concierge desk (Rebekah in particular) and were set up with great activities. We loved the kayak snorkel and whale watch trip that left from hotel beach and my 11 year old had a great experience with intro to scuba which you book poolside but includes an ocean dive. Pool is massive and very fun with two legit water slides and several smaller ones that lead from upper to lower pools, plus ablaze river and swim up bar. Families with small kids will love the pool. Nice workout facilities. We had renovated rooms in the Lagoon wing and have no complaints about construction noise or housekeeping. Rooms aren’t especially charming but you aren’t in Hawaii to spend a lot of time in your room. Cons: Very expensive for what you get. We joined the Grand Wailea Club to get room discount and food discount and a resort credit, but even with all of that it was a very spendy stay. So, expectations are high. It is therefore not acceptable to discover that the entire pool area (which is massive) has only TWO bathroom stalls for women, and only at lower pool. The women had to use the men’s bathroom (due to ongoing renovations and construction) so potted plants were set up in front of the urinals. The men were rerouted to the family bathroom, which is a single bathroom! You can imagine the lines that formed and also the repercussions- you know people gave up and just peed in the pool! The bathrooms were very dirty (from overuse). This cannot be sanitary and should be addressed ASAP by management. Also disappointing was the lack of staff at pool and beach on Presidents’ Day weekend. The lack of drink and food service can be remedied by walking up to the bar, but no one was clearing trash or towels and dirty dishes were attracting flies and inhibiting turnover of pool seats. I saw a huge pile of dirty towels and empty pizza boxes at the beautiful beach, which isn’t surprising when only one person was staffed to cover the entire area. We also noticed that food that got spilled in the common walkway to the Lagoon wing wasn’t cleaned up for about 18 hours. Note too that there are no food options at the hotel after 9 pm, not even room service. This surprised us coming from a huge upscale resort. Lobby bar open but no food at that time. If you arrive late make an alternative plan. All of that said, all places in Wailea are expensive and have drawbacks. We ate dinner at the Four Seasons next door and thought the facility was unexciting, especially the pool which was not large and had no fun features whatsoever.…
The hotel room was old and outdated. The pillowcases and bed sheets had strong, bad odor. I had to ask housekeeping to replace the linens—probably didn’t replace the linens after previous guests checked out. I forgot my swim clothes on the balcony because I left them there to dry. I called housekeeping a few hours after check out, and I was told there was no clothes left behind—lousy service for a 5-star resort. My son’s donut for the swimming pool was stolen when he placed it on pool deck —definitely not expected for a 5-star resort.
After checking out of the 5 star Hotel Wailea we sadly checked in to the Grand Wailea. Being a diamond Hilton member is worthless at this location. No upgrades offered or recognition of any kind. We were placed on the 9th floor of the Molokini wing right next to the construction. Rooms were outdated and jackhammering happened early in the morning disrupting our sleep. The pools were also disappointing. Water slides not operational as well as the water elevator. No shaded chairs at the adult pool unless you get up early and reserve them. If you want shade, be prepared to pay heavily for it. Cabanas are over $1200. per day, and just plain chairs with an umbrella are $150. per day per chair. Ridiculous and unacceptable for a pricey hotel that also charges a $50. per day resort fee. Beach chairs are also few and far between and you are packed in like sardines. Pool bathrooms are disgusting and unkempt. The few things we did enjoy were HumuHumu restaurant where we had an outstanding waiter named Michael and the adult pool waitresses, particularly Sparkle. I am writing this on February 25 and as of today several hundred convention guest are checking in. The whole resort is sold out as well as all the surrounding hotels. We heard the adult pool will only be accessible to the convention guests for at least one day as well as HumuHumu. Katy Perry in performing on Wednesday, 3/1. The stage is set up next to HumuHumu. If you will be there then, park yourself on the beach and enjoy the free show. Please save your money and go to a better hotel in Maui. This place is a money pit.…
